TEST DRIVE: NOVMEMEBER (get it because it's a meme)

- You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
- We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
- Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
- The reserve date is 11/27.
- Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
- Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.
Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.
Ashley | Until Dawn
[By now, most of the shock should have worn off for most of the other newbies. Most have started reading the pamphlets given out by the other residents, and some have even left the hospital already. Things are getting quiet, so that means it should be relatively calm, right?
Wrong.
When the shock finally wore off, Ashley had barely been able to get out of her bed before she stumbled and fell to the floor. She looks like hell, even considering the traumatic arrival; the left side of her splattered and stained in dried blood, and one eye bruised so badly it's swollen shut.
She's huddled up on the floor next to her bed, rocking back and forth and pink-and-purple striped beanie pulled as low as it can go so she can cover her ears.]
This is fucked up. This is so fucked up... it's a dream... it has to be a dream...
Scenario 4: Shade
[Okay, Ashley will admit to one good thing about this fucked-up shadow monster thing she got stuck as: it makes hiding from the hunters pretty easy.
Running from them was a problem. She isn't really the most elegant girl, and she wasn't the best in
climbinggym class, so she makes quite a racket as she tears her way through the forest, away from a pack of humans with torches and weapons and other things Ashley is sure are made to hurt things like her.Lucky for her, her blind panic led her in such a twisting path that she lost her tail, though the shouts of the humans weren't far off. This was where the easy part came in; all she had to do was tuck herself into the shadow of the biggest tree she could find, close her milky-white eyes, and bam - instant camouflage!
... That doesn't mean she can't be heard, though. As hard as she tries to press her hands against her mouth, her ragged breaths and terrified whimpers are sort of giving her hiding spot away, especially to any nearby monsters with good hearing...]

Chris normally takes himself into the woods as it gets close to sundown. He doesn't want to hurt anyone, and his logic is that when his change comes, he'll be away from people and his wolfy self can chase deer and whatever to his heart's content.
He catches Ashley's panicked running about and even more panicked breaths easily. The scent that is lodged in his brain as Ashley, creepy as that feels sometimes, wafts to him and he races off in that direction. She's in trouble, and like hell if he'll let anything happen to her. Not on the mountain, not here, not anywhere.
He can't see her when he eventually finds her, but he can guess her vicinity from the noise and smell. He can also hear the hunters closing in. He'll drop his voice low, so she can hear it but hopefully they cant. Gentle, calming, ]
Ash. It's me. Can you run any more?
no subject
But then Chris calls out to her.
His voice doesn't make it all go away. But the ringing in her ears dims a bit, and she's able to get a grip on her breathing somewhat. She's still to panicked to solidify her appearance, though, so when she opens her eyes, Chris will only see those two glowing white points and a hazy shadow in the shape of his dear friend.]
C-Chris...?
no subject
Hey. [Gently, calmly. ] Listen, can you run? If you can stick to the shadows and move fast, I might be able to distract them so you can get away. We can get you outta here.
[He doesn't have to ask who is following her, what's going on. He can hear them, and they're gaining. ]
no subject
[Okay, that gets her to focus a bit. Not to the point where she can completely form a physical body, but she's looking a bit less shadowy now.]
You can't do that! They're not just after me, y'know. They're after any monster they can find. They'll just go after you instead!

Hey, hey.. it's all right. [Well, no, its not, but you know] You're not alone. What's your name?

S-Stay back....!
no subject
It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you, I promise.
no subject
Don't. You can't say that...! Didn't you hear the others? We're gunna turn into monsters and god that is so fucked up we can't do anything about it...!

You'll be safer up here. Let me help.
[Tanyuu speaks just loud enough to be heard; she can hear the hunters out in the distance, crashing through bushes and trampling what little growth there is in the cold months. She doesn't want to draw their attention any more than Ashley does.]
no subject
Oh god, oh god oh god...
[She knows by now that not all the monsters in this fucked-up place are bad, but. She's still fairly new here, so it's hard fighting back that fear that spikes through her.]
How will hiding in a tree work? If they find us, we're fucked!
no subject
[She offers a small smile, and the tree shivers a little as if in agreement.]
Besides, they won't be thinking to look up.
no subject
But they... those people hunt monsters, don't they? They can't be that stupid to just... not look up.
1!
Still, she'd needed help her first day, and she can't help but help others in return. It's her turn to play welcoming committee, so she'll approach tentatively, try to look as solid as possible, and pray she doesn't terrify the other girl.]
Yeah. Yeah, it is. I mean, it's fucked up. I wish I could tell you it was a dream too.
no subject
... Besides. Ashley has seen real monsters. A talking shadow? That's like a damn Disney movie-level monster compared to what she's seen.]
It's gotta be. I'm just... I'm going crazy. All that shit is finally catching up to me. [She lets out a shaky breath that probably should've been a laugh.] Or maybe the cops finally brought us to the hospital, and this is just some fucked up hallucination...
no subject
She reaches out a grey hand to the other girl, hoping that she'll at least manage to stay solid.]
Dude, I promise, it's not like that. This place... It's not great, but you're not locked up in a mental hospital. You're not going crazy. This is totally real.
no subject
[Neither is the idea of cannibal monsters living in the mountains owned by her ex-friend's family, but hey....]

Cautiously, she steps forward, leaning downwards enough and hopefully doing good at not looking like the monster she is.]
Hey, you don't look so good. Do you need some help? One of the doctors, maybe?
no subject
No no no. Just. Please stay back, I don't need anything...
[It's a lie. Such a lie. But she just... doesn't give a shit right now.]
no subject
[Xion doesn't move from her spot, letting the other girl back away as she wants. It wont do her any good to try and force her into accepting help anyway, after all. She might end up scaring her more.]
I've been in this place for a long time, I can probably answer some questions that you might have, you know?
no subject
[Aside from a few bumps and bruises and a slightly singed smell due to being so close to the exploding lodge, she really is. If Xion's nose is sensitive enough to tell the difference, she'll see that not even the blood caking her left side is hers, or anyone's; it's pig blood.]
I just... I need to find a way out of here. I need to go home.
[She almost whimpers that last word. Just... everything that happened last night, everything about waking up here... she just wants to escape it all. She wants to lock herself in her room, bury herself under every blanket and pillow she has, and just. Hide for a very long time.]

I don't think it's a dream. My dreams have unicorns in them.

And she was so fucking worried about Jess, when Mike told them all what had happened to her. When their rescue team found her and Matt trying to make their way back to the lodge. She was worried enough to at least make an attempt to calm herself, to take a deep, shaky breath and slowly let it out.]
But it can't be a nightmare, either. All that fucked up shit last night... that was the nightmare.
no subject
Maybe not.
[She pulls her knees up to her chest, pressing her good cheek into them.]
Maybe this is just the way things are now.
no subject
[She shakes her head, and her shoulders slump.]
That's how it always is in movies and stories and shit...
