TEST DRIVE

Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

• You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
• We now have a Quick Game Facts that simplifies the basic information about the game. Good if you want to see what the game is at a glance!
• Ryslig's FAQ is located here, so please take a look if you have questions.
• The reserve date is 11/27.
• Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
• Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 6 coins by replying to potential character threads! You cannot use this to go over the bonus 20 coins per month total, but you can use it to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:

SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous people who had them saying they are lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. Or maybe they want you for lunch...

SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

SCENARIO FOUR:The claws, the fangs, the pangs of hunger - horrible as they all are, it's manageable given enough time and perseverance. Local monster hunters, though, not so much.

Maybe it started with a few wayward glances on the outskirts of town, critical stares and disapproving whispers, or just the misfortune of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever it was, deserved or entirely unprovoked, you're being hunted: a handful of aggressive, well-armed humans doggedly chase your trail throughout city streets and out into the open, and if you're not careful (if you don't find help soon) you might wind up as the next trophy kill claim on one of those hunter's walls.

[Shit shit shit. She has a point. If they just... if they left her there, and they kept Josh alive that first time they took him, what if...]

Oh god... [The words come out as a whimper, and Ashley starts rocking back and forth again.] Oh god, the rangers all left, they... it would've been hours until they could start searching, and even if all those fuckers died in the lodge...

[Josh would be all alone in those mines. For hours. God, what would happen to him because of his own head down there...?]

[She doesn't do anything to calm Ashley's reactions. She just curls into a ball of her own, as though she might make herself small enough to vanish entirely.]

We deserve this. Probably.

[The few parts of Ashley's brain that are still somewhat reasonable do feel a bit guilty for how she's freaking out, and leaving Jess to her own thoughts. But... god. The iron grip of fear is just not letting her go.

It does, however, give way to a sort of numbness at Jess's words...]

... We kinda do, don't we.

[She'll definitely argue that Chris didn't deserve anything that Josh put him through, and neither did Sam. But... they were part of the problem.]

Guess karma just decided to bite us in the ass in the worst way.

They said they were going to rescue us. But now we're here instead.

[despair weighs down on her tone. All she'd wanted to do was get involved in some subtle cabin sex. Something fun between two people who liked to have fun. It was never supposed to be this.]

We're never going home.

[Ashley wants to scream. She wants to scream and throw things and just. Let it all out. But she can't. She's so fucking tired of everything. She's completely drained in nearly every sort of way, and now, there's really only one thing left that she has any sort of energy to do.]

I'm... I'm sorry....

[She's not sure why she's apologizing to Jess. But it's the only thing she can say before the dam slowly starts cracking, and she lets out a choked sob, leaning towards Jess.]

[If this was before, Jess might have returned the lean. They might've even hugged it out together, and then fell into joking about the entire affair. Ashley would find a way to make it silly. Jessica would remark about the state of her hair. It would be like old times.

But now, she's too skittish. Her skin is still crawling and violated, aware of hands and fingers and claws and

She watches Ashley cry, but doesn't make a move to console her.]

Don't be. You didn't do it.

[Even if Jess doesn't do anything in return, Ashley still appreciates her at least not telling her to shut up as she cries. SHe didn't get it nearly as bad as Jess, but she was knocked unconscious twice (and one with a punch), nearly cut in half twice, and shoved into a wall while running for her life.

Having someone just... letting her do this without telling her to shut up or telling her that they need to get moving helps.]

Maybe if I'd been less fucking stupid... maybe if I'd stood up to you and Em during that stupid prank, like Sam did... maybe something that night could have gone differently...
