TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.

Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

Oh no.

[Freya isn't good with kids crying. She awkwardly hugs him, letting him cry on his shoulder. Okay, new topic. Finding out where they are though she'll wait for him to stop crying first.]

There there, it's okay. Well, it'll be okay. You're friend isn't here but you are and I bet they'll be happy to know that you're safe.

[And not dead.]

[ The thought of Asou being dead hurts a lot more than anyone else being so, even himself. And he hasn't thought about it properly until now. ]

Y-you think...?

[Freya nods with a confident smile.]

Yup. That's the amazing part about those close to us. They care for us so much, that even when they aren't around they want you to stay safe.

[There is no way she can leave this kid alone.]

[ He has to ask, as they're talking about Asou and people who care about you. ]

D-do priests go to h-heaven even if they m-murder people...?

[That's a complicated question for Freya which is probably why she puts a lot of thought into it before answering.]

It depends. [She isn't going to lie to the kid.]

Tell me about him. Why did he kill people?

I don't know. It was complicated so I didn't get it.

[ He had asked Ron to steal and pick locks open too, but that was okay because he prayed for forgiveness to god and he didn't want to let Ron starve. ]

[Oh this makes it complicated.]

Well... sometimes people do bad things for good reasons. Those peoples still go to heaven. [Not that Freya really believes in heaven but that isn't the point right now.]

No matter what you did. When you go to heaven they read what's in your heart. [She lightly taps where his heart is in his chest.]

So I think he'll be fine. More so if he has such a nice boy worrying about him.

You think I can still go to heaven too?

[ He has murdered before, and he hasn't felt bad about it. And he's been brought up at a catholic orphanage, so he's been taught to believe in heaven. ]

Yeah and since we're here we have time.

[She flashes him a smile. Apparently she isn't as awkward with kids as she thought. Go her.]

We just have to be good. Do you know how to be a good boy?

[ Well, he isn't crying anymore. ]

Good boy? Um... Pray every night before bed? But I'm a bad boy because I still suck my thumb even though I'm supposed to be big now.

[Freya laughs.]

It's okay to suck your thumb but you can't do that forever. A good boy says please and thank you. He asks for things nicely. Right?

[She slowly stands and then tries to discreetly inspect her shirt for snot or other gross things. She then holds out her hand to the boy so that they might be able to find out where they are.]

But the nuns say it's not okay.

[ He stares up at her with wide eyes. Are the nuns wrong? ]

Oh... I'll ask a doctor later because I really don't know.

[Wolves don't suck their thumbs so she has no idea...]

And I'll get back to you. How's that sound?

Oh. Okay.

[ He'll forget about it, buuut. ]

Um... Do good boys talk to strangers?

I guess not...

[Well crap, she's a stranger.]

My name is Freya. What's yours?

[So they won't be strangers.]

My name's Ron. I'm five.

[ She didn't ask, Ron. ]

Are you a stranger?

Not anymore.

[She smiles.]

I'd like to think we're friends now. Don't you think?

I have a friend?

[ He's never had friends before. ]

I have a friend!

[Friends are a new thing for Freya too but she can't leave a young boy by himself. It just isn't in her.]

Yup! You ready to find out where on earth we are?

Okay.

[ He nods enthusiastically. It's probably good to know where they are. Is this death? It doesn't look like the heaven or hell he's been described. ]

I don't know who to ask.

[She takes the boy's hand and leads them out towards this strange city. The first thing she does is talk to someone handing out fliers but this didn't really help. They just shove a pamphlet into her hand and try to push her on her way.

Freya looks down at the paper and turns it over.]

What to do when you feel like eating people? [She reads the title out loud.]

This... doesn't really make sense. [In any part of the world.]

[ Ron stands on his tiptoes to read along with her. And blinks. ]

People eat people?

[ He does not yet quite know the word cannibalism. ]

Let's hope not.

[Freya does know people who do that but she considers them monsters, hunting humans like it's so sick sport.]

It looks like this place is called Ryslig.

[She's flipping through another pamphlet.]

That's not in Japan... I think...

[ It's a bit wobbly to tiptoe for so long, so he grips her clothes to steady himself and look at it. He's not a quick reader, especially not with only being able to read some words here and there, and not the long ones. ]

[Freya knows a lot about maps, it happens when you live off of one because you can't afford to use map quest on a cell phone.]

I don't think a place like that exists... they were talking about the continent, not the town...

[Which has her very worried.]

If I could see the stars I might be able to recognize something... [She doesn't know any of the stars names but she knows rough placements and the super obvious ones like orion's belt. Her older brother had taught her when she was little.]
