[He's rather relieved that Shootie doesn't push it further, but the getting kissed on the forehead surprises him a little. However, after a stunned moment, the ninja chuckles warmly. That was really cute and very endearing. He has such good friends.] I think that counts enough.
[He does notice the hesitation though and he raises his eyebrow. He puts a hand on Shootie's shoulder.] Is something the matter though?
[He pulls his hand back. Sorry. He just needed your attention.]
Yes, I do that for my own son. [Right, he has one of those here in Ryslig. Though he does note it, especially because a few years ago he himself may have asked the same question.]
Experienced lovers? [The more Tsukikage listens, the more he finds his cheeks tinting pink. He frowns, though, and he remembers.] I do not know, honestly. I've only been kissed once, and it was a brief one, through my mask. [He sighs. It's been a year since then... Christmas in Ryslig too. They were dancing...]
[He feels a little disappointed and he isn't sure why, frowning a bit.]
... you have a son, but you've only been kissed once?
[He's raising a brow and looking Tsukikage up and down, trying to judge whether he seemed the sort to have a kid out of wedlock.
Yes, he's completely side-tracked from the original course of the conversation, because. Tsukikage. What's this? If he were a deadbeat like a lot of dads in his world, he certainly wouldn't be there kissing his kid, so what gives?]
I took in a child in Ryslig who was abandoned, and he insisted on making me his father. I didn't have the heart to tell him not to, and there was no harm in it. So I adopted him and let him be.
[And now he loves Ron like a real dad would a proper son.]
But yes, I've only been kissed once. Ninja are warriors. We... rarely have time to engage with people. And even in Ryslig, I never found someone that I loved.
Oh. [That's a bit grim, but better than expected. He feels bad for assuming worse things... he's not sure why he keeps doing that with Tsukikage. He just looks shady, he supposed. Must be the mask. It's definitely not his personality? He's pretty pleasant.]
That's very kind of you.
I hope you do find someone you like, here, at least.
[That was the point of a mask. It was to create distance. People often couldn't connect with those they couldn't see, even with kind words. It was a barrier in a sense, perfect for a ninja, who needed to be professional. He's not offended at all, if anything he's relieved that he can still create an air of doubt.]
I did have crushes before. Twice. My first kiss was with the first one... but I missed my opportunity to confess to them before they disappeared entirely.
[That's... actually really depressing, Tsukikage. His lips pull back in a wince and then, he comes so close it seems like he might hug him; he frowns thinly, but instead if a hug, he simply stands there, staring at him the entire time, before finally reaching up to very mechanically pat his shoulder.
[He's not the most fun person to be around, honestly.
Tsukikage isn't expecting a hug, but he predicts one when Shootie comes close. He raises an eyebrow when Shootie puts a hand on his shoulder and pats. Ah... This is him showing sympathy? Maybe? That stare is very intense...]
It's alright. I've come to terms with it. I've learned... it's better to take the risk with affairs of the heart, rather than live with regrets.
The intensity is simply because he doesn't know where else to look. He stops when he flusters himself.
He turns partly away, but at that, he adds:] Perhaps that's true. You know, about the mask... it's so no one recognizes you, right? Maybe if you were alone, you could cover her eyes.
Oh! You can make webs, right?
[The thoughtful tone suddenly turned high, the words coming faster, in childish excitement this time. He whipped right around too!]
You could hang upside down, from a web! You know, like Gligarman or something.
[Tsukikage is about a minute from pulling away himself, and somehow he's a little relieved that Shootie broke away first.
He nods briefly. It is to hide his identity (even though it'd probably work better for a human rather than a monster), so what Shootie is suggesting makes sense.]
Indeed... or turn off the lights provided they didn't have dark vision.
[He can indeed make webs but he's rather startled when Shootie begins to brighten up. He raises an eyebrow, confused.]
[At the idea of kissing in the dark, he makes a face.]
... but if neither one of you can see— you won't know where you are! You could end up kissing a nose or, like, an eyelid or something by mistake. It'd be gross.
[(As that implies, he was under the impression he had to keep his eyes open not to miss! He stared a lot. Which was probably reason number one that came off really awkward...)
But that's quickly forgotten, because super heroes.]
A comic book super hero! You know, a masked hero of justice! [He tosses an as aside:] Sort of like you, actually.
There are ways. I can guide them with my hands. Theoretically it's not hard to, when you cup their chin or guide them with your fingers. [Despite how he seems, he's a rather hopeless romantic, honestly. He's thought about this a few times. However, the man passes that over for Shootie's topic of choice.]
A superhero, huh? ... Ah... I doubt that. I'm not nearly as strong as those kind of heroes.
this thread went in a totally different direction, but I love it
O-oh... [He blinked fast, as the realization dawned upon him (and all his feathers decided to fluff up, even before he'd reached up to touch under his chin, at the line just before his skin was covered with feathers).]
You sell yourself short. [This, he says with a degree of disdain, turnnig his head up— but it's hard to take seriously with all the fluffing feathers and look, even the ones dotting his jaw and the ones rimming his hair stand on end to!] I think you're very strong, certainly someone to aspire to.
[He holds strength in high regard and Tsukikage is most certainly strong.]
[He's surprised with the change in Shootie's tone and he raises an eyebrow. It doesn't occur to him that that may be wrong. Tsukikage's used to talking down about himself that it didn't seem unusual. The spider's body doesn't react like Shootie's feathers do. Instead, they're frighteningly stiff, like Tsukikage tends to be.]
A-ah... That's certainly high praises. [More than what he expected, surely.] Thank you... I don't see how... but... Mmm...

[He does notice the hesitation though and he raises his eyebrow. He puts a hand on Shootie's shoulder.] Is something the matter though?

That was the sort of kiss parents are supposed to give, right?
[Don't point out how sad that question in general sounds.]
Hey, Tsukikage-san. How do experienced lovers kiss? Do you know?
There must be something I'm missing, but what...
[Good friend, perhaps, but getting a little (okay, very) ahead of himself, isn't he?]

[he's......... trying to show sympathy]
Eye contact unbroken still.]
(I cant stop snickering OH shootie)

WHAT AN ADORABL CHILD
