Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

N-no wait! I'm fine, really!

[Just don't say anything, don't say anything ever.]

I can call someone, maybe someone in town will help? Is that okay?

"P-please... I don't want to hurt you again. I have to leave."

[With shaky steps, Oswald got back up from where he had been sitting in the sand. But after a step, he had to stop because of the pain. Putting a hand to his stomach, he found that the claw marks had begun to bleed through his shirt.]

"Maybe... you should call someone. A doctor, perhaps."

[What is this guys deal? Obviously he was hurt worse than him, why couldn't he see that? Was it worth even arguing over? Yuya's brow furrowed as he thought, and when the man finally asked him to get a doctor he spoke.]

What's with you? [He hadn't meant to sound so annoyed. So he told himself to try again.] Er, I'll get you a doctor, but I can't... I can't just leave you here!

"Its really no problem. Go and get a doctor."

[The bleeding was getting worse and Oswald put a hand to his stomach in a fruitless effort to stop the bleeding. But regardless of the pain, he couldn't help but laugh at the situation.]

"Listen to me, boy. I've been through so much worse than this. I'll be fine."

[Okay, now the boy was getting upset.]

Do you not hear yourself right now? You want me to just leave you here to bleed out?

[He looked the man dead in the eyes.]

I don't even know if I'll be able to get a doctor to follow me out here, especially looking like... Like some freak!

[Yuya looked at his claws again, and then approached.]

Listen, I'll be extra careful, but I'm NOT leaving you here!

[And with that, finally Oswald's temper broke through.

His desperation.
His pain.

The weight of everything that had occurred finally falling down upon him.]

"Don't you understand?! I should be dead right now!"

[And yet his heart was still beating in his chest, even now. No, it was beating even faster with the accelerated emotions he was displaying.]

"I WANT to be dead! I should be alive-- not to cause more pain than I have."

"I WANT to disappear; to fade away. To be unseen. But god damnit, this world won't let me leave it!"

[The tears were flowing from his eyes now. How had it come to this point? He had to put up a façade of strength and yet this child was pulling him apart and revealing his greatest weaknesses. He just wanted to be left alone on that beach so he could bleed to death. But here he was, crying his eyes out. And it was... embarrassing, to say the least.]

"I have no heart. Absolutely none at all."

[Okay, a lot of things were said right there, but that didn't matter. Nothing this man could say would change Yuya's mind. So without even asking he grabbed the mans arms in an attempt to drag him.]

I don't care if you want to be dead! ["I don't want to be responsible for someone's death again!"

the last part went unspoken.]

And obviously you have a heart, why else would you be bleeding!?

[He added while continuing to try and drag the man off the sand.]

"Really? You're still going to help me? You don't even know who I' am!"

[Nor did he know the things that he did. Why couldn't this child understand his desperation? He couldn't be allowed to live. The fact that he was still alive, even now... Well it was proof that whatever 'god' reigned over this place had a sick sense of humor.]

"Just leave me here so I can bleed out onto the sand and finally be free from this mortal realm!"

[Oswald begun to dig his heels in the sand, trying desperately to keep the boy from dragging him.]

Ugh, you don't GET IT do you!?

[He yelled between breaths, he'd managed to pull the man to the grass line with minimal damage to his sleeves in the process.]

You'll just come back- you... you don't stay dead here... So why continue being in pain?

"WHAT?"

[Oswald had yelled that louder than he'd planned but it reflected his feelings at the moment.]

"Y-you're lying."

[It sounded nigh impossible but truly if this was a fact then... he was in for a world of pain. The 'god' of this realm must be laughing at him; amused by his fruitless attempts to escape from his fate.]

I wish I was...

[Yuya was being as truthful as he could right now.]

The 'fog god' just takes you here and does whatever she wants with you and your soul... Apparently I've been here before, but I don't remember it...

[It was the whole reason he had gotten into a fight with Reira. He was him and not him. If he had identity issues before, he definitely had them now.

He pulled again, dragging the man just a bit further before continuing.]

Y-you don't even get a say in the matter... [He grimaced and continued.] She's no god...

[Oswald couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was going to just be another plaything for a higher being? Some god-like being that had summoned him here to act as her puppet? Well he would reject her. He would reject being anyone's puppet or plaything.]

"I won't let myself be a toy for anyone!"

[Yuya still continued to drag the man as he talked. He was still far from town... Progress was slow, but he grunted in agreement.]

I don't want to be either... I refuse the fog gods gifts, she's no god!

[Looks like the boy has a grudge against god as well.]

[Upon hearing the child's declaration, Oswald nodded in agreement.]

"I'm going to choose my own destiny from now on! I won't let neither god nor machine control me. I will make my own path and follow it!"

[But if he was going to do that... the first thing he had to do was make a choice between living or dying. And if it was that god's will that he be reborn again and again after each death, then he would reject it.]

"I decided. I'm going to live."

[With shaky steps, Oswald got up off of the sand-- abet using the child for balance at the same time. He leaned on the boy and put a hand to his stomach to stop from bleeding any further.]

"Alright kid. I'll go with you."

[Now THAT was more like it! Yuya nodded in agreement, and also secretly breathed a sigh of relief... He's almost certain he wouldn't be able to carry the man all the way to Vandare, let alone Bavan where he lived.]

Th-that's good! Um, I'll make sure you get out of this okay. [He wasn't exactly sure what else to say... Oh right, his name.] Oh, my name's Yuya, by the way...

"Yuya... so that's your name?"

[Oswald muttered, feeling the words pass his lips.]

"I suppose I should tell you my name too. I'm Oswald... Oswald Mandus."

[Oswald... Hm... ]

Nice to meet ya! Your name is kinda funny though, Osu... Ozzwar- er, never mind.

[There's no time for this. Yuya shakes his head and then goes to help up the man.]

"Heh, well your name isn't exactly normal either."

[Yuya certainly wasn't a European name. He could only wonder what nationality this child was. But there wasn't time to worry about that. He could ask about that later.]

"But I appreciate the help regardless."
