TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Make up your mind, dude. So is the time traveling before or after the world shit?
[He totally convinced him he was magic. Nice. A hacker who liked to blow shit up and knew how to use an ice cube tray was totally magic, anyway.
He took the offered hand, although his handshake was less of a handshake and more of a brief handgrab.]
Wrench. Just Wrench.

Who's to say we're both in our own times now? This place seems older than the one I was pulled from. Where I come from there are flying transport carriers, trains, cars and ships. Here, I can't see anything of the sort.
[Not from their location anyway. It just seemed older. Ardyn had been around for thousands of years so could detect minor differences like this.]
Nice to meet you, Wrench. That's an interesting mask you wear. Why do you wear it?
no subject
An eyebrow raises under the mask.]
How can you tell? Looks like any other shit beach, just less assholes in bikinis yelling at you for getting in their kids' way. It's... really deserted actually. What the fuck, even.
[He can't think too hard on that one, though. He tilts his head at the question.]
Why do I wear the mask, huh? [Wow, what a question. He looks like he's thinking hard for a while before he answers.] For fun and profit.

It just seems....off to me. Call it intuition if you will but I believe we're on a distant land. Where is the place you call home before you were brought here? Mine is known as Eos.
[The world was called Eos and there were many continents inside that world. Niflheim was the heart of the Empire and that was where Ardyn resided now.]
It's just for aesthetic reasons? For a moment I thought you had to wear it to be able to breathe or speak properly.
no subject
And the mask...]
Oh yeah, that too. Got about a million functions. It's the most necessary part of any San Franciscan's wardrobe, you see. Without it, I'd die.
[Wrench, stop trolling the guy.
...Although he really really didn't like to have it off.]

It's not such a mystical land for me. Daemons inhabit my world as well as people. They prey on those poor, lonely wanderers at night.
[Was there a hint of amusement in his voice? Perhaps.]
For some strange reason I don't believe you. That mask....you say you wear it for profit and aesthetic reasons? Yet, now you tell me you'll die without it. The way your eyes change with each emotion is interesting though. It must be powered by some sort of powerful technology.
no subject
[Maybe he just invented that. Maybe it was an idea he already had.
He held his hands out in a mock-placating gesture.]
You don't have to believe me, man. For all you know, nothing I say is true. Or is that everything I say is true? Maybe it's both. Yeah. I like both.
[Well, at least that part of the mask started temporarily functioning, but who knew how long it'd last? Still, he'll take the compliment.]
Told you I was a wizard with electricity.
no subject
[Was he making that up too? Ardyn wondered if they indeed did have people dressed as Daemons in this strip club. An odd thing to do but no doubt paying customers would get off on it.]
The same could be said about myself. How do you know I have magic and can summon weapons at will from thin air?
[The fact that he know couldn't make him very uncomfortable. The place seemed to have stripped him of his weapons and his magic. Never before had he felt so vulnerable.]
As it happens so am I. Back on my world I helped develop armour and infantry units using Magitek technology.
no subject
[Okay, he's still not convinced this isn't just a weird beach somewhere not far from where he lives, but whatever. He'll humor the guy.]
I never said I believed you, man. And I never said I didn't believe you. Maybe I'm taking everything you say at face value. Maybe I think you're making everything up. Which is the truth? I'll never tell.
[That last part... okay, he's curious, sue him.]
Magitek, huh? Sounds fancy. What's it do? Press a button, cast magic missile?
no subject
I'm actually tempted to go back to your world to savour these....delights.
[Because he would. He actually would.]
It is fancy. Very much so. Magitek was developed years ago by a very clever man. I'm just basing my version of the technology off that to create soldiers and vehicles. Mostly flying transport ships with tough armour and also force field technology. That comes in useful to defend Imperial bases from attacks. As for the soldiers, well, they have fortified armour and enhanced abilities. A good formula, don't you think?
[He won't admit that the Magitek soldiers are actually humans that were subject to experimentation with Daemon DNA. They're more Daemon than human.]
no subject
[He tried to imagine bringing some weird guy home with him, but it didn't work so well. Obviously he wouldn't bring the guy back to meet his friends. He'd probably just leave him in a strip club and forget about him.
On purpose.
Crossing his arms, he looked at him, an eyebrow raising behind the mask.]
Going for straight up war, huh? I guess that's what a lotta people use technology for. Then you gotta wait forever until the cool shit comes down for the rest of us.

[It was all because the Empire wanted that crystal kept hidden away in the palace. Once the Empire gained control of the crystal, the shield would drop over the city, and Niflheim could take Insomnia. Yet, that had indeed happened in Ardyn's timeline. Insomnia had fallen and now he had gained control of the crystal.]
It does come in useful in the right hands. Now, tell me, what is San Francisco like?
no subject
[Look at Wrench, solver of all the world's problems.]
Oh, you know, the hustle and bustle of everyday city life where everything's connected and nicely accessible for deep fuckage if you know what you're doing. Street performers and shady tech companies and shitty bars and douchey health food gurus. Anything you could imagine.
[He wiggled his fingers.]
It's kinda hard to explain if you've never been.
no subject
[He was impressed with Wrench's skill at making a joke or two. Ardyn was actually starting to warm to the strange youth with the mask. He wasn't afraid to say things how they were. A straight talker.]
It sounds a delightful place.
[If anyone could do sarcasm it was Ardyn.]
no subject
[A joke or two or seventeen, more like. He had a lot to say, and not a lot of filter for things he probably shouldn't say.
But who needed that shit anyway?]
Oh, it's just lovely this time of year. The cars are plentiful and the opportunities plentifuller.
