Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

The uniform wasn't anything he'd recognize, but it probably wasn't any more out of place in the area than his arming doublet, still marked up with the scuffs and wear-marks from the armor that should've been there. He raised an eyebrow at the wording.

"I don't know what lives around here; where I'm from the sylphs would come to the overworld sometimes and do this sort of thing occasionally as a prank. If we're lucky it's something like them that'll get bored with the joke and wander off eventually."

If they were lucky.

Welp. That wasn't particularly comforting.

"There isn't really anything of that sort back home. At least not so far as I'm aware."

Sure, folk tales were bound to exist, but those were often debunked or otherwise provided Roy with no real sense of why he should believe in them. Whether his attitude was because he was a cynic or a realist remained hard to tell, but the bottom line was that it was there.

He couldn't say he was surprised; there were a lot of things that were apparently different with the other worlds people were from. He half-shrugged, making a lazy hand gesture at the light fog in the woods and a snatch of laughter off in the trees; there was obviously something out there that wasn't playing by normal rules.

"If it's something out hunting, then I'd rather not keep moving and get harried out to exhaustion; if it's a prank, then maybe we'll be less entertaining if we're waiting it out."

"..I like the way you think." Roy stated finally, before looking up at the man on the other side of the flames.

"..Have you been here long?"

Different worlds, different times, but military tactics only had so much variation for details.

"A few days. I got tired of staying in town, thought I'd see if there was anything that'd be a clue out here." He wasn't in a huge hurry to go home, but knowing what the Hell had brought them here was something he wanted, particularly if there was anything to the local superstitions. He didn't like the idea of getting away from being a puppet one way to getting tagged as a puppet by a dark god.
