TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

The fact that this stranger was a motorcyclist didn't bother him at all due to being friends with a couple. No bad to the bone biker stereotypes held here! But once the helmet came off, Yugi felt pretty... flabberghasted.

"Uh, yeah..." He mumbles, kind of dumbfounded. Is it obvious that he's never seen a Ryslig monster before, Crow? "Are... you one of those monsters I've heard about?" Fortunately, he's seen enough monster holograms (and not-so-much-holograms) around Domino to not be completely surprised.

Oh, yep, he's definitely used to those kinds of stares. Crow casually hangs his helmet on one of the handlebars and slides off his bike.

"That obvious?" Of course it is. Crow points a finger at Yugi. "Technically you are, too. Or you will be."

Oops, was he supposed to break that gently to the new guy?

Yugi? A monster-to-be? Impossible, he's a precious cinnamon roll gift from above!

"Er... You're yanking my chain, right, ...?" He says mostly nonchalantly and only a little bit surprised to the monstrous whale-guy in front of him. "What was your name again? I'm Yugi Mutou." Better not mention the fancy title, he's too humble and dorky for that.

Yugi... Yugi... Huh. Crow's hand goes to his chin. Why does that name sound so familiar...? He's sure he'll get it eventually. Crow holds out a hand.

"Crow. Crow Hogan." Is he mean enough to extend his claws when this other guy shakes his hand? Nah. He could actually hurt him. "'Fraid I'm not joking. I'm not actually from around here, but look at me now."

"It's nice to meet you, Crow!"

He was hesitant to touch his monstrous hand, but it didn't stop him for long from giving the other a firm handshake. "So where are you from and how long have you been here?" Might as well get to know this stranger!

Crow smiles. "Likewise, Yugi."

Letting go of Yugi's hand, Crow answers the question with, "Neo Domino City. If you haven't heard of Duel Monsters, then you won't know it." He's encountered way too many people who don't know anything about the most important thing in the world. "It's been over four months since I got here."

Way too long, in his opinion.

"I know Duel Monsters, but... Neo Domino City?" He had never heard of that place before, and holy shit, another DM player! "Is that anywhere near Domino City? That's where I'm from..."

Commenting on the length of time that Crow had spent here wasn't nearly as important as the first part of the other's response.

Wait what. He knows Duel Monsters? And is from Domino City? Crow abruptly slaps a fist into his hand. Ah, now he remembers who this guy is! "Oh! You're Yugi."

Yes, okay, Yugi had already introduced himself, but nevertheless!

"Wow, that explains a lot." Crow jerks a thumb back at himself. "Neo Domino City is Domino City, a few decades later. You're uh," he scratches the back of his head, "Kind of a legend in my time."

Crow surprised him at first by recognizing him, although predictably, he would respond in his usual way.

"A legend? I wouldn't say that..." Humble, humble, humble--- Wait, what was that first part?

"Wait... Decades?" Did he travel into the future somehow, or...?

Well, Yugi looks kinda young still. Unless he aged really well, Crow can only really guess the same deal as Noa is at work here.

"Yeah." Placing his hands on his hips, he gestures vaguely as he says, "You could say I'm from your future."
