TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Jataro Kemuri | Danganronpa Another Episode
[This was honestly the worst, most horrible situation Jataro could imagine being stuck in. There are adults everywhere and here he is without any of the Warriors of Hope or even a Monokuma to help him. Sure, it's not like he couldn't kill adults on his own, but there were so many of them that it seemed like an impossible task to him now. Which is why the child has found himself a small, secluded spot to rest in, crouched behind a bench. Even if someone did come to sit on it they probably wouldn't even notice he was there. Who pays that much attention to a bench?
This whole thing was really bizarre too. He has a couple pamphlets he's looking through, confused by what any of it means or why the adults insisted on him taking them. He was going to become some kind of fur-bearing trout? Or something? This had to be some kind of cruel joke they were playing on him. Par for the course really, it was probably his fault that they decided to do that, but still come on. Fur-bearing trouts don't even exist!]
...do fur-bearing trouts exist...? [Maybe he's wrong about that...]
[Scenario Three]
An arcade...?
[Okay, so some people might think it's weird how they've suddenly found themselves spirited away to an arcade, when last they remember is walking around Bavan, but Jataro is not one of those people. After looking around a little bit, entering further into the game center, the boy quickly forgets about this strange occurrence and instead turns his attention to the games themselves.]
Wow...I've never heard of any of these games before.
[They're similar enough that he barely hesitates trying to play them though. Even though he's just tall enough to reach the controls on the panel, resting his arms on the panels themselves to be able to play comfortably, one can still find the masked kid moving from cabinet to cabinet anyway, happily lost in the immersive world of old school arcade games.]
[Wildcard]
[Or if you have a different idea/want a different prompt, throw it at me!]
wildcard because i need changes now
[And so, the two young Warriors had barricaded themselves inside at the first sign of the fog, hoping that the abandoned and derelict air of the place would continue to keep away unwanted visitors. They'd managed to go the whole month without being bothered so far, but who knew what the fog might drive those scared natives to do. But it wasn't as though they weren't prepared to take care to any guests who might come to call. Using their special brand of Warriors of Hope hospitality, that is.]
[He'd heard that the changes were painful, and so Nagisa had done his best to prepare for the worst in that regard. Mostly by way of stealing bandages and painkillers from various pharmacies around Bavan. But he was pleasantly surprised to find that, so far, he hadn't really had any need of their supplies. Just a towel to wipe his mouth with when many of his teeth had been suddenly forced out by razor sharp fangs, that was all. Shortly after that bloody episode, his eyes had stung sharply, but the pain had passed quickly and all it had done was cause his sclera to turn vividly purple. In the hours that had passed since, little else about the Sage had changed. His nails seemed to be elongating, albeit very slowly and with only a slight amount of discomfort on Nagisa's part. Actually, he found it oddly entertaining to watch them grow and sharpen. It was weird...and it wasn't as though they had much else to entertain themselves with at the moment. He really needed to get his hands on some books...why hadn't he thought to acquire some of those while on his supply-stealing adventures?]
[And so, he'd been content to sit on the floor and stare at his hands for several hours, leaning back against the hard, concrete wall of the warehouse. He thought, perhaps, that that was what was causing the sudden, dull pain in his back. He shifted and stretched a little, trying to get into a more comfortable position. And then shifted some more when his new positioning failed to lessen his discomfort. Perhaps this had nothing to do with the wall after all...]
Nngh...
[As he reached back to feel one of his shoulder blades, Nagisa glanced over at his companion. How you doing there, Jataro? You haven't started bleeding out every orifice while he wasn't looking, have you?]
how greedy
At the same time though, maybe that meant the Fog God hated him. Didn't think he'd be a good enough monster to give him anything cool for their first fog. Ruin the whole experience for him...and he was pretty okay with that idea. Don't think he hasn't noticed your shifting though, friend. A little lost in thought he may be, when the sage finally reached for his shoulder Jataro figured it wouldn't hurt to speak up.]
Does your shoulder hurt?
[It's a little obvious that it's probably his shoulder, but there's no harm in asking right? Though didn't he get painkillers...? Has he not thought to use them yet or something?
...nah, this is Nagisa. He'll think about it if he needs it, probably.]
fite me, ho
[Surely, though, the boy would roll up his sleeves if he felt anything weird on his hands or arms? Maybe he's just a late bloomer...]
[Nagisa, meanwhile, seems to have acquired another change at some point during the silence. Unbeknownst to either of them, his lips have turned the same vividly purple hue as his sclera. But they hadn't burned or bled or even itched, so not even the Sage himself had noticed. He shakes his head.]
No, my back is just a little sore. I think I've been sitting in this position for too long, that's all.
[Though, just to be sure he continues moving his fingers over his upper back as best he can, clearly feeling for anything out of place. Finding nothing, however, he instead stretches out and shifts to face Jataro.]
What about you? Does anything hurt or feel different?
nah
He shakes his head a little in response to the question.]
I don't think so. Or...I don't feel like it is?
[Actually, let him give this some thought, patting down his arms through his sleeves, his chest, stretching out his legs to look at those...though instead of confirming that nothing's changed, he asks a question of his own.]
Hey, why are you wearing lipstick?
no subject
[He pulls his hand away to look at his fingers. They're completely clean. Not only that, but his lips are unsmudged and just as purple as they were before. So it's pretty safe to say it's not lipstick that's stained his lips.]
no subject
[Why would your lips be purple if it's not lipstick? Oh, wait...don't you turn blue and purple if it's freezing?]
Ohh...I didn't think it was really warm in here, but I'm not that cold. But if you're so cold your lips are turning purple... Maybe you should run around in circles until you warm up again.
[Don't worry Nagisa. Jataro is here to take care of you. Aren't you glad you have someone like him to support you?]
...I wonder if your lips are gonna fall off.
no subject
[Nagisa begins looking around the warehouse for anything reflective he can use to get a look at his own lips. Darnit, where is a mirror when you need it???]
no subject
[Sorry, what did you say? He definitely didn't hear you.]
But then...how could you eat if you had a beak? Would you have to eat birdseed? I don't think birds could eat a human very well. Maybe you'd have to peck out their eyeballs or something...a bird with sharp teeth would be scary. Especially one like a pelican, with its really really big beak.
[He's definitely lost in his own little world now, thinking of all the birds that would looks creepiest with sharp teeth. Though he raises a hand to his head, frowning a bit.]
I think thinking about that kind of thing is making my head hurt...birds aren't supposed to have teeth after all...
no subject
[Please stop talking about his lips falling off, Jataro, you're just making him freak out even more. Nobody wants to think about something like that!!]
[But something that Jataro says is enough to bring the haze of panic settling in Nagisa to a halt. Thinking about bird teeth is making his head hurt? But he only just started talking about that. Plus...since when does Jataro get headaches from thinking about weird and freaky things in a rambling manner? Nagisa takes a deep breath, attempting to regain his usual calm composure.]
Are you sure it's a regular headache, Jataro? Do you want some aspirin?
no subject
What else would it be? My head just kinda hurts...
[And that's what a headache is, right? He nods though. Yes, he would like some aspirin! Please...]
no subject
[Upon reaching Jataro's side, Nagisa squats down next to him and twists open the bottle of aspirin. He shakes a single pill into his hand and holds it out to his friend.] It just seems odd to me that you would get a headache so quickly over something so trivial. This is hardly the most bizarre train of thought you have ever entertained...
no subject
[He takes the pill and pops it into his mouth after that, chewing it and giving the matter some thought.]
But if my head hurts because I'm getting changes, what do you think it'd be?
[Wait...]
You don't think my brain is changing do you? What if it's growing something that's gonna pop out my ears? Or what if I'm one of those zombie monsters and it's gonna rot out?!
no subject
I guess it could be your brain changing. It seems as though there are a fair number f psychological changes to accompany the physical ones. Perhaps headaches are a common side effect of such changes. Though... [He raises his hands and shakes his head.] I doubt you need to worry about your brain rotting out. I've yet to see or hear of an undead monster that was truly mindless like a stereotypical zombie.
[He frowns, lifting a hand back to his lips, not to feel it for lipstick this time but in contemplation.]
Where exactly does it hurt? What part of your head, I mean.
no subject
Uhh...it feels like my forehead, kind of? Right above my eyes...that's where it's worst.
[It's sort of an all over ache. Growing horns is a pretty painful process, after all!]
no subject
[He looks a little concerned. If they ARE going to have psychological changes, it would make the most sense for that part of the brain to be affected but...who knows what those changes could be? It's kind of a scary thought, now that he's faced with it. What if they change so drastically that they cannot truly be considered themselves any longer?]
Though, given that this is a matter of monsters, there's a chance it could be...
[He trails off, reaching up and feeling Jataro's forehead through his mask without any kind of warning. There are many different kinds of monsters with horns, antlers, or the like. And if it's on his forehead...]
no subject
[Hold on here, your hands are way too close to both that mask and his face Nagisa. What are you planning, what are you doing? You're not trying to take his mask off are you?
Despite his concern he holds still, because while the thought of having his mask removed is pretty scary, he's sure that out of any of the Warriors Nagisa wouldn't be the one to suddenly try and remove it. Probably.
However, horns are absolutely right. Gold star, little sage. He'll easily be able to feel two small, hard lumps through the mask. They aren't very big at all, and since there's no blood dripping out of his mask they likely haven't broken skin yet.]
no subject
...horns. Your head hurts because you're growing horns, Jataro. Here, feel. There are two little bumps right here...
no subject
When he's told to feel his own forehead, he reaches up with a hand, rubbing at his mask a little. There's a noise of surprise when he feels those bumps, the boy shaking his hands free of his sleeves so he can feel them better with both.]
Horns? You mean like...a rhinoceros? Or a triceratops?
[What do you mean there aren't really any monsters like that?]
no subject
Or a ram or a goat...any number of animals, really. Or maybe an oni, we are turning into monsters, after all. There's nothing that says they have to be horns belonging to an actual animal.
[He shifts from his squatting position to sit cross-legged on the floor.]
But there's no way to know right now. We'll have to wait until they break the skin to see what kind of horns they are.
no subject
If I'm turning into an oni, I'll have to find a club...you can't be one without that. Do you think they make clubs small enough that I could use one?
[Has he connected the "seeing" his horns with the fact that they'd need to remove his mask for that? Nope. Not at all. He's too enchanted by the idea of growing horns in the first place.]
no subject
[Wow, he thought you were the Super Elementary School Level Arts & Crafts Period. What is this "to they make" crap??]
no subject
I'll need the perfect wood...something hard enough to bash all those demons' skulls in, but nothing that'll be too hard to work with...and some chisels and sand paper...a really nice stain or varnish for when it's done...
[He'll make the perfect club!]
I think most people use lathes to make stuff like that...but I can probably do it without one if I have all the right stuff...hey, hey. If you become an oni too, Shingetsu-kun, I can make you a club too, okay?
no subject
[As with a nail-spiked bat, for instance. Those aren't nearly as destructive as you would think.]
[He believes in you though, Jataro. You can do it! You can make the best club.]
Alright. If I turn into an oni, I leave it to you. But somehow, I don't think I am. My teeth are all wrong for an oni.
[He bares his now razor sharp fangs for emphasis. No underbite, no jutting and oddly angled canines... They really don't look anything like typical oni teeth at all.]
no subject
[A baseball bat or club on its own is alright, but the fact that they carry studded ones is what makes oni clubs superior. They'd definitely do a lot more damage and be much more fun to wield.
He seems pretty pleased that Nagisa's willing to leave that up to him, and leans in a little to look at those teeth when the other boy shows them off.]
Wow...maybe they aren't oni teeth but they're scary teeth. They look really dangerous...
