TEST DRIVE : MAY 2016 EDITIOIN

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The Reserve date is MAY 20ST 12:01AM EST.
- There is an Enable Me / App this Plz to see what some people are offering or would love to play.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, and already SOME the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there's the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky. Torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR: The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
Sam | Until Dawn
[Talk about weird. Sam keeps thanking the locals who continuously come up to her and offer the pamphlets, but so few of them are staying to answer her questions. Yeah, Bunnyipyips were great and all, she guesses, but do they know where she can catch a ferry? Or call one? Or just anything beyond weird, really not-helpful reading material?]
Thanks, but I-- [Before she can finish, they've already moved on. Sighing, she turns the booklet over.] --'m not going be a Fur Bearing Trout.
[Waving her new collection slightly, she allows the pages to hit her leg idly as she paces.
Okay, she has to get it together, focus. Sam's done some traveling, if someone would just tell her where she was or give her a map, she could figure out how to get home.]
Where's the nearest door out of the Twilight Zone?
Two
[This would almost be embarrassing if it wasn't so horrifying. Getting lost isn't new for her, but it's rare, especially as she spends a lot of her time outdoors. Nonetheless, she somehow manages to go deeper and deeper into the woods until she really is completely lost.]
Hello?! [Help. If you couldn't get yourself out, make yourself easier to find. She could look sheepish and embarrassed later, but she has to be found first, and it's gotten dark on her. Soon, movement will need to stop, and Sam's reluctant to spend the night out here.]
Hello?! Hey! Is anybody there?
[Her yelling stops as she sees a figure in the distance, one she keeps in her vision as she navigates her way to them.] Thank God. Please don't tell me you're lost too, because ... Hey?
Three - Nymph
[They all knew it was coming, a time when they went from human to a monster. Sam had done her best to prepare for it, but the night before had brought no small amount of apprehension. To her surprise, when she opened her eyes the morning of the fog, her changes had already started.
The leafs around her body had been her first clue, the same crinkling sound as she rolled off her bed and onto the floor hinting that there were quite a few, though it was too dark for her to see. With a light and mirror, she was able to see the flowers that were now her hair.
Flowers. That. Were. Now. Her. Hair.
Had she known more about flowers, maybe she would recognize the Peruvian lily, but she doesn't. All she knows is that blonde hair was now orange and yellow and full of blossoms.
When she leaves her apartment that morning, her ears are already hurting, the tops curving inward. A flower elf. Somehow, Sam is turning into a flower elf.]
Wildcard
[Anything goes here. Meetings, monster attacks, feel free to throw me a prompt!]

Which is why Subaki is now wandering the streets looking for other new monsters. He's armed, of course, but he's also carrying medicines he got from the Dala clinic before the fog. They're in a bag hooked to his belt. He keeps the staff in one hand, leaning on it lightly like a walking stick.]
Do you need some help? The locals seem to be quite on guard lately.
no subject
Unless you're a gardener, there's probably not much hope for me. [It could be worse. Knowing that helps, and it makes her feel a bit guilty. For some, it is worse. Not that she's happy walking around with a bush for hair.]
But how bad is it? I've gotten some weird looks, but nothing dangerous yet... not unless you count a little girl wanting a flower. They don't detach.
no subject
I do know something of flowers. [If only for Sakura's sake.] However, I was thinking more of painkillers or bandages. I brought supplies from the clinic.

[Her ears do hurt, and it's caused a throbbing pain to run into her head. It's not bearable, but it's definitely not good.] I somehow got out blood-less, but my head is killing me.

[He pulls out a bottle that seems to be some kind of aspirin, judging by the label.] Would this work?

3 (ALSO WOW GOOD TIMING, I'm temp-changing Ash into a wendigo this month)
But when she spots Sam, she can't help but smile a little. Maybe it's Chris's humor rubbing off on her, or maybe it's the fact that she never really saw nymphs as a really bad monster option, but... she can't help but throw a joke out there.]
Wow, uh... figures they'd make the vegan a plant, huh?
That's what they all need, more Wendigos xD It sounds beautiful
On the other hand, Ashely now sees Sam with a bush on her head.]
Har-har. Like I wasn't called tree-hugger enough. [It really does suck, but Sam bottled up and soldiered on, and she had seen so many people who had it worse. So many were bleeding from gaining new parts, some were screaming in pain.
Removing her bag, she sits it in the corner.] Are elves a thing? [Moving back a flower, Sam shows her now pointed ears.] I think I'm turning into an elf.
no subject
[L-Look, nobody said Ashley's sense of humor, especially in tense situations, was very good.]
Elves? Uh, well. I think fairies and goblins would be the closes things we have to elves here. You're turning into a nymph. [Okay Ash time to not completely spew out your nerd talk...] Like the flower ladies in greek stories? Except I guess here they're kind of Grimm-ified.
no subject
Sitting heavily on the couch, she sighs in satisfaction. It had been a long, headache-filled day.]
Nymph? Didn't they used to be really playful or something? [No, she needs Ash to be nerdy. Sam doesn't know.] I guess it's better than being a goblin. The bush wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so heavy. And, you know, on my head.

[She taps her shadowy chest with a claw, for emphasis.]
Bushes seem like nothing compared to spikes. Imagine trying to find clothes that won't shred to bits when you've got spikes all over your shoulders and back.

3- Take a guess. At least ryslig wendigos are 900% fluffier
Hannah would have been fine hiding away, but the Fog was coming and Hannah knew she had to go, lest she hurt anyone. So the day the fog had started to roll in, she left, hoping she could see the people who nursed her back to health again as friends, and not future meals.
The changes on Hannah had been unkind, but not entirely so. Her ears were stretching and becoming pointed but with only minimal discomfort. Her nails were bleeding, small growths having started under them to start ripping the nails out of their beds, but while it stung, the process wasn't that painful. What was painful was having her arms and legs stretch out, making her skin go pale and white. Her arms and legs were thin and boney, and Hannah wasn't oblivious to what she was changing to.
She was becoming that thing she saw with Beth, the night when they fell.
Hannah was out looking for a place to stay that morning, rubbing her arms, tracing her fingers on her tattoo when she caught sight of someone in the corner of her eye. She looks up and then she freezes like a deer in the headlights. Sure, the flowers are odd but there was no mistaking her.]
Sam? Sam? Is that you?
Oh gosh. You people and your Wendigos
Until Sam and the others had found evidence of what had happened to them. Beth was dead, Hannah was...something else. That was knowledge she would have to live with forever. Combined with Josh's fate, it was a heavy burden to bear.
The flowers are super odd.
Sam's not unknown in Ryslig, she's managed to make a few friends so hearing her name being called shouldn't have made her pause as it does. It's been more than a year, but Sam hasn't forgotten the voice of her best friend, but it's not a voice she should ever be able to hear again.
Turning slightly, her eyes catch Hannah and the momentary paralysis breaks. Instinct tells her to run, to throw her arms around her best friend and hug her as tightly as she possibly can. Reason tells her to be careful. While there are still parts of Hannah there, Sam very much also recognizes a Wendigo.]
Oh my god... [This really might be her, this really might be Hannah. That night isn't so easy to forget, but she knows Ryslig monsters aren't so mindless without hunger.] Hannah? Yeah, it's me. [She can't help the smile that claims her face.] It's Sam.
...It's really you, right?
no subject
I missed you so much. Oh my god... Oh my god... I thought I would never see you again!
no subject
Hannah. Oh god, it was really Hannah. Sam has to be careful how hard she returns the hug in fear of hurting her best friend. While the limbs may be longer, that only makes them thinner.]
I can't believe it's really you. [Sappy? Sure. True? Very.] I've missed you so much, I never really thought... [Sam didn't think they would ever meet again.] I'm so glad to see you, Hannah. You have no idea.

I like the hair. It's pretty. [Even if it is part of her monster form, anyway.]

Which is why a snake is currently passing by without giving Sam so much as a look, merely focusing on updating his clipboard of records on the devices while answering.] Not a single clue-if you manage to find one, do everyone a favor and let them know as anonymously as you can so that we can actually make use of it though...
no subject
Why anonymously? I don't really care about being a hero, but it doesn't seem like the kind of thing I would hide. If I found one, there'd be a big sign saying 'out, follow me'.

3 - I am so vacay-late but I could not miss this
I've heard you are what you eat, but this is a whole new level I never thought I'd see.
[This is what you get for being a vegan, Sam. This is exactly what you get. ]
No worries, I've been super slow anyway! Yay for Chris!
Haha, Chris, so funny. [She's neither bothered or outwardly amused. Chris is being himself, after all.] Does that mean you were big on eating horses? [Not all of them could be comedians.]
so happy to see Sam!
[He'll give an extravagant bow. ]
And you know, I would absolutely eat a horse. ...Or rather I would before I became a mutant My Little Pony, but still. Point stands.
I was excited to see an Until Dawn cast here at Ryslig!
Ew, gross. [Vegan here.] I know somebody who probably didn't get invited to a lot of birthday parties.
it's such a fun setting for them too!
It is! I love what Ashley-mun is doing this month!
ahah yes it's so great
