Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
Yuugi Mutou | Yu-Gi-Oh! DM
[Scenario One]
Mere moments after being discharged from the hospital and beginning to check out his surroundings, a boy with a rather, um, unique hairstyle found himself bombarded by locals, dealing with the usual newbie hurdle around these parts.
"Eat you? Ah, I'd rather have a burger, thanks--- Wait, no!" Not a human burger! And what was this about turning into a monster?! And a monster of the spooky, scary, murdery variety, not the type that he was used to back home. What type of place was this if a whole crowd of people had been fearful of him?
"Well, I guess I better look around. Maybe I should grab some lunch while I'm at it..." Yuugi said to himself after the crowd had finally dispersed, pocketing one or two of the pamphlets (That "Alternatives to Human Flesh" one for sure) that were given to him, before approaching a random bystander, possibly you!
"Sorry to bother you... How well do you know this place?"
[Scenario Two]
The giggling that had gone on for who knows how long was rather unnerving, it wasn't difficult to tell that this dork right here was a little on edge as he and his just-as-lost traveling companion, AKA you, were having a discussion on how to find a way out of the forest after bumping into each other and giving an expected hello and introduction. He had already mentioned being given directions that may not have been the best.
"I know! Why don't we mark something so can backtrack if we need to?" Yuugi suggested, letting out a nervous chuckle as the giggling started up again. Boy, this place was creepy, and the occasional twig cracking or bush rustling that wasn't caused by one of them sure wasn't helping.
[Scenario Three - Wendigo]
Whether you and Yuugi found a place to stay or you took him in because he was a defenseless cinnamon roll, there was no preventing the inevitable. Perturbed, he woke up moments before anybody else in the room, trying to comprehend his monster puberty that began last night.
The most apparent change in him was a mane around his neck and down his back, similarly colored to his hair, and a tail. Those canines of his and his nails too were noticeably longer as well. He was currently oblivious to his antler nubs and deer ears, although he had a seemingly unexplained monster (har har) headache right now. As for his insatiable hunger that he hadn't brought up in days, well, now there seemed to be a not-so-pleasant reason for it.
"You don't have a mirror anywhere, do you?" He asked with a hint of anguish, wanting to witness these drastic changes himself.

But when he takes off the helmet and turns to face the stranger approaching him... it's clear Crow is anything but human. Crow grins, showing off his rows and rows of shark teeth. "Like the back of my hand. Lemme guess. You're new around here?"
no subject
"Uh, yeah..." He mumbles, kind of dumbfounded. Is it obvious that he's never seen a Ryslig monster before, Crow? "Are... you one of those monsters I've heard about?" Fortunately, he's seen enough monster holograms (and not-so-much-holograms) around Domino to not be completely surprised.
no subject
"That obvious?" Of course it is. Crow points a finger at Yugi. "Technically you are, too. Or you will be."
Oops, was he supposed to break that gently to the new guy?
no subject
"Er... You're yanking my chain, right, ...?" He says mostly nonchalantly and only a little bit surprised to the monstrous whale-guy in front of him. "What was your name again? I'm Yugi Mutou." Better not mention the fancy title, he's too humble and dorky for that.
no subject
Yugi... Yugi... Huh. Crow's hand goes to his chin. Why does that name sound so familiar...? He's sure he'll get it eventually. Crow holds out a hand.
"Crow. Crow Hogan." Is he mean enough to extend his claws when this other guy shakes his hand? Nah. He could actually hurt him. "'Fraid I'm not joking. I'm not actually from around here, but look at me now."
no subject
No eating Yugi-san, that's probably illegal in the YGOverse!"It's nice to meet you, Crow!"
He was hesitant to touch his monstrous hand, but it didn't stop him for long from giving the other a firm handshake. "So where are you from and how long have you been here?" Might as well get to know this stranger!

[Scenario Two]
She pulled her dark cloak around her shoulders and slowly began to walk towards the new smell. It was human but she didn't expect humans to be wandering around here; unless they were new. She paused, her cat ears twitching slightly as they picked up the sound of someone talking.
Yeul pushed through the brush and stopped. In front of her was a boy who didn't seem to realize the dangers in these woods. She stared for a long time before she finally spoke in a soft voice. "What are you doing here?"
no subject
"Oh, hello. I was just trying to navigate this forest, somebody told me it was a shortcut to the next town." Nervous, he scratched the back of his spiky-haired head. Surely, this new person isn't dangerous!
"And, uh, well, I'm kind of lost."
no subject
"There is a road that leads to the town." That didn't go through the forest.
Her voice was distant and airy as if she was only partly there. She stepped forward a few feet before stopping herself. She didn't have her instincts under control as much as she would like them to be.
"It isn't safe here."
no subject
"I'm going the wrong way then?" He cringed, feeling a little embarrassed to be caught in this predicament and also being completely unaware of her general airiness. "Is there any chance you could point the way towards town then?" Or if she wanted to take him that way, that was fine too.
no subject
"You might not find it on your own."
Her voice was soft as she stepped a little closer. She pulled up the hood of her thick cloak hiding her cat like ears and then moved past the young boy.
"It's this way."
no subject
"Sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Yugi." Extending a hand, he forced a smile, trying not to feel too spooked by the forest.

OOC
Re: OOC
[Scenario One]
In short, he made an impression of someone suspicious so the question surprised him, but he tried to not show it in his expression. He was looking a the stranger that had asked him the question. A human. He must be new around here, Yuto thought to himself.
"I know it too well." he replied after a moment.
no subject
"Is there any chance you could show me around?" Yugi scratched one arm with his opposite hand and chuckled nervously. The man looked pretty suspicious, but Yugi didn't pay it any mind. "I know I'm asking a lot, it's okay if you'd rather not."
no subject
There was no response from Yuto for a longer moment as he kept watching the other. People should be more wary, especially in this place.
"There is not much to see here." he replied finally, gaze shifting to their surroundings. "But I don't mind showing you around."
yuto's been away in canon for so long that i forgot that he had a collar. collar buddies!
You're going to deal with his immense friendliness and you'll like it, Yuto."Thanks." Yugi waited for this kind stranger to make the first move before following him to who-knows-where. This guy seemed trustworthy enough, and this cinnamon roll didn't really mind the suspicious behavior. "I'm Yugi. And you are?"
haha xD
We shall see.Another "Yu". Yuto fall silent once more as if revealing his name to somebody was a difficult decisions to make.
"...I'm Yuto." he said in the end.
And then he led the way, showing Yugi around and commenting on various parts of the city in a few words. Among those comment there were also warnings. Be careful about going to this or that place and also...
"It's not wise to wander around at night."
is this tag too godmodey? :T with the first part.
"Because of the monsters?" Yeah, those things that he had heard so much about. "Not all of them are bad, right, Yuto?" Oh yeah, Yuto's gotta deal with that optimism too. Have fun!
Yuto doesn't really talk much but eh let's use it to skip the boring part xD

1!
It had been a good idea to keep an eye out for that tell-tale hair.
oh! a trustworthy, familiar face! what a relief, *right*?
"Bakura! How are you? I didn't think I'd find any of my friends here this fast." Now he was feeling confident about finding more of his companions. Maybe Bakura would be willing to help look!
absolutely^^
"Did you see all the monsters we can become here already? There's a lot more listed, but I was told that only these thirteen ones here are for real!"
are you playing around on here or were you planning on apping too?
Watch out, Spirit of the Ring, you're weirding out Yugi with that kind of talk. "Uh... I don't think this is a game, Bakura." Yugi replied with a cringe.
I haven't decided yet, actually. A bit of both.
"If it is a game, then it is the same kind that the other me used to trap my friends with." Looking thoughtful, he looked at their surroundings before returning his attention back to Yugi. It was obvious that this wasn't Domino or even anywhere close to it. "If it is such a 'real' game it should be for the best if we get familiar with the setting and the rules as fast as we can. If the others are here we should try to find them and regroup too."
Giving him an expectant look, he let his expression ease into a smile.
"Did you bring your puzzle with you, Yugi-kun? I think we really could use the support right now."
good luck if you *do* app! (^_^)b
"My Puzzle?" Bakura got a quizzical look for asking a silly question like that. "Don't you remember? I dueled the other me after we found his name and memories, and then we saw him off a while ago." Was his friend feeling okay? Then again, maybe this place was messing with his memory. They did wake up in a hospital after arriving here, after all, or Yugi had assumed the same had happened to Bakura.
Thanks! Same to you!^^
