Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[ The most irritating part of being lost in the woods is that his animal-like instincts weren't helping him. He could usually find his way through the wilderness thanks to his keen sense of smell, hearing, and his instincts. Though, it seemed that no matter where he turned, he found the same stream. Again, and again.
Was it some sort of ability? Perhaps someone had decided to trick those who entered the woods. Why, though? This was really stupid! It was irritating him, to say the least. The giggles, too - he couldn't sense anyone nearby. He shivers slightly, but he shows more irritation than fear.
If he spots your character, he'll turn towards them without hesitation. ]
[ Thankfully, Leo has excellent nightvision, and his crossing of the stream was not accidental. Once more, his stomach hungered for meat, and hunting was the only option. ( I'm not going to do that, I'm not going to hurt a person, I'm not - ) To water the tough meat of the animal down, being near the stream was necessary.
As Leo was finishing up his meal, Gon provoked a conversation, and his mouth was bloody alongside with his claws, both sets on normal arm and scaled arm. It's not the best first impression, but instead of immediately hunting Gon down like a true predator, he wipes the remainder of the blood off and shrugs.
Since it's a kid who is really scary as fuuuuuuuuuck Leo make better friends, Leo isn't... as rude as he would be to anyone else who would suddenly talk to him. ]
No, I meant to come here. Do you need help getting out of the forest?
[ Gon stops in his tracks, gazing at the -- creature? before him. If this was a new place, perhaps there were new types of animals, too.
Eyes blink once, twice. He didn't sense any sort of dangerous intent from them--and even if he did, he could defend himself, anyways. He was sure of that much.
Curiosity. It was also curiosity that made him answer. ]
Yeah. Then, you know your way around here? Do you live close by?
[ Hey, at least he's not a cat desperate for a kite. You've had enough of that, haven't you?
Shaking his head, a scaled finger points to his eyes, which are lightly illuminating the ground. ]
I can figure it out. I can see clearly through the trees, since I have nightvision. Are your parents waiting for you, or did you run away from the orphanage?
Gon's mouth opens, before he offers a small grin. ]
Really? That's pretty amazing. I can see well in the dark, but it's darker here than what I'm used to. [ Why did he want to know about his parents? Well, whether they were with him or not never mattered, anyways. ] They aren't here. But, for some reason, my Dad sent me here.
[ After he cleared his Dad's game, he ended up here. He wonders why, though. He wanted him here for some reason, right? ]
I wasn't born with it, nor did I train my eyes. It's a part of what the fog personally did to me.
[ Casual smalltalk until Gon mentions it was his father sent him here. His eyes momentarily widen before narrowing, unsure of exactly what the kid meant. ]
[The strange white-haired boy chuckles lightly and shrugs, as if the Forest from Hell doesn't bother him at all. It's a very convincing mask, of course. Combined with the fact that he's suddenly lost his magic and animalspeak (which are just as much 'senses' to him as the five main ones), he can feel the creeping anxiety move closer and closer to the forefront of his mind.]
[But hey, if he smiles about it long enough, maybe it'll stop being so bad.]
There's definitely somethin' fishy going on here, though.
[ He's glad for company, though. It's actually more relieving to have someone here lost with him than to be trapped here on his own. And with another person with him, it helped their chances of finding a way out.
Maybe someone else would be wary of having a stranger approach him, but Gon knows that he can defend himself if they tried to do anything. ]
We could try to find a way out together. You're lost too, right?
Yep. Totally lost. But hey, I know how to take care of myself out in the woods, so it won't be a problem! [Or, that's what he's telling himself, anyway. Plus, a part of him knows that he really doesn't have a line of defense anymore, so sticking with this kid should make it safer.]

Did you end up tricked, too?

Since I've entered this place, something's been...off. I can't find my way back.

[ He has his suspicions, but he wants to know if Killua feels the same way he does. ]

Or we're unconsciously following the sound of that laughter, which is leading us in circles.

[ Then, they wouldn't be distracted. That was good thinking, though. Killua was smart like always. ]

Your father? What's he like?
1/2. SO RUDE

Yes, the fog.
[ A beat to let it sink in for Gon that he's not going to share much. ]
A hunter? As in, someone who hunts animals? Or does it have a different meaning to you?
