TEST DRIVE, MARCH ROUND

TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • The reserve date has been announced.
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.

SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.

SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Urrrgh, I mean come on, we nailed it!

[Now the frustration of losing his foothold is really starting to sink in. What kind of person squashes the opposition and then leaves people to anarchy?

No this handsome bastard, that's for sure.]

A few more weeks and I would've painted that whole damn planet Hyperion yellow.

[Which hints that he disagrees on the whole "money can't buy anything" point, of course.]

[Doesn't take a genius to put that particular puzzle together. Maybe because she's still got the memory of a certain someone getting a custom suit made out of money just after his own self-granted promotion. Actual money.

Still, his howling frustration sparks the quick quirk of a brow. Nothing verbal, nothing noticeable, but something in there doesn't click.
] Was thinking more like blood red. Maybe a little ash.

[Scorch the planet, kill the bad guys, that's what he'd said; Hyperion color palettes seem slightly off the mark.]

Along the way, yeah. But you gotta have an endgame, Nisha. And some color variety, y'know?

[Don't knock the money suit.

Jack rubs at his wrists in thought, regardless of Nisha's complaining. After all, at the end of the day, the goal was the same: to bring some fricken order to Pandora, and to ditch the lowlife bandit hordes.

The verdict on Ryslig Peninsula is still out.]

Anyway, looks like none of it matters until we clean up here.

[personal profile] frenzoned 2015-03-05 09:48 am (UTC)(link)
Mm. [Noncommittal. Indifferent. No direct disagreement, but her attention flicks away again, shoulders shifting as her posture changes (more weight to her right hand than the left) eyes following the steady trail of another milling pedestrian. Predatory focus, though it's all instinct versus any real interest or intent to hunt.

Fact of the matter is, he's knocking a point they currently don't see eye-to-eye on, and without any point to an argument Nisha's falling back on disinterest instead.
] Clean up what you want, cowboy. I'll be the girl that tearing this place up from the inside out - top of the food chain down.

Place needs order as much as Pandora ever did.

pandornah: (get hitched)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-05 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
Ah ah, no no no...focus.

[Jack leans in and reaches up to tap her cheek a few times with an open palm to get her attention. Not to say he disagreed about the point of order, especially in a place that was clearly being ruled by literal monsters.

But those monsters were about to be them.]

You're thinkin' too small, babe. Very short term.

[He yanks out a few pamphlets from his pocket an waves them at her, seemingly going off on a tangent. Which really just means he's about to make his point.]

Did they shove these on you too?

[personal profile] frenzoned 2015-03-05 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
[His tapping works well enough: her focus snaps back towards him as the line of her lips thins out, taut and sharp-edged enough to get the point across. Mostly the one about how it's tolerance, not passiveness, that gets him off the hook for pushing it.]

Couple of people did, yeah. [They'd been proud of themselves for it, too. Treated it like a favor or charity or-- something, none of which went over well with someone so used to living her life via counted bullets and the number of zeros attached to her wanted posters. Free paper is not a favor.] Didn't read 'em.

pandornah: (cross walks and crossed hearts)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-05 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't matter, bigger picture.

[He slaps the pamphlets and offers them to her with a smooth grin.]

Point is, they're trying to buy our favor. Just take that in for a second.

[He gestures to the people milling around, and his grin widens to teeth. Yes, Nisha was the Lawbringer, but she could be a Lawbringer with a crowd who would respect her law in exchange for making everyone else behave.]

You followin' me?

[personal profile] frenzoned 2015-03-05 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Slight pause, contemplative stare - Nisha sits for a beat or two before pulling the paperwork from his fingertips. It's not hard to make the leap from point A to point B, it's just a matter of mulling over the entirety of it. Making it more than just a matter of hunting and killing and bleeding for the rush.

And sure, she's not without a purpose here, but he's right: reworking it to her own monetary, materialistic gains just has the kind of ring to it that fits her perfectly.
] I'm not sharing the payload.

[Which, spoiler alert: is a lie. ]

pandornah: (your time is running out)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-05 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahaha...yes you are.

[He reaches up to tip her hat upwards playfully, but that will be as far as his affectionate gestures go in public until he is more comfortable.

That said, Handsome Jack has his own plans for rallying the masses and getting them to worship the ground he walks on.]

I'm glad we're on the same page, pumpkin.

[personal profile] frenzoned 2015-03-05 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eyes shut as he tips her hat, involuntary smirk fixed, Nisha lets him have his fun just before she shifts upright to return the favor, away from the table to close off that space between them. Voice low, hand immediately at his hip-- or more accurately the edge of what's behind it, fingers digging in for the sake of ruffling his feathers.

Which turns into an affectionate pat as she goes to meander off, following in the general footsteps of her earlier mark.
] You and me both, beautiful.
