TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE MEME | ||
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. |

Don't. Hold still.
[He kneels, hesitating.
'Get over yourself Rin, he needs help'
And finally reaches out to start carefully untangling the mats so he can see where the antlers have burst more clearly]

Instead Rin swats him slightly in the head like a disobedient dog]
Stop that.
[Finally he can see the scalp and hisses slightly. The skin is this weird mix of red with healing and ice cold like death. This is beyond the rip and heal of microtears- something he's very familiar with as an athlete. This is literally impossible. This and the other new bits must ache in the worst ways. Something that made teen growth spurts and post workout agony seem like nothing.]
Alright, scoot forward a little.

It's not that strange, in a way. After all, he's done the same for teammates before, Especially Sousuke (though looking back now he should have SEEN it. And he can't forgive himself for that. But that was the past, and thi sis now) and Ai. And Dipper isn't that much younger then Momo It's just practical knowledge. His grip is just hard enough to break up the knots of healing flesh and jutting bone where the antler breaks through.]
Where else does it hurt?
no subject
My...chest.
[Dipper whispers quietly, his shoulders rising a bit. Everything inside burned, like something was eating him alive from the inside out.]
no subject
[He pauses, unsure how to ask without scaring the kid more]
...growing?

...growing.

Let's see.
CW: Body horror
What Rin will notice is that there are clumps of hair missing in lots of places all along his front, and whatever clothing he was wearing before has been removed, or torn off. Just beneath the hair the beginnings of a set of ribs can be seen almost shining white against the rest of his body, if it weren't for the fact that they were caked around the edges with blood that couldn't quite clot properly as the rest of the skin continued to slowly freeze and decay.]

He's dead. He's alive but he's dead. And Rin, from a world where if there are aspects of the supernatural he certainly has never seen them before recently. His mind tries to curl up from the sight- it simply refuses to see the unseeable.
But he has to, and forces himself to, reaching out to thread through the fur and check the exposed bone.
He can see inside, and nothing beats
'....kid doesn't need to see this, not yet'
His fingers ache from the iciness, and he pulls them back maybe a little too fast. He pauses, then pulls off his team jacket, draping it on Dipper and zipping up the front to hide the not-wound.]
There. It's cold as hell out here.
no subject
He knows that his heart should be hammering in his chest right now. He knows...but it isn't. It stopped a few nights ago, and it hasn't shown any signs of starting again. Yet, Dipper hasn't yet seen the extent how his body has begun to fall apart as it dies. His arms and legs are longer than they used to be, thicker at the bases...yet thinner- bone thin- near his upper arms and shoulders.]
T...thanks...
no subject
[He stands, looking around. They've pretty much lost the light, and Rin's brow furrows. HE'S still lost, after all.]
...you know how to get back?
no subject
He shakes his head a little, his ears falling back.]
Not...not from here. I just....ran....I wasn't looking where I was going.
no subject
[Logically they should stay put. Once full night falls the trees will eat even the moonlight. It'd be like trying to walk in a cave. And Dipper now has untested hooves. All they'd need would be one rolled ankle and a wandering monster and it was over]
Okay, nevermind. I'll get a fire going. Or something.
[BECAUSE HE'S DONE SO MUCH CAMPING IN HIS LIFE YEEEEP]
no subject
[Dipper sounded surprised by Rin even suggesting such. He could very easily just leave, go find the town somehow on his own...it would be safer for him that way if he did.]
no subject
Walking in the dark would be just as dangerous.
[He leans down a bit and gently flicks an antler.]
And deer or not, I think I can take you.
[Or he has plenty of false bravo]
no subject
Y-yeah....probably could.
[...]
Don't really feel like fighting or whatever anyway, if it helps.
[He lets out a weak laugh, the tip of his tail flicking. Even as he says that, an aching pain rolls through his stomach, causing him to seize up for a moment.]
no subject
'Looks like I'm not sleeping tonight.'
Not that he distrusts the kid, but he sure as hell doesn't trust what's happening to him.
(What will happen to HIM too)]
Okay, I'm gonna get wood while I can still see. Don't move.
no subject
[And that was the truth. If nothing else, the jacket he's wearing is giving him some small comfort, like he can...almost pretend these changes aren't happening. If the pain wasn't so prevalent, he could.]
no subject
[He doesn't go far: these woods like to play tricks, something he learned first hand earlier. But he has to get enough to last the night- he's sure as hell not leaving once the fire's going.
Once he returns he gets to it, setting up a circle of stone and building a leaning of sticks. If nothing else he's *read* about how to set up a camp fire. Thankfully he has a old flint lighter he bought pretty soon after showing up here. Practical.
Still, with no real kindling it's taking awhile to get the sparks to really stick]
no subject
He tightens his grip around his legs as he feels the pain well up inside again, his stomach hollow as he stares blankly at the side of Rin's head while he works, eventually having to force his gaze back down to the ground.]
no subject
Oi. Stop looking like I have steaks tied to my head.
[It's... not exactly accusatory, but not exactly joking either. Just a firm statement]
We both know what happens here, no point pretending we don't. I'm depending on you to be stronger then that for tonight, understand? I WILL clock you with one of these logs if I have to. But I don't want to.
no subject
I...I know. I'm sorry.
[He just hopes that he'll be able to hold out, like Rin says. He's made it this long...but the more his body dies, the hungrier he becomes.]
no subject
[He awkwardly rubs his necks, popping it a little and rubbing and rotating his shoulder]
...sorry.
[Oh, that's a fire going thank god]
