TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

This talk of gods didn't phase him much, what with his history of a few, that and he heard a little about the gods around here too with the monster lectures.

"...How do I know who else was chosen then?" Aside from searching the whole peninsula, of course. If this place was as dangerous as he had heard, he had to know whether his friends were in danger or not.

"You can find them."

There were a lot of ways to find someone here. "You'll get a computer and be able to post. Only we have them." Or at least she thought so.

After another moment of walking she quickly adds. "I'll help."

What a relief. "Thank you, Yeul." Such a kind stranger.

A beat.

"You don't happen to know anybody who plays Duel Monsters, do you?" Asking that was worth a shot! Who knew who that he would meet here in this strange new place?

"No"

With that Yeul continued until they reached the edge of the forest. She stopped just under the trees and nodded towards the town which was now in sight. This was where she left him, trusting him to be able to cross the field without much difficulty.

"Go there and ask about your friends."

Damn, worth a shot. Perhaps he would have better luck in town like she said. He stopped and stood next to her, staring down the field before turning to look at her.

"Do you think we'll meet again?" After all, she had helped him through a spooky, scary forest, she was practically his friend already.

Yeul looked over at him and nodded. She wasn't good with meeting people or making friends but it would be nice to have others to talk to and she liked to think she was getting a little better at it.

"I'd like to."

She needs to hunt though if she was going to keep talking to him safely.

"I don't know what you look like though. How will I know if I see you around? And how will I know who you are online?"

Was he trustworthy enough for her to show him her monster form? That was for her to decide, although he had no reason to be wary of her.

Yeul hesitated for a moment before pulling down her hood. Long dark blue hair fell down her back while white cat ears tipped with black rest on top of her head. Her eyes which were a startling shade of green reflected the light eerily. Spots of fur covered the back of her neck and then disappeared below her cloak.

Her fingers which were now more noticeable in the light where long sharp claws with pads on her palms much like a feline.

She didn't say anything but instead stared at Yugi as if expecting him to run.

He noticeably flinched when she revealed herself, although she wasn't actually all that frightening and he immediately regretted it afterwards. After a moment of silence, he reached his hand out to her for a friendly handshake, if she didn't mind at all.

"Monsters aren't bad people, right, Yeul?" Another pause. "...What are you, anyway?" A cat girl...? He couldn't recall those misleading pamphlets saying anything about cat people, and he wouldn't be sure what to believe anyway with mentions of transforming into fur-bearing trout and all.

Yeul looked at his hand before taking it. "A Manticore..." She hadn't grown her tail or wings yet.

It felt awkward and his flinch hurt more than she thought it would. She wasn't good at talking with people anyway; why would she think that people would like her now? They didn't like her on Pulse either.

Chuckling nervously, he gave her hand a squeeze and a shake before letting go and letting his hand fall to his side. "Sorry, I've only seen a couple of monsters here before you. I'm still getting used to this place." Hopefully, that flinch didn't ruin their potential friendship!

"I guess it's goodbye for now. Thanks for all your help."

Yeul nodded her head, her expression completely unreadable.

"Be safe."

With that she turned and disappeared into the dense trees.
