Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

There was no response from Yuto for a longer moment as he kept watching the other. People should be more wary, especially in this place.
"There is not much to see here." he replied finally, gaze shifting to their surroundings. "But I don't mind showing you around."
yuto's been away in canon for so long that i forgot that he had a collar. collar buddies!
You're going to deal with his immense friendliness and you'll like it, Yuto."Thanks." Yugi waited for this kind stranger to make the first move before following him to who-knows-where. This guy seemed trustworthy enough, and this cinnamon roll didn't really mind the suspicious behavior. "I'm Yugi. And you are?"
haha xD
We shall see.Another "Yu". Yuto fall silent once more as if revealing his name to somebody was a difficult decisions to make.
"...I'm Yuto." he said in the end.
And then he led the way, showing Yugi around and commenting on various parts of the city in a few words. Among those comment there were also warnings. Be careful about going to this or that place and also...
"It's not wise to wander around at night."
is this tag too godmodey? :T with the first part.
"Because of the monsters?" Yeah, those things that he had heard so much about. "Not all of them are bad, right, Yuto?" Oh yeah, Yuto's gotta deal with that optimism too. Have fun!
Yuto doesn't really talk much but eh let's use it to skip the boring part xD
At first Yuto nodded in silent reply, but the second part of what Yugi had said made him frown.
"...Of course not all of them are bad. Monsters are no different from people in that sense." he paused, then looked in the distance. "...But that doesn't mean we can't be dangerous. Even if we don't want to hurt anyone..."
Yes, there was a "we" there. Despite hiding his changes Yuto wasn't really going to hide the fact that he was a monster as well. He had no intention to deceive anyone.
(uwu)b
"You're one of them, aren't you?" But there was no fear or disgust in his voice or demeanor, Yuto hadn't shown any reason for Yugi not to trust him. If asked, he wouldn't deny being curious about what this stranger looked like though.
no subject
On the other hand, he was... glad. He didn't want people to look at him with fear in their eyes. That was why he kept hiding his monster changes beneath the long cape.
"Yes." he answered simply, then approached the nearest wall that cast a shadow and leaned his back against it. He reached up to push his hood down, revealing a very human face. But his hand - it was different. With black scales and black fingernails.
Yuto crossed his arms, his grey eyes still watching the other. He was waiting for questions. Yugi certainly had to have a few of them now.
("we" as in DM people, if it wasn't obvious.)
"I'm guessing that the monsters here are different from the ones we use back home." Maybe he would drop the DM bomb on him, but he had a feeling that Duel Monsters wasn't a big thing here, since the hospital staff had no idea what he was talking about.
nah it's obvious haha
"I'm a Gargoyle."
And he had no intention of showing his monster changes to anyone, unless he was given a very good reason to do that.
At the other part he frowned.
"You have monsters in your world? And you use them?"
no subject
"Yeah... I don't suppose you've heard of Duel Monsters, have you?" Asking was worth a shot, the worst that Yuto could do was say no. Perhaps he might know somebody here who plays? Maybe.
no subject
"You play Duel Monsters too?" Yuto sounded clearly surprised. There were a lot of duelist here already and he still couldn't quite believe it. But since Yugi is a duelist too, then the question is...
"Where are you from?" And then he narrowed his eyes a little bit: "Have you ever heard about Duel Academia?"
no subject
He kept his hand up to his chin to ponder before answering. Hmm, Duel Academia... Didn't ring a bell because Kaiba hadn't created it yet. "I've never heard of Duel Academia... But I'm from Domino. What about you?"
no subject
But Yugi didn't know about Academia and Yuto had never heard about Domino. Did that mean more worlds connected to his own? Or maybe Domino was a city in one of the four Dimensions, but he just never heard about it?
"...I'm from Heartland."
no subject
"Do you mind telling me who's here? I'm looking for my friends, I don't know if they're here too."
no subject
But the question about friends...
"Most of the duelists here are friends from... my world. I don't think you know them."
no subject
"I don't use Fusion, but... what are XYZ and Synchro summoning?" Since when were there those kinds of summoning methods? Were those a thing in his world?!
no subject
Since Yugi didn't know what Xyz or Synchro were, Yuto in silence took out his own deck and browsed through it until he found the card he was looking for. He showed it to Yugi. It was a black card with a ghost knight on a horse - Phantom Knights Break Sword.
"This is an Xyz monster." he explained. "If there are two or more monster of the same level on the field you can overlay them to summon an Xyz monster from the extra deck."
no subject
Yugi looked back up at his new friend. "What's Synchro Summoning though?" Did Yuto use that kind of summoning as well?
no subject
"You need a tuner monster to Synchro Summon a monster from extra deck." He looked at his own card. "The cards for Synchro monsters are white unlike Xyz monsters." Then he looked again at Yugi. "But if you want to learn more about them I suggest finding someone who uses them."
no subject
These new summoning methods were a lot to take in. He had to see them in action when he got the chance! "Thanks for the info, Yuto. And thanks for showing me around." A pause.
"Do you know where I could stay the night here?" He asked, hoping for directions to an inn or something, rather than expecting Yuto to give this stranger a place to stay.
