TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

If I'm turning into an oni, I'll have to find a club...you can't be one without that. Do you think they make clubs small enough that I could use one?
[Has he connected the "seeing" his horns with the fact that they'd need to remove his mask for that? Nope. Not at all. He's too enchanted by the idea of growing horns in the first place.]
no subject
[Wow, he thought you were the Super Elementary School Level Arts & Crafts Period. What is this "to they make" crap??]
no subject
I'll need the perfect wood...something hard enough to bash all those demons' skulls in, but nothing that'll be too hard to work with...and some chisels and sand paper...a really nice stain or varnish for when it's done...
[He'll make the perfect club!]
I think most people use lathes to make stuff like that...but I can probably do it without one if I have all the right stuff...hey, hey. If you become an oni too, Shingetsu-kun, I can make you a club too, okay?
no subject
[As with a nail-spiked bat, for instance. Those aren't nearly as destructive as you would think.]
[He believes in you though, Jataro. You can do it! You can make the best club.]
Alright. If I turn into an oni, I leave it to you. But somehow, I don't think I am. My teeth are all wrong for an oni.
[He bares his now razor sharp fangs for emphasis. No underbite, no jutting and oddly angled canines... They really don't look anything like typical oni teeth at all.]
no subject
[A baseball bat or club on its own is alright, but the fact that they carry studded ones is what makes oni clubs superior. They'd definitely do a lot more damage and be much more fun to wield.
He seems pretty pleased that Nagisa's willing to leave that up to him, and leans in a little to look at those teeth when the other boy shows them off.]
Wow...maybe they aren't oni teeth but they're scary teeth. They look really dangerous...
no subject
Of course they are. I wouldn't be much of a monster if the changes weren't scary, would I? And teeth like these are far better suited for ripping flesh...
[As he says this, his smirk fades a little, to be replaced briefly with a conflicted expression. The same expression that usually shows up on those rare occasions whenever the people eating subject is broached.]
[He can't honestly ever say he had any aspirations to be a cannibal, and he's not crazy about the idea of eating adults, but...at the same time, everything they'd done as the Warriors of Hope had kind of softened the blow. If he'd been brought here before he'd met Junko, he's sure he'd have been more bothered by the revelation. But now...]
no subject
[Uh...]
Or whatever the other ones do?
[He only paid a little attention to that kind of stuff. The most he can remember is that neither of the other two involve eating meat...]
I wonder what kind of monster you'll be...
no subject
[His face returns to its usual calm, close-lipped expression. Goodbye for now, teeth.]
Though, from the data I've been able to gather thusfar about the monsters that inhabit Ryslig...meat eaters seem to be the most common. Then those that drain energy, followed by the soul eaters, and then vampires as the sole blood drainers.
[So, he wouldn't exactly be surprised if he winds up a meant eater. Probability says he will be.]
no subject
[That's what you're saying there, right? He tilts his head a little.]
Also...only people the Fog God brings here turn into monsters, right? None of the people already living here do. So do you think if aliens invaded, they'd also turn into monsters? Or...would they not, since they'd be from Ryslig space and not Earth space?
no subject
[Of course, that's no guarantee. As evidenced by the fact that NEITHER of them eat meat. Not that they can possibly be aware of that right now...]
Er... [What the hell Jataro. What does that have to do with anything?] If I had to guess, I would say the latter. Since it seems as though her powers have no effect on beings that come from her native universe. She can only transform those stolen from other points in the multiverse.
no subject
[Sorry Nagisa. What were they talking about? Whatever it was is apparently being put on pause.]
no subject
[Okay, they can talk about hypothetical alien invasions, he guesses. Why not.]
no subject
[That's probably not how it works, but not like he knows. Who knows what aliens can do.]
And then those aliens could start making other monsters into aliens too. Or control our minds and make us work for them!
no subject
[Holy shit, Jataro.]
I really don't think we have to worry about that happening. You've seen the technology level of Ryslig, cloning just isn't possible here. And since we only arrive with little more than our clothes...
[You see what he's getting at here? Alien monster clones are highly impossible. Mind control, though...that he's not so sure of. So he's just not going to comment on that.]
no subject
[They're super smart and technologically advanced and can do anything right?]
Probably, anyway. Maybe they'd just invent the cloning machines.
no subject
Again, I really don't think this is something to worry about at the moment. There are just too many variables to a hypothetical alien invasion, it's impossible to predict an outcome for something like that.
[Anything is possible. How did they even get on this topic, anyway??]
Shouldn't you be more concerned about your transformation into a monster? Or our second attempt at a children's paradise? We cannot stay hidden in this warehouse forever, eventually we are going to have to start taking steps towards that goal once more.
[Only take two is going to have to be way different than take one. They don't have their battle robots or the Monokuma army here. Or the brainwashing helmets. Large-scale revolt isn't really an option in Ryslig.]
no subject
[At the mention of that, Jataro looks immediately depressed. He ducks his head a little, frowning deeply.]
Will we even be able to do that here? It's just us...we don't have the others or our Monokumas or anything...I probably won't even be very helpful at all either...I'll probably mess up all your great plans and ruin everything.
[Even though he's confident in Nagisa's brains and skills, he's not so sure that the two of them alone could do any real damage to the demons here, or make a whole lot of progress towards their paradise. As much as he'd like to...]
no subject
[He probably should have seen that response coming. Nagisa is quiet for a moment, clearly thinking on his words.]
The situation here is different. Not to mention... [He hesitates, looking uncertain.] Well, it's as I told you our first day here: Monaka's plan was never to create a peaceful paradise. To use her methods again will likely not get us what we want, but that does not mean that the goal itself is unattainable.
[He gives Jataro a very serious, determined look.]
It simply means that we must adapt and adjust; if our situation is different, so must be our plan and method. To take over Bavan or Vandare the way we took over Towa City is impossible on our own, you are right about that much. But there is a lot of empty, unsettled space in this peninsula. If we could simply fmanage to build a town or city of our own, away from any of the demons' cities... Don't you think we could defend something like that on our own, once we become fully fledged monsters? Kill any adults that come near, be they human or monster? Even if we are never joined by Daimon or Kotoko-chan?
no subject
...I could defend something like that...
[If it starts out without any demons, he could definitely defend it from demons.]
And if we build our own city, we could put only the best stuff in it! It would be a lot better for kids that way than just taking one that demons have put a bunch of dumb demon stuff in...
[More ice cream shops, less business places!!]
no subject
[And Jataro, with all his talent for creating and building, is perhaps the best Warrior to have wound up here alongside Nagisa. Not that he's going to mention this. When it comes to building the priest's self esteem, one has to use a light touch.]
One of our biggest hurdles in Towa City was that failing to kill every last demon would mean that eventually they would come and destroy our paradise. As monsters, that issue is not so pressing. I believe that the demons of this world will, for the most part, leave us alone for fear of being attacked and eaten by monsters.
