TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[ Ron stands on his tiptoes to read along with her. And blinks. ]

People eat people?

[ He does not yet quite know the word cannibalism. ]

Let's hope not.

[Freya does know people who do that but she considers them monsters, hunting humans like it's so sick sport.]

It looks like this place is called Ryslig.

[She's flipping through another pamphlet.]

That's not in Japan... I think...

[ It's a bit wobbly to tiptoe for so long, so he grips her clothes to steady himself and look at it. He's not a quick reader, especially not with only being able to read some words here and there, and not the long ones. ]

[Freya knows a lot about maps, it happens when you live off of one because you can't afford to use map quest on a cell phone.]

I don't think a place like that exists... they were talking about the continent, not the town...

[Which has her very worried.]

If I could see the stars I might be able to recognize something... [She doesn't know any of the stars names but she knows rough placements and the super obvious ones like orion's belt. Her older brother had taught her when she was little.]

Maybe we're in space.

[ He knows for a fact there are aliens. ]

You mean another plant? You can't breath in space, it's a vacuum though did you know that there is friction in space.

[She looks down at the boy and remembers that he's five years old. He might not even know what friction is.]

Nevermind. [Freya waves her free hand.]

The next question is... how did we get here.

But there's aliens.

[ More like he doesn't know what a vacuum is, so he just knows there's something he doesn't know what it is that you can't do in space. ]

Maybe we're dead.

I don't think dead people feel this sore.

[It might just be her though.]

Where are their aliens?

[She has only seen people so far.]

They don't?

[ Isn't he dead though? He tried to drown himself but then he passed out (releasing his powers and the water disappearing, but Ron doesn't know that). ]

Who's aliens?

No and you said there were aliens.

[Freya squints down at him.]

Yeah, of course there is.

[ Why is she questioning that a five year old believes in aliens though? ]

[Freya isn't used to kids so she's assuming he has a reason he's saying there are aliens.]

What do these aliens look like?

I don't know, they're in space.

[ He hasn't really met one. But they're the ones behind the suicide virus. ]

[Freya's free hand smacks her forehead making a loud audible sound. A few people look over at her before resuming their tasks.]

I should have guessed that. Okay, I am not sure if aliens exist but let's focus on what's happening here... okay?

[ He pouts. But yes, he'll try to focus on that other thing. Still got to point it out; ]

Aliens are real.

[Freya sighs softly.]

Yeah... aliens are real.

[Arguments she didn't think she'd have.]

Someday you need to tell me what you think they look like.

Okay.

[ He'll pinky promise on that. Which is why he holds up his tiny hand, sticking out his pinky for her to promise with. ]

[This child is too cute and Freya's pretty sure he'll be the death of her. She crouches down so that she's closer to him, not that she's particularly tall in the first place, and loop her pinky around his.]

It's a promise.

[A very strange promise.]

[ She might not be tall for her age, but she's still a lot taller than Ron, who happily locks his finger with hers. ]

Pinky promise pledge: If you're lying, I'll make you drink a thousand needles. Pinky promised!

[ What do you mean that's creepy and not how the American rhyme goes? ]

[Freya just laughs.]

Okay.

[It is just as creepy as ring-around-the-rosey.]

So now do you want to go find out more about this place?

[ Well, Ron is the one who promised to do something, so he's the one who has to swallow the needles. ]

Okay.

[ He slips his tiny hand in hers. ]

[Freya isn't going to make a five year old boy swallow needles. No matter what they promise.]

Just stay close.

[She shakes her head, feeling a smile tug at her lips. He's a cute kid.]

Okay!

[ He wonders just for a second if having an older sister felt like this. He's never had any family, so he doesn't know.

If they're walking, he's staying next to her, not letting go of her hand. ]

Where are we going?

[Freya used to have a younger sister. She used to have a family and prior to this minute she’s tried to avoid gaining a new one. She doesn’t want to lose them again but at the same time, she just can’t bring herself to leave this kid alone.

Light gray eyes look down at him.]

First we’re going to find a place to sleep for the night. Then details about where we are. Once we have that sorted we can see what we want to do.

[It isn’t like either of them have a home to go back too.]

Sound like a plan?

[ Eyes so dark they're nearly black looks back up at her, and he nods. ]

Yeah, it does.

[ It was a much more concrete plan than the ones Asou usually had. That was more along the lines of take the train with Ron hiding in the suitcase or Ron pickpocketing money because they didn't have any of that so they couldn't stay anywhere. ]

I don't have any money.
