TEST DRIVE MEME

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: The State of the Game Discussion produced a lot of great suggestions and we now have a post for Plot Suggestions and Monster Questions. The NETWORK VOTE results are in and PRIVATE MESSAGING will be added some time in November. Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely. Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[The answer to Koruri's first question is that she didn't. The weird lady is actually using a box of colored pencils some nervous NPC coughed up. Daria hasn't used these weird drawing tools before, but she sure isn't going to let that get in the way of getting her art down on canvas.

Neither is she going to let a little thing like a teenage girl getting sorta close get in her way, either. She continues working on her piece while tuning out her surroundings- up until Koruri says the magic word.]

Yes! It's a rainbow, taking a more earthly form so that it may-...

[After actually turning around to face the girl, Daria pauses. And stares. For a long moment.]

[Koruri hadn't even realized that she had spoken aloud as she watched the colorful mess occur so when the painter turns to face her she suddenly she visibly jumps. It's a good thing, the start made her a little more aware of her surroundings.

Although when Daria stops as suddenly as she started it left Koruri boggling. Um... Give her a second, she's catching up.]

I don't- [understand.] An earthly form?

[Unfortunately for Koruri, Daria appears to be heedless to the girl's confusion. She continues staaaaaaaaring... until she suddenly breaks out into a smile a moment later.]

Nevermind that! You, what's your name? Actually, wait, you don't need to tell me. More importantly, do you like art?

[She gestures at the picture as grandly as she can with a teenager in close proximity.]

[Whaaaat is happening?

Okay, tackle this in steps, Koruri. Even if she has no idea where this conversation is going. She continues to look at the rainbow bush pondering the second question as she answers the first.]

I'm Koruri. [A pause.] I don't think I've ever thought about it that way. I've never seen anyone drawing first hand before.

[Drawing just for fun that is. She's drawn lots of maps for example.]

I like your picture though.

[Nod nod. Daria actually does hold on long enough to allow Koruri to get all her answers out and appears to consider them quite seriously. She also looks pleased at having her work appreciated. Clearly this kid has good taste!]

Then allow me to show you more! [The bush(??) gets set gently aside for a fresh start. She reaches for the color that matches Koruri's hair most closely.] Stay right there, okay?

[A cookie for Daria for being so patient for the slow response. The good taste might just be the result of not knowing anything past a hotel level painting of tulips though. Best to not say that out loud.

A new painting! Kurori honestly has no idea what the subject is going to be (haha) but she is definitely interested to see how one even starts something like this. Do you plan or just go?]

Mmkay... What are you going to draw?

[Yes, that's probably for the best. Daria's art isn't exactly... low quality or anything, but it's very, very eccentric. Someone with more experience would probably give it a funny look.

If the weird artist lady is planning, it sure doesn't look like it. She gets right to work on her mysterious picture of ~something~. It's very... mysterious, at the moment. Still only vague, curly shapes.]

Try to guess while I draw! It'll be more fun that way.
