Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Gon's mouth opens, before he offers a small grin. ]
Really? That's pretty amazing. I can see well in the dark, but it's darker here than what I'm used to. [ Why did he want to know about his parents? Well, whether they were with him or not never mattered, anyways. ] They aren't here. But, for some reason, my Dad sent me here.
[ After he cleared his Dad's game, he ended up here. He wonders why, though. He wanted him here for some reason, right? ]
I wasn't born with it, nor did I train my eyes. It's a part of what the fog personally did to me.
[ Casual smalltalk until Gon mentions it was his father sent him here. His eyes momentarily widen before narrowing, unsure of exactly what the kid meant. ]
Ah. Well, shit. He was certainly hoping this was an every day, ordinary kid, but..
Walking onward, but waving Gon to follow, Leo begins to lead Gon into the heart of the forest instead of Vandare for a Talk. Gon may notice this by how the trees only get higher and higher, and light begins to diminish moreso, trees blocking out the moonlight. ]
So you're a new arrival.
[ It's said without question. The clothing was a hint in itself, but he had heard of more advanced technology in Bavan with articles of clothing, even accessories. ]
I kind of have to, now. But we should make sure no one's around when we're talking about it.
Locals dislike anything to deal with the fog god. If a hunter, as in someone who hunts animals here, overheard, we'd be in trouble.
[ Brows furrow, and he nods his head. Trusting in what this creature is saying, he knows that it's better to listen to someone who's been here for a while. ]
Because, [ it's a mumble, they've only started to cross into an area where the howl of the wind and the roaring of the stream lightly deafens their words, ] the fog god is going to heavily influence your life from here on out.
[ Fallen, blackened leaves also do well to quiet them. Eventually, Leo cannot spot any lingerings of people and they're currently approaching the heart. That's good enough, given there didn't seem to be anyone around. ]
Of course, the fog god rules over the fog. This fog is magical, but only to new arrivals. When the fog rolls around, old arrivals change more, but you new ones are safe for awhile.
Inevitably, you'll mutate as well. Twice cannot be a coincidence, you see.
Mutate? [ He stiffens at that. ] Is that what happened to you? Is that why you said you were born with it?
[ The woods didn't creep him out, even if it got darker - but the air felt as though it was far more tense than before. It was making him go on guard, as if on instinct rather than thought. ]
There's probably something here that he wants me to find. But, I was supposed to be sent to meet him. [ Scratches his head. He didn't know. If this place was dangerous, then it wouldn't surprise him one bit if this was just something else Ging wanted him to experience. ]
YELLS

LIKE PITOUS INNER SCREAMING
[ Casual smalltalk until Gon mentions it was his father sent him here. His eyes momentarily widen before narrowing, unsure of exactly what the kid meant. ]
Your father? What's he like?
1/2. SO RUDE
[ He straightens at that, wanting to hear more. What exactly did he mean? But, the vision seemed like something that would be rather useful to have. ]

[ He thinks so, too. ]

avoids topic...! ]
Yes, the fog.
[ A beat to let it sink in for Gon that he's not going to share much. ]
A hunter? As in, someone who hunts animals? Or does it have a different meaning to you?
no subject
[ It sounded weird, and kind of curious. ]
No, we get along with animals. Hunters can be anything from people who collect rare things, to others who catch criminals. It's really amazing!

Why do you have to, if I'm a new arrival?

I can't fathom why your father would send you here, though. Perhaps the fog god took you off course or something...
