TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Oi, what are you trying to say? That Gin-san is an easy target? Can't fight back? I'll have you know there's 67 volumes published of Gin-san fighting!
_{[ Gintoki eyeballs the tail, and the fangs, not pleased with this development. ]}

Wait, hold on a moment. I don't know if I should help you! You have all the traits of a villain, right? This guy is probably just scared shitless and trying to protect himself from freaks like you.

[Nope, it's not funny and this is kind of a mess. Rhys is trying, though, and considering he's having this conversation with a Moth Monster, he's doing better than expected, mostly. He does give the stranger a better look, folding and unfolding his pamphlets absently, then sighs.]

That sounds a little better, but not much. There's stuff like this in my world, but snacking on humans isn't a requirement, just a preference, for the most part.

[No, he's really not making this better. He's going to just start again, okay.]

Have you been here long? I mean, you seem pretty used to all this. Obviously.

["Okay" is a pretty damn loose term here. He's definitely not going to hold a snappy reply against her, and he gives an awkward smile, looking down at his torn t-shirt and badly scraped arms and hands.]

Half-drowned, but just some scratches. I'm more worried about getting off this beach, getting safe, and getting dry. Something feels really wrong here.

[He frowns deeply, dark blue gaze scanning the treeline and the flickers of lights in the distance. No birds. He should be hearing birds or frogs or something out here and there's nothing.]

I figured the other lost-looking person would be a good place to start.

I think it depends...if my voice was the one in your head, it'd probably be for good reason after all! [Telepathy exists where she's from, so.] I used to use my telepathy for plenty of long distance communications...

[Anyway. Not the point, she's sure.] ...It's definitely all different from what I'm used to at least...I don't know about 'nuts' though...

I guess... [She doesn't know how accurate the 'could haves' are here, but she supposes that waking up in such a strange predicament really could make injury that easy...]

[Gin this is......difficult. You're lucky Karamatsu's hearing is just slightly better than it was now that he's got bigger ears, but it's not like- say- a were's.]

He falls quiet for a second, then curves his hands over his mouth again. ]</sub>

It is a long story! I can assure you that I will not harm you, but I would suggest you come with me to speak instead of shouting your intentions! Not everyone around here is as friendly as I, as you can already see!

[Telepathy. Sure. Why not. They were surrounded by monsters in some place forgotten by time with a hidden arcade basement, so why not have some people who had telepathy? Or at least used to have telepathy.

This kid could just be messing with her. It would be easy to take advantage of how much of a mess this place is.]

Anyway, it's definitely "nuts". You can call it whatever you want, but that works for me.

...Well. If you had to ask me what it is...I'd have to say different.

Nothing I've seen here is like where I came from. ...Even I'm not like where I came from...it's weird to not have fur, and it's really cold...

[Now she just sounds nuts, honestly.] ...So I've been trying to keep an open mind to all of it so far.

Some of it is pretty interesting when you think about it, actually! I've definitely never seen anything like these machines~!

[ a villain?! this is where Kogitsunemaru takes offense, his tail bristling as he matches the nose scrunch of his accuser! he can't help but raise his voice a little with a little hiss in his tone. ]

I am Kogitsunemaru, the blade forged by Sanjo Munechika and I am no villain! Do you think a villain would put themselves at risk like this? I could have just eaten you right here without any problem!

[ and another shot rings out, sending sand to shoot up in front of them both. looks like someone is getting impatient. ]

Will you help me or not?

[At the praise, Osomatsu gives out a soft laugh and rubs the back of his head sheepishly.]

Aha, y'really think so? I dunno if I'd say I looked impressive but---

[...wait a second there. Didn't this man call him something? Sure, he's used to being mistaken for his brothers but now that he thinks about it, he's pretty sure he heard him call him.........]

WHO THE HELL IS D*RAEMON, HUH?!

[That is an insult, good sir. Mistaking the title character of a not-as-popular series for someone more fortunate...]

[Raynie freezes when she finally gets a proper look at him. At the first moment she still can't believe it, staring in stunned silence as if her slightest word or movement will make the apparition disappear, but the look he levels at her seals it.]

- Stocke?!

[She doesn't know how, nor does she care at the moment. It's really him, she should've trusted her instincts and known right away. Who else would acknowledge a long-due reunion with curt, wry remarks and "I'm sorry"?]

What - [Her voice cracks. Then, louder:] What're you apologizing for?

[Raynie moves without thinking. This isn't how she imagined it; sometimes she thought she'd cry (prettily, and never be less eloquent for it), at other times she'd imagine telling a witty joke, but it was always heartwarming and there were definitely no shadows or extra bits involved.

There were hugs, though. And depending on how solid Stocke is, it can into reality or make this situation ten times more awkward.]

[There's a bear in the sitting room with their snout buried in a book. When Yuuko emerges with a brand new pair of wings, she gets up with a incredulous look on her face.]

Wait, what? No, we're not going anywhere. What if you sprout another pair of arms?

Yeah! The Fog God is the one who brought us here! She's also turning everyone into monsters! I hate her! [he says with a booming voice and a smile on his face]

[So, it's true that people are washing ashore. Light has heard the rumors, but rumors aren't always based in fact. Nonetheless, always wanting to be aware of the new arrivals, he chances a visit. Sure enough, there she is, human and all.

The man that approaches her is tall at 5'10, which makes the monstrous features all the easier to see. Four large, sparkling, blue and black wings stand out behind him, wings not covered by his coat. The antennae, small but present, stick out slightly from his forehand, but gloves hides the rest of his changes.]

Are you alright? [He calls out before he gets too close to keep from startling her.]

[After many months here, Light knows what to expect when finding someone new to Ryslig: confusion, anger, and/or disbelief. They're kidnapped, brought to an entirely different world, and left stranded with no answers, making all of these reasonable reactions.

Happiness is new to him. Upon hearing the shout, he pauses in his stride. Had the man died in his world and was thankful to be alive again? That seemed logical enough, though it must have been a hard death to beat even confusion.]

Are you alright? [Nonetheless, despite the obvious joy, he inquires about the man's well-being as he approaches.]

Well I'm not really sure what counts as big, but where I live now doesn't have grounds, so..

[He flutters his wings a bit, looking around quickly in case any scary people show up.]</small If you stay too long you'll get hurt! Probably.
