MISTLETOE MEME

YOU KNOW WHAT THE DANG THING IS
Christmastime is in the air! So much so, that it seems you've come across some mistletoe... and can't seem to pull yourself away. Worse still, someone else is there with you. There's only one way to break the enchantment...
1. Post a top level!
2. Tag out!
3. ???
4. Profit?
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone!

[Is it wise to provoke him like this? AM can easily get away, perhaps, so why wouldn't he want to mess with this all-too-haughty former human? It's so cute how he thinks he can dictate this situation.]
Perhaps you should have thought about that before.
[But it is curious how he doesn't struggle. It is a blatant threat, the lack of a struggle, that AM has to be careful of. Meanwhile, his feet plant themselves and he readies his claws.]

[Asshole. He knows exactly what Mello meant. Maybe he's only touchy because of AM's smug demeanor, or maybe this isn't the first time that someone mistook his appearance for something denoting weakness in any context.]
[No. It's not wise at all.]
You want to fuck around with semantics; I don't have time for this.
[He feels the other steady himself the way he feels minute changes in the air around him. The thing about going up against demons is that Mello is at an innate disadvantage due to his heat intolerance, regardless of his opponent's underlying strength — or lack thereof.]

If Nate should attack, AM will attempt to defend and counterattack. Otherwise, he just stays and waits.]
Words are important, my dear Nate.
Language is a human invention to facilitate interaction. It's only through words that humans can express abstract ideas and evolve.
Perhaps you should be more careful how you use them.

[So he'll go the other route, open up his exit before anything else. AM might feel the tension spike in his temporary captive's body before he lurches forward with no intent to attack. Just aims to plant his mouth on the other's — loath as he is to do it — and get this over with before it evolves into something that is far more than Mello signed up for.]
[No words, then. Humans also express ideas and evolve through action, and it's a lesson that the demon might learn today.]

But in that instant, it's clear that he's not looking to attack. He just wants to leave. Good. AM has succeeded. He lets their mouths meet, and AM grabs even harder, moving a hand up to Mello's hair to weave his fingers in and let their kiss linger.
Actions, indeed, speak louder than words.]
no subject
[The kiss comes with a grimace at the added contact — really, what else did Mello expect — but if it's a struggle AM is after, he won't find one here. No, Mello's already pegged him in that respect. He would thrive on that more than anything, and the vampire simply isn't going to give it to him.]
[Still, he brings a hand up to tug at the other's, nipping hard and sharp for effect. Don't touch his hair; he really doesn't like that.]
no subject
He muffles a laugh against Mello's mouth when the hand grabs at his. Good. He went too far. Even if claws scrape against his skin and he jerks his hand back, it's clear he's amused. Once more his hand attempts to grab at the hair with much more fervor.]
no subject
You're done.
[Seething, and the red that flashes at the edges of his irises says more than words are capable of. The vampire has to admit to himself that this has a chance of not ending in his favor; his strength is half of what it was as a Manticore, and leagues less than any demon possesses. AM can possibly burn him to a crisp, he thinks, and so he'll hold back until it becomes impossible to do anything but.]
no subject
AM bursts into laughter, then, when he's rebuffed.]
If you didn't want that, you should have said so.
[He waves a hand dismissively, finding he's finally able to step back. No longer locked in place.]
no subject
Think I was pretty fucking clear.
[Because he was never one to keep his mouth shut. There's a moment of hesitance — two — and no, Mello was never more bark than bite. He's recklessly gone after people with the ability to kill him with nothing more than his face and a pen. But the release of the mistletoe's hold was his goal, and he's reached it, so.]
Consider yourself lucky that I'm not what I was a few months ago, [he throws behind him as he moves to walk away from the distasteful encounter. As a manticore, heat wouldn't have fazed him, and his haphazard need to dominate everything in his path would have overcome any strength differences.]
no subject
AM laughs again as he turns around, waving him off.]
Oh, I'll keep that in mind.
[Another laugh as he walks off.]
