TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.
There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.
SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.
Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.
Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.
SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Re: 1
"Yes I suppose I'm new here. Do you know where we are?"
[Such a curious looking boy... with outrageous hair and slickly green skin. He couldn't possibly be normal; not with that complexion!]
no subject
We're on Ryslig peninsula. And I'm... sorry.
[He felt the need to apologize on behalf of this god forsaken place. But that might have not been clear. Not that he did anything to clear it up.]
no subject
[Well things were just getting stranger by the minute. In all his travels, he'd never heard of "Ryslig" and it certainly wasn't on any map he'd ever encountered. So first he had to deal with the mystery of how he ended up here.]
no subject
As far as I know... Ryslig is like a different dimension. One you can't escape from...
[Yuya began, and then looked at himself, specifically his claws.]
For whatever reason the 'god' of this place just... Takes people and brings them here. I-it's not even fair! I just got back home and then I-
[He cleared his throat. No need to over share.]
Sorry, not important. [Clearly.] This place changes you over time too. I... That's about all the details I know.
[He always avoided sharing the 'monster' bit.]
no subject
"Honestly your story doesn't make a lot of sense. But I'm inclined to believe you."
[After the things he had witnessed with the orb and the machine; it didn't surprise Oswald in the slightest to discover that he had been whisked away by a mischievous god.]
"It would explain why I'm still alive."
no subject
[Yuya tilted his head, he could guess what the man meant by that. Yet he was hoping what he was thinking wasn't the case.]
It didn't make a lot of sense to me either. But why else would I be...
[He shook his head, and mumbled to himself. Again he was denying his own changes.]
oh look you gave him PTSD
Without even realizing it, Oswald had started to hyperventilate and he could feel his heart beating even faster. He closed his eyes and started mumbling to himself.]
"Boys... boys... my darlings... I'm so sorry. Please forgive your father."
no subject
[Yuya went to comfort the poor guy, he wasn't sure what else he could do. So he gently placed a hand on the mans shoulder.]
A-are you okay? I don't know what I did, I'm sorry.
no subject
"I'm quite sorry for my sudden lapse. I don't know what came over me..."
[It took a few minutes to finally calm back down from his fright. But he was thankful to have someone there by his side. He cursed his thoughts for bringing him back to such a dark place.]
no subject
[Well, he can say he never expected things to go... Well like this.]
I can lead you to town- maybe. I mean, if you want-
[Yuya was unsure how to go about this. He didn't want to cause... Something else bad to happen.]
no subject
[Suddenly Oswald felt as if the weight of the world was on him because his knees buckled underneath him as he attempted to walk away. He fell to the ground with a thud.]
"Okay... maybe I need some help."
no subject
Ah! Let me help you back up.
[But as he scrambled to try and lift the man off the ground, he didn't really pay attention to his claws... And accidentally clawed the man.]
angst angst angst...
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Are you alright?!"
OH NO... THE BOY IS FRAGILE DONT DO THAT
[He didn't say anything else, couldn't say anything else. He just looked at his claws and then grimaced.]
I-it's fine.
[It is absolutely not fine. But Yuya would never admit that, to himself or to others.]
I shouldn't touch anything. [He looked at his claws again, before clenching his fist. He didn't even care that it hurt, he probably deserved it. No, he definitely deserved it.] All I do is hurt...
Re: OH NO... THE BOY IS FRAGILE DONT DO THAT
[This brought back thoughts of his own children... how he betrayed their trust and brought about their demise. Their tiny hands raised up towards him for the relief that would never come as he killed them on those temple steps. The light fading in their eyes, full of sorrow and agony.]
"I can't be around you. Or I'll hurt you more."
no subject
[Just don't say anything, don't say anything ever.]
I can call someone, maybe someone in town will help? Is that okay?
no subject
[With shaky steps, Oswald got back up from where he had been sitting in the sand. But after a step, he had to stop because of the pain. Putting a hand to his stomach, he found that the claw marks had begun to bleed through his shirt.]
"Maybe... you should call someone. A doctor, perhaps."
no subject
What's with you? [He hadn't meant to sound so annoyed. So he told himself to try again.] Er, I'll get you a doctor, but I can't... I can't just leave you here!
no subject
[The bleeding was getting worse and Oswald put a hand to his stomach in a fruitless effort to stop the bleeding. But regardless of the pain, he couldn't help but laugh at the situation.]
"Listen to me, boy. I've been through so much worse than this. I'll be fine."
no subject
Do you not hear yourself right now? You want me to just leave you here to bleed out?
[He looked the man dead in the eyes.]
I don't even know if I'll be able to get a doctor to follow me out here, especially looking like... Like some freak!
[Yuya looked at his claws again, and then approached.]
Listen, I'll be extra careful, but I'm NOT leaving you here!
no subject
His desperation.
His pain.
The weight of everything that had occurred finally falling down upon him.]
"Don't you understand?! I should be dead right now!"
[And yet his heart was still beating in his chest, even now. No, it was beating even faster with the accelerated emotions he was displaying.]
"I WANT to be dead! I should be alive-- not to cause more pain than I have."
"I WANT to disappear; to fade away. To be unseen. But god damnit, this world won't let me leave it!"
[The tears were flowing from his eyes now. How had it come to this point? He had to put up a façade of strength and yet this child was pulling him apart and revealing his greatest weaknesses. He just wanted to be left alone on that beach so he could bleed to death. But here he was, crying his eyes out. And it was... embarrassing, to say the least.]
"I have no heart. Absolutely none at all."
no subject
I don't care if you want to be dead! ["I don't want to be responsible for someone's death again!"
the last part went unspoken.]
And obviously you have a heart, why else would you be bleeding!?
[He added while continuing to try and drag the man off the sand.]
no subject
[Nor did he know the things that he did. Why couldn't this child understand his desperation? He couldn't be allowed to live. The fact that he was still alive, even now... Well it was proof that whatever 'god' reigned over this place had a sick sense of humor.]
"Just leave me here so I can bleed out onto the sand and finally be free from this mortal realm!"
[Oswald begun to dig his heels in the sand, trying desperately to keep the boy from dragging him.]
no subject
[He yelled between breaths, he'd managed to pull the man to the grass line with minimal damage to his sleeves in the process.]
You'll just come back- you... you don't stay dead here... So why continue being in pain?
no subject
[Oswald had yelled that louder than he'd planned but it reflected his feelings at the moment.]
"Y-you're lying."
[It sounded nigh impossible but truly if this was a fact then... he was in for a world of pain. The 'god' of this realm must be laughing at him; amused by his fruitless attempts to escape from his fate.]
