TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

• The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
• There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

But I suppose you're about to tell me that no one has any idea who is responsible for that, either?

On the contrary~ [The taunting reaction has increased Exponentially. children truly are pains] We know exactly who, just not how to drag her out in order to make her reverse all of this.

She fancies herself a god of all of this, [he adds, bowing his head somewhat.] Whether or not you care to believe in that sort of title, she is powerful though, I give her that.

No, Lucius does not believe in "gods". But he does believe in great wizards, and he certainly believes in the Dark Lord.

It's all the same thing, really, in the end.]

So that's the story, then? Some powerful witch has contrived to bring me here? To what end?

Hn! Well I've never heard anyone call her a 'witch'...

As for 'why', she seems to have an abundance of spare time, coupled with enjoyment in watching things suffer. [He gestures over himself.] One month-you have one month before fog rolls in, and 'changes' start.

[Winry has just recently managed to escape her own crowd of well meaning pamphlet distributors and is glancing through the titles in the stack, her brows knitting tighter and tighter together after each one. What in the world is going on here? Is this some kind of weird cultural thing in this place?

By the time Fletcher approaches her, she is all too glad to shift her attention away from the crazy pamphlets. She smiles at the boy, tilting her head in consideration.]

What does your brother look like? I may have seem him.

[ He watches, surprised when the panda takes on a human form. It's like watching Beast Boy change right in front of him...despite the fact this isn't Beast Boy. Despite a lot of things. He's honestly not sure what to say right now, to be very honest.

Robin takes another look at the pamphlets, then back to the stranger. ] Care to explain how this happens?

[ He's tired, he's hurting, his temper's a little edgier than usual. Excuse him. ]

[ Now this is kind of weird. This kid is talking about payphones, but the best form of communication they have is a laptop? There was no way there could be such a huge gap in technology. At least, not that major. Robin didn't live way back in the early 1900's, but he was perfectly sure that laptops weren't quite a thing yet.

He would bring it up, but he finally gets a hint at where he's at. Ryslig. It's a name Robin's never heard of before. He didn't study the globe religiously of course, but if there was a town somewhere that threatened to turn ordinary people into monsters, it would at least be news worthy. It was a little concerning to know that something like this was going on, but no news coverage was broadcasted. Or maybe that was a good thing? Who knew? ]

Is Ryslig the name of the town we're in?

Well the short of it is the fog rolls in after a month, and for every fog after that you start turning into some sort of beasty until the bitter end of it. Then you're just sort of stuck that way.

The long version though, you're going to have to ask for, just in case you're the type to fall asleep through that kind of thing~

Country. We're probably not on any form of Earth you're familiar with, by the way, [he adds, shrugging.] So if that's not a name you've heard of, don't be surprised.

I'm a little lost. [ More like, majorly lost. And halfway losing it because there's some very bad reminders popping their faces a little too soon. Robin's honestly trying his hardest to make sure that he doesn't let this fear show, because that's probably the last thing they both need. Some little kid watching a hero like Robin growing into an anxious wreck, and whatever neighbors were around.

Breathe in, breathe out. Try to ignore the laughing that is apparently coming from nowhere. After a night of disappearing acts and questions against his own sanity, Robin really doesn't want to deal with this right now. ]

Do you know the way out of here? [ Before he breaks down, and really regrets it. ]

[It's probably a good thing that Reira has seen greater heroes 'fall', then-watching Robin panic might make him judge the other a little, but a dismissive sigh would be a low price if it meant getting out no doubt.

Not that he's doing that. For now he's simply nodding, looking toward the side.] Yep.

...I could probably just fly you out though. [That's somehow even worse than watching a hero break down, probably.]

[Then she'd need a way to protect herself. Yeah, he gets it. But that's exactly what disturbs him about this whole situation. It's just not right that. Ordinary people shouldn't have to carry knives around. Ordinary people shouldn't have to worry about being attacked by criminals, beasts, monsters, witches, demons, and more.]

What kind of place is this?

[Jiro shakes his head.]

Someone should be protecting the people here.

[Where's the law enforcement? Where are the heroes that are supposed to save people in need?]

[ When he's lifted up like that, Ron starts to giggle. He's feeling so tall all of a sudden! He can see so far!

He's forgetting all about being pretty hungry for a few moments. ]

I can see to the north pole!

[ And then they're getting crowded and he can't see the north pole anymore. ]

[Friends are a new thing for Freya too but she can't leave a young boy by himself. It just isn't in her.]

Yup! You ready to find out where on earth we are?

[Freya looks at the pamphlet with a raised eyebrow.]

This isn't how being a werewolf works.

[She doesn't know much about this place but she knows that much.]

[ He nods enthusiastically. It's probably good to know where they are. Is this death? It doesn't look like the heaven or hell he's been described. ]

[She takes the boy's hand and leads them out towards this strange city. The first thing she does is talk to someone handing out fliers but this didn't really help. They just shove a pamphlet into her hand and try to push her on her way.

Freya looks down at the paper and turns it over.]

What to do when you feel like eating people? [She reads the title out loud.]

This... doesn't really make sense. [In any part of the world.]

[ Ron stands on his tiptoes to read along with her. And blinks. ]

[ He does not yet quite know the word cannibalism. ]

[Freya does know people who do that but she considers them monsters, hunting humans like it's so sick sport.]

[ It's a bit wobbly to tiptoe for so long, so he grips her clothes to steady himself and look at it. He's not a quick reader, especially not with only being able to read some words here and there, and not the long ones. ]

You think you're that great, huh? Well I see everything.

[He points to his eyes, then back to her.]

No sneak thief could get the drop on me. I've got eyes in the back of my whoa!

[Just then, his legs slip free of the branch he'd had them wrapped around and he comes crashing to the dirt.]

[Freya knows a lot about maps, it happens when you live off of one because you can't afford to use map quest on a cell phone.]

I don't think a place like that exists... they were talking about the continent, not the town...

[Which has her very worried.]

If I could see the stars I might be able to recognize something... [She doesn't know any of the stars names but she knows rough placements and the super obvious ones like orion's belt. Her older brother had taught her when she was little.]

Obviously she has magic, what else would she be.

[The impatience in his tone isn't only condescending now, it's resentful. Like it's a burden he has to stop and explain such an obvious fact.]

We shall see. I may have been disarmed, for the moment, but once I reclaim my wand or find a suiting replacement I shall be able to defend myself from any attempts to curse or transfigure my person.
