TEST DRIVE MEME
TEST DRIVE MEME | ||
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. |

Really lacking.
He's not turning his back to where you are ever, but he's not looking over that way either, and is mostly acting like nothing's going on; you are stalking someone in a scuffed and battered arming doublet with a walking stick carved to a stake/spear-point laid across his lap. At the moment, he's mostly seeming interested in minding that the rabbits don't end up charcoal.
Because if something or someone is planning on ambushing him, not acting like he sees them is the best way to get the element of surprise.

Really, this game of 'don't acknowledge what's in the woods' 'lurk and watch' could go on for hours at this rate. And the smell of that damn meat cooking was starting to make him hungry..
Roy glances behind himself, just enough to ensure that there is something vaguely resembling an escape route if he was about to get his ass chased out of there by an angry huntsman, before deciding to take a chance and speak up.
"Do you mind company?"
Here's hoping it doesn't end in getting a spear thrown at his general direction.

Throwing it as a greeting is reserved for people trying to steal dinner."No." He didn't think he was the only one getting led out and lost by whatever forest-spirit was pulling a prank, and if it turned out Roy was connected to it, well, he had his spear. "Might be safer anyway; no telling what's out here besides whatever fae spirit is having its fun."
Rydia and her knowing how to approach these things would've been nice right about now.

"Fae spirit? Like something from a myth?" he asked casually, stifling the urge to comment on how 'isn't that silly superstition?'.
Instead, his gaze was focused intently on the campfire before him. Why couldn't he get his alchemy to work here? It just didn't make any sense..

"I don't know what lives around here; where I'm from the sylphs would come to the overworld sometimes and do this sort of thing occasionally as a prank. If we're lucky it's something like them that'll get bored with the joke and wander off eventually."
If they were lucky.

"There isn't really anything of that sort back home. At least not so far as I'm aware."
Sure, folk tales were bound to exist, but those were often debunked or otherwise provided Roy with no real sense of why he should believe in them. Whether his attitude was because he was a cynic or a realist remained hard to tell, but the bottom line was that it was there.

"If it's something out hunting, then I'd rather not keep moving and get harried out to exhaustion; if it's a prank, then maybe we'll be less entertaining if we're waiting it out."

"..Have you been here long?"

"A few days. I got tired of staying in town, thought I'd see if there was anything that'd be a clue out here." He wasn't in a huge hurry to go home, but knowing what the Hell had brought them here was something he wanted, particularly if there was anything to the local superstitions. He didn't like the idea of getting away from being a puppet one way to getting tagged as a puppet by a dark god.
