TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Skeletor

[personal profile] denebriated 2014-09-30 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Two]

Having his magic stripped from him is one thing, but Skeletor is sure they've somehow stolen his sense of direction as well considering he's never been this lost in his life. The awful childlike giggling isn't helping either- in fact, its provoked him into throwing a rock or two in the general direction of the noise. Except now he can hear footsteps approaching from somewhere to the left and he'll be damned if he lets anyone sneak up on him in this infuriating forest. He steps into a well hidden spot amongst the foliage and waits for the intruder to stumble by.

[Three] KELPIE

There is a horse standing there in the open field. There seems like there is....something wrong with it's face...but you're not sure what. Go ahead and poke it. It dares you.

It didn't matter that there was no way to communicate with the mutant mothership, or that there was no way of ascertaining where any of the mutants were, or if they had survived whatever had happened to separate them. Flogg would still complain, even if there was no one there to listen to him.

"'Walk that way,' they said, 'you might be able to find who you're looking for in there' they said! That's the last time I take advice from ...anyone local especially!" Speaking of taking advice, "I can't remember anything about how I got into this mess, but you know what, it feels like a very specific kind of mess--"

He stopped. Flogg couldn't even pretend that devolving into a rant like that about his - his... his whatever Skeletor was, qualified as a log for his records. Even if Skeletor occasionally gave bad advice, at least he gave advice at all, and Flogg couldn't fault him when He-Man or the Primeans intervened.

Start again.

"Captain's log. Even monologuing angrily isn't helping me feel better. I'm lost in a forest that's gnarlier than BH and twice as thick as Slushhead, and I wanna go home and I wanna rule Primus and I miss it there, and I miss Skeletor." Most of all, in fact. He never got what he wanted, and he'd gotten used to that, after a while failure just became an intrinsic fact of the universe, like nightfall, or Sebrian's sanctimonious beard.

But there was not getting what he wanted, and then there was being trapped in a shit-scary forest all alone with no way to call for help. Flogg sat down against a tree and put his helmet into his hands, and took a few calming breaths. Maybe if he thought really hard, he could figure a way out of this, and get home, without Skeletor's help.

Doomed.

He was doomed.

Scenario One

Well. Weren't they polite. Pulled from the water wasn't anything new; being presented news that she rather not here wasn't new either. But there was something that she hadn't expected. While she still had all of her facilities, her mind and her muscle memory, there was something important missing.

And it didn't take long to figure out.Her mind was completely quiet, and when she tried to go through all of the commands...

How? How could Krusnik be gone? Or was it merely inactive?

She wiggled her fingers, before tightening them into a fist. She would get through thi, because she had no other choice.

With a deep breath, she went out to face the worked, with a big smile and trying not to clutch at her clothes. She looked cold. Vulnerable. It wasn't so hard not to shiver in this place.

"Excuse me!" She turned her big green eyes onto a passerby, offering a sweet smile. "I'm new here, and it looks like the locals are spooked." Anxiety filled her eyes. "Did I do something wrong? All I want is a place to sleep. Maybe something nice to wear. Oh! And something to eat!"

She has needs. Someone give her a hand here.

Scenario Two

This was a bit of a problem. Round and round she went, and no where was the right way. She had tried to make a trail sign a ways back, and she was pretty sure that she had just come across it once again. The giggling didn't bother her as much as it should have. What was the point of being scared? It was taunting sure, but so what? She was more concerned about getting out. So she leaned against the tree, and considered what would be best.

And that was when she noticed another figure going past. For a few moments she considered, before hailing them, offering a small smile and a finger wave.

"Looks like I'm not the only one! And here I thought I'd be all by myself all night." She grinned, rather calm for someone who was hopelessly lost. Then again, she might have expected there to be problems in a place like this.

Scenario Three

((ooc: Feel free to go wild! I'm up for having her become anything or encounter anyone as something...else c:))

He was getting more and more aware of how much he stuck out here; the scuffed, worn arming doublet had nothing in common with anything in the local clothing, and if his clothes looked like they were incomplete somehow, it was because they technically were. it just kind of underlined the absence of his armor to him, which would've been a great comfort to him for being thrown into a foreign world.

The flat undertones of irritation were at the situation; he was having about the same problems as her run of questions. "You exist and you're here, that's my guess what's wrong. I don't think they're used to seeing foreigners." He gave a shrug; his tone'd been flat observation, and he was getting the same kind of suspicious looks and skirting that she was.

None of the others he'd seen that were apparently fished out of the ocean seemed prepared, but she looked less ready to be tossed out surviving on her own than most.

[In hindsight, it probably had been a rather poor decision to immediately go wandering off after being released from the hospital, but the whole situation was just so surreal, impossible, incomprehensible... she hadn't really known what to do with herself. What to think. Where to go. How to exist again.

She instinctively wandered towards the seashore, a place that made her feel home -- or made Kairi feel at home, she supposed -- taking off her sandals and holding them in her hands as she stepped out into the cold water until it reached her ankles. Playing absentmindedly with the straps of her shoes, she stared across the horizon, pursing her lips as her expression etched with worry. Naminé certainly felt a sense of wrongness within her, but not for the same reason as most of the new arrivals; she had been ripped from her other half, merely half an entity after finally becoming whole. She had fulfilled her duty, served her purpose and left clues to the others for what she was unable to do herself, and understood that that was the end of her role as "Naminé". Yet... here she was. Why did this happen? How? What would be the consequences? Naminé didn't know, though she certainly wished she did. She couldn't even access the memories that had usually been within her reach, nor could she feel any sort of presence of her Somebody, let alone summon a dark corridor back to Destiny Islands. She was alone, defenseless, and out of sorts. And to top it all off, every single inch of her utterly ached, the cuts stinging occasionally as the wind blew sprays of salt water against her, dampening her already soiled and stained white dress.

Naminé felt an overwhelming sense of loneliness she hadn't felt in a very long time.]

[If there was one thing that always caught Daichi's attention, it was cute girls. Even with his body aching with scratches and panic slowly starting to set in that he was, once again, stuck in some overwelming world changing event.

He pondered trying to talk her up, fighting his nerves... but as he approached he slowed, frowning. He recognized that look. It was the same look Io would get when she thought no one was looking. When her hopeful facade cracked under grief and fear and stress.

Daichi wasn't Hibiki. He didn't have the natural skill to help others feel better even when first meeting them. But he couldn't just walk away now that he'd seen such familiar pain, even if he was uninvited. But as he strolled over with a hand raised in greeting, he fumbled: oh yeah, he didn't actually think of what to *say*]

[For a change, there's no overpowering hunger gnawing at her stomach. For a change she's not constantly on the (quite literal) hunt for food. She gets to enjoy not being hungry for a change, since everything first started.

For that, she walks along the shoreline aimlessly. The fog is thick, but her eyes have no problem seeing through it, and the cold water feels absolutely wonderful on what passes for her feet.

Still, even she can only pick out the outline of the other girl through the dense fog. Xion's curious though, what could Kairi be doing around here...?

She closes in. Not silently, though. The sand and water at her feet make that kind of hard.

[She might not know it, but there's something watching her from the fog.

Not that he was really trying to stalk her or anything, but Riku was curious about what sounded like new arrivals at the hospital. He wanted to see what they were like, if there were any similarities between their arrival and the new people. A simple observation, watching everyone go in and out, talking with others, confirmed his suspicions: everyone arrived with injuries, and the locals had no clue what they were doing here at all.

Worst than that, he found it even more curious that no one mentioned their fate. How convenient for them.

There was one person that piqued his interest. A young blonde girl white that smelled like wax crayons and light and the sea. Part of that scent made him recognize her out to be Kairi, but he knew that wasn't right. Couldn't be since she was here already.

It meant doing a little bit of investigation. His smaller, fully feline form was excellent for situations like these. His predominantly white coat blended in well with the fog, but his medium size meant sticking to the alleys and keeping to the shadows. Still, Riku never once lost her scent.

The beach makes things a little harder though. There's few buildings to hide behind or a lot of things to cover him. He still creeps forward a bit every few minutes, trying to get closer to Namine so that he can see how she is without her knowing.]

[ It's hard to walk on sand. Barefoot is only a little easier than going in with shoes. Barefoot you still have to deal with the sting of dry, sun-heated sand, risk getting stuck in the damp patches, or chance losing your footing entirely as you wade into the sea. Shoes are just as much of a hassle, slippery and uneven. Kairi doesn't have to deal with shoes or bare human feet anymore. Hot sand doesn't really bother her now. When you have eight spindly legs that end on hooks and claws these things just aren't as bad. If that's a perk, it's one she has a hard time appreciating.

She can't stay inside forever. Even if she knows that she could rely on Riku, if she had to, it wouldn't be fair to him. It wouldn't be fair to her, to resign herself to stay hidden away from people when there's nothing wrong with her. The transformations are a fact she can't hide, but she shouldn't have to. She's no different inside than she was before. She still works hard and takes care of her friends, and she still collects seashells when she has the time. Today she's looking for cerith shells, or similarly shaped pieces.

Sand is still hard to navigate (she loses balance more than once in the looser piles) but not as hard as bending her human half down to pick up anything she finds. When Kairi raises herself up this time, a small conch shell in hand, is when she spots someone else further down the beach. A blonde girl that reminds her of a friend. Instinct is telling her to say hello, but she moves hesitantly. If they see her before she has a chance to speak... ]

[Roxas only visited the docks of the Vandare ocean for fishing purposes. Despite moving their campsite to Bavan, Roxas still favored some of the fish from Vandare's ports and the edge of their ocean. With his wings fully sprouted, he's begun attempting flight over the shallower edges, alighting over the water's surface and catching them with his feet.

But here, when Roxas comes to the beach, the sight of a girl at the water's edge startles him. He's just far enough to see her silhouette standing by the water--but she's standing there in this fog?

Roxas's stomach stirs in him, gurgling air. His eyes fix on her, pupils dilating and waning. His instinct to hunt bites up his stomach, coursing hot in his blood. His wings fold against his back, and hopefully he can crouch walk on his legs and fists away from her without her noticing. Roxas is considerably lighter, what with hollow bones and bigger lungs. He won't make much of a sound...]

Eikichi Mishina (Persona 2) | OTA

[personal profile] deathboss 2014-09-30 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
[SCENARIO ONE]
Most people would be happy to arrive here with their memories intact. In Eikichi's case, he was terrified. He'd never been a fan of hospitals in general, so his stay had been one where the nurses were glad he as leaving (and not just because of where he had come from) once he managed to get himself away from them and take a running start outside. No persona, but this world was all wrong!

Had he messed up somehow?!

[SCENARIO TWO]
He was pretty certain he'd seen that tree more than once. This was more frustrating than running around in Katatsumuri, he half expected the ground to give way and swallow him hole somewhere else.

Tattered clothing and his makeup starting to fade, he was in dire need of returning home. At this point he'd punch a monster, persona or not.

But he hadn't expected the laughter...which caused him to let out a high-squeaked scream.

[SCENARIO THREE - BONUS, FEEL FREE TO PICK A MONSTER FOR HIM]
This place was driving him mad. He'd gone from one nightmare scenario to another, wondering if at one point during his stay here, Nyarlathotep would jump off of a building, point and laugh at him for his failure at restoring his world. He was cranky, he was tired...but most of all, Eikichi felt completely and utterly alone.

There was something else rising in him, that made him afraid. It wasn't the feeling of calling a Persona, far from it, more like terrible pain that boiled in him, causing Eikichi to drop the fruits he'd brought back from the grocery, slip on one of them and hand on the hard pavement floor. The new bruises seemed like nothing compared to whatever was overtaking him.

"What the hell's going on...."

Personae?

Summoned otherworldly aspects. That was bad. He was helpless.

So, perhaps, he could be forgiven for when a humanoid with crazy hair and makeup charged out the door out of the corner of his eye he reacted badly. Mostly by wheeling around and punching him in the nose. Looks like that higher then average Agility and decent Strength stat were a bad combination this time.

Look man, you look similar enough to a demon and he's not in a good state right now okay.

Lager Woods was a place to get away from the humans - she was going to call them humans now as she herself was only one in spirit now. It was silence, it was shrouded in fog... there was an echoing scream and some other fool bumbling his way through the forest. Trapped as well by Tikbalang? Now she understood why he didn't enjoy their presence the first time. Alluring for taste due to instinct, but also annoying being located nearby; a territorial encroachment and a desire to remain hidden...

Twisting slightly at her waist to look back, eight eyes narrowed as she spotted the figure; a young male with unique fashion choices. She had already eaten, but a small scare could teach him the dangers of wandering in this place alone. Always wise... and all that was required was coming down from her web in the tree. Of course, in a moment.

All she had to do was slow down, ignore the creepy laughter, and carefully carve marks on the trees. Which is what she was doing when she heard a blood curdling scream not far away (she almost nicked herself in shock, thanks).

It takes her all of two seconds before she is bolting towards the noise to find out what is happening. She did not expect to find the strangest looking man she has ever seen, but you gotta roll with the punches. But really, was hair that color even possible?

"Are you alright? Did something attack you? Are you hurt?" Koruri's head whipped back and forth to keep an eye for whatever sparked the reaction, Swiss army knife at the ready. She'll knife a monster for you, stranger, it's okay.

Eikichi will suddenly find himself being chased down by a loud woman in a loud outfit. SCENARIO ONE

This wasn't very comforting. Being scratched all over-from the signs of his open suit, with the scars and the piercings-wasn't anything new. If anything, what he needed to know what was going on. And more importantly, what he needed to find out if he was alone. Hence his reason for him coming over to speak to anyone in the first place.

"Excuse me." His voice was soft, clearly not used to raising it for anything. For all he was dressed up in a jumpsuit of motorcycle leathers, torn and skinned in places, his gaze was earnest. "Have you seen my sister? Her name is Jun." He made a vague motion for height, not much smaller then him, then realized something. "She looks like me. But more feminine."

SCENARIO TWO:

Ah?

[Lost again. Where had he been trying to go for-oh yes. The drug store. He'd been hoping to find some car magazines at the store but somehow the town become woods and...how'd that work. Slowly, blinking, he looked around for some sort of sign of 'home' or something of that sort.

No such luck. Instead he was looking around and unable to figure out how to get back when he smacked right into someone. Blinking, he peered down at the person who he was so lucky to smack with his abs.]

...sorry.

Scenario Two, yep <3

[He'd been smacked with many, many things throughout his life, but Shunsui had to admit that those abs were one of the nicest. And the gentleman to whom they belonged seemed pretty darn nice, too!

He was happy he'd bumped into him. On his way back to the city to look again for some better pain medication for the inhabitants of the loft, Shunsui had somehow gotten himself lost in the woods yet again. He hadn't even been attempting to enter them, of course, but as his luck in this place would have it, he'd wound up in the middle of the trees and weird giggling anyway.]

Nothing at all to be sorry about! These woods are a real trick of this place, no matter how long you've been here, it seems.

Kyouraku Shunsui, if you wouldn't mind a walking partner? The woods here can be tough to find your way out of.

[He took the young man's hand and grinned, showing off the fangs that were the only part of his physical transformation to this point. He hoped they wouldn't freak him out too badly!]

[This woman doesn't even need the nervous attention to stick out like a sore thumb. She's got a big, feathery hat, bright paint smudges dotting her skin and clothes, and... a canvas set up in front of her. Right now. Right here. In the middle of town. Thanks, random generous NPC!

A glance at what she's drawing will reveal something that resembles absolutely nothing in sight. Wait, no, it kind of vaguely looks like that bush over there. Except alive, maybe dancing, and definitely much more rainbow colored than the original.]

-2-
[Who's making all that giggling? Do the local kids like to play out here? And what is it that's so funny?! She has to know! It's really bugging her! Clearly it's something absolutely hilarious or else they wouldn't be laughing so much!
...Or so Daria thought at first, which is why she followed that eerie laughter around and got herself lost. She's already lost interest and now she just wants to get home already. What if she misses dinner? That would be a tragedy. Especially if dinner involves e- oh hey is that a person?]

You!

[Apologies to whoever is suddenly being pointed dramatically at.]

[The first thing Koruri is going to have to get used to is just how outlandish people look around here... But before that, she was definitely of the shell shocked variety of new arrivals. She couldn't wrap her mind around any of this. People, a whole town, folk just getting plucked out of the ocean... The fact that she was separated from her friends.

In a dazed state she wandered over towards Daria's makeshift art studio, and just sort of stared at the painting. Where did she manage to find so many bright paints in such a short time? She's probably a tad too close to be considered polite.]

[Y'know after facing a menagerie of horror beasts of all types it's weird that he still has trouble believing it when shit like this happens. Like, okay zombies, werewolves, gods, magic, and killer clowns(?) were apparently all real things but...time travel too? But there's not much to be done trying to deny it. The cars were all funky, the fences were all picketed, he's pretty sure this town was segregated. So he's in the 50's. Just his luck. Time travel is real and he goes back to the era of motherfucking nuclear families, cultural brainwashing, patriotism and the red scare. Great.

He guesses it's nicer than being dead though, and probably nicer than living in a hellscape created by the wrath of Ancient Gods.

Maybe he could even get an old timey lighter and finally learn some zippo tricks like he always said he was going to. Wait were Zippo lighters a thing yet? When were they invented? He should google th- dammit. Well he'd figure that out later. What he should do now is get food, and if he's stuck in the 50's there's only one place he wants to go.
]

Hey, yeah, do you know if there like a, one of those burger places with a juke box and the checkerboard floors and red spiny seats and stuff?

Nah. Haven't even found a fuckin' arcade yet. Just churches and white picket fences and other boring shit.

mantenbou: canon; centralfiction character select (一)

Litchi Faye-Ling | BlazBlue

[personal profile] mantenbou 2014-10-06 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
SCENARIO TWO:

[That... didn't go exactly as planned. In fact, it is a complete opposite of how it was supposed to go: Litchi figured the woods may be hiding some clues to the situation she and other foreign arrivals have found themselves in, considering it's a place full of mysteries. What she failed to take into account was how easy it is to get lost there. It's strange and almost eerie in a way─ she's never once lost her way when researching the lower levels of Kagutsuchi, despite the complicated structure and thick seithr present there. The woman makes her way farther into the forest, her senses on high alert, when she suddenly notices another figure in a distance. For a brief moment, she readies herself to fight, but after some consideration she realizes it's another person. Relieved, she approaches them with a kind smile on her face, hoping they can work out a way back to the town together.]

Excuse me... I seem to have gotten a bit lost. [She tilts her head, her expression turning almost embarrassed.] You wouldn't know which path leads to Vandere, would you?

SCENARIO THREE:

[It's in a scientist's nature to want to get to the bottom of this weird disease, and in a doctor's to want to heal it. As such, Litchi has been doing her best to document any changes people notice in their behavior or appearance. Not everyone is willing to share such personal matters with her─ far from it, she's only found few people eager to cooperate. Even so, she's determined to know more─ not only because she could help herself and her fellow arrivals to this world, but perhaps it would be possible for her to save that person as well...

With that thought in mind, she's currently sitting on a bench in a Vandere's park, taking notes on another person's recent change in her notebook, when suddenly her hand stiffens and she feels burning pain in her forearm. She winces, dropping her pen. Not thinking much of it, she pulls back her sleeve... only to see scales in place of skin.

Perhaps she should approach it with professional composure, but seeing it happen right before her eyes leaves her frozen in shock.]

That's─ no, this can't be...

[Though she starts, it's nice to hear an actual voice instead of the disembodied giggles taunting her from any direction. The woman looks kind, even if her style of clothing is...extremely far from Berk's standards, but it doesn't keep Astrid from having her hands as fists, shoulders ready. Normally, she would be a little more open to the idea of meeting up with another outsider brought in at the hospital, but the forest and thick fog had her more on edge than usual. A pretty smile didn't mean anything.]

No... [And while she wasn't fond of Vandare, her tone does suggest disappointment at that.] As far as I can tell, none of them do. I've circled back to this area four times, now.

Yamato Hotsuin | Devil Survivor 2

[personal profile] aretaic 2014-10-22 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
[2]

[Yamato wasn't the type to wander. Sure, he needed a good understanding of the area. But in a land with monsters roaming wild, going out alone would be idiotic. He could learn just as much from maps and first hand testimony.

So how did he end up in the woods? He himself wasn't sure. And THAT angered him more then being lost did. That meant someone (or something) had affected his mind, and he had no defense for it. Not to mention he had little experience with wilderness survival. He of course was educated in the tactics. But practical experience was less then none.

Anyone else wandering about might find him stomping through the woods, his coat getting caught in things, ignoring the giggles with a tense look on his face]

[3 (Naga)]

[The sounds of terrified arrivals go. Not because he's not scared in a deep animal way. It's not because he's not in pain. But he's been trained from a young age to show no weakness. So once he suspected what was happening he secured a safe place and waited it out. If any shameful cries escaped him, they were too muffled to attract danger.

Afterwards though, his hiding place is too cramped with his new coils. So he slithers out into one of the cleaner sidestreets and sets to work giving himself a check over. He presses his hands into the new muscle, checks his altered hips, cinches up his overcoat so it's no longer dragging in the dirt. He has to learn how to move quickly so he can retreat to where he's staying.

Assuming he was still welcome, a possibility he considered.

This is what one might spot coming down this street, and Yamato looks up, eyeing the intruder with a menacing stare]

He had just about gotten used to not being able to see time or move about in it, or hear thoughts. And he'd suspected for a while that whatever had taken his powers had also taken at least some of his emotionlessness. He thought things had pretty much reached a kind of equilibrium.

Clearly not. He'd been getting... itchy. All dry and scaly and sore in places. He constantly drank water but it never really eased his thirst. And sometimes an odd sensation in his nose accompained breathing. It changed depending on what he was breathing next to and that twigged something in his mind. It was... smell.

He'd never smelt anything before.

This is why he can be found, now, sniffing random objects with the fascinated air of someone in a completely different world....

There was a jolt of pure animal fear when he saw the figure in front of him. The stranger wore a far too familiar gray suit, and the scalp was completely hairless. They found me, was his first thought, his stomach dropping to somewhere around the vicinity of his ankles. If they were willing to chase him through the countless realities it must have taken for them to find him here, the punishment they had in store for him didn't bear thinking about.

He was about to quietly retreat when the Observer turned, and a startled yelp was ripped out of him before he could stop it. His jaw dropped and his eyes went very wide, and he shook his head in frantic denial. "No. No," he said to his younger self. "This is impossible; you shouldn't be here."
