TEST DRIVE MEME: JANUARY

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched with your mouth full of sand. The salt water causes various cuts and scrapes on your skin to sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean. There are lights in the distance but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not, you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes." Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien. Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines. Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

I guess... [She doesn't know how accurate the 'could haves' are here, but she supposes that waking up in such a strange predicament really could make injury that easy...]

So, you don't know what happened either...

[Assuming they've been dragged up and thrown from the ocean to the shore, there were plenty of opportunities to knock their heads or cut their bodies in the water.]

Hmph... Unfortunately. But we'll find out soon enough. There's got to be someone who knows what's happened. [She begins to shuffle off.]

What's your name, girlie?

[Yes, very unfortunate....but anyway. She tries to keep up with the other, wobbling a bit from the slight shift in her center of gravity. She's used to being a foot tall, not...nearly 5 foot...] Um-

Oh! ...Espurr, miss. What should I call you?

[She glances behind and raises her eyebrow. However, she says nothing, merely taking in how she's walking. She's seen many medical conditions and disabilities from when she worked at the hospital, but this just doesn't seem quite right. Her walk...]

Ms. Tae will suffice. [Tae-san. It's what she expects everyone to call her.]

Ms. Tae. [She repeats the name to commit it to memory, eventually balancing herself out enough to walk a little more properly.] Right. So...I suppose now we just see who else we find then?

[Even as she walks properly, it seems off. She can't figure out what about it is bothering her though, so she stashes the knowledge aside.]

Yes... One thing at a time, Espurr. Hopefully we'll find someone who lives here that can fill us in.

Tell me about yourself though. I need talk to focus. [Either she listens or she ignores it and focuses on the task at hand. Both seems good right now]

Hopefully...

[Oh dear. About herself though? She blinks, and tries to think of where to start.] Oh-

Mmm...well, I'm schooling age...I live in Serene Village, and attend classes under Mr. Farfetch'd and Vice Principal Watchog...as you can probably assume, I'm an 'Espurr', so one day I'll be called 'Meowstic' instead! That won't be for a long time I don't think, though...

[... She was fine with all of this until she reached Espurr and Meowstic.]

What do you mean 'I assume'? I don't know what an Espurr or Meowstic are? Are those titles?

Titles? Of course not, they're...

[Oh dear.] ...Hmm. Perhaps you're from another region, [She decides. After all, the idea that no one here has seen pokemon at all just doesn't sit right. ~~It helps that the topic hasn't come up with anyone else on the beach~~]

Meowstic is the evolution of Espurr. I'd assume I'll evolve to that point one day, but...well, I might not. There are some who just don't.

Midirojima is an island off Japan. We don't get much exchange from the outside world.

[She frowns deeply. Evolution and better humans... she can feel it's not the same because of how Espurr speaks, but she doesn't want to delve into those memories]

Hmph, so never growing up then.

Mmmmh...it's not quite the same.

...I suppose evolution is somewhat like maturing, [she admits, blushing a fair bit while she says so,] But-

But there are plenty of adults who never evolved after all, and they're definitely not children! Evolution is more complicated than that.

Then what is evolution? Your understanding of it and mine sound very different. [This girl... she's very strange. Very insistent, trying to prove herself as intelligent through her explanations in her opinion.]

It's just something that some pokemon do. [Normal, in other words.] Not all pokemon ever do it, actually. But the ones who do, apparently get quite a lot more power and ability out of it, changing their entire form...

Something humans don't. [So that is something that's clearly established now. Funnily enough, she can believe that Espurr isn't a human, though everything else she's saying a lot of rubbish and nonsense to her.]

There's a town ahead. Looks like a city.
