Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

He forces himself to let go of Roxas and stand back, to fight his awakened human instincts to demonstrate his feelings concretely, to turn his head aside and scrub at his face and force an awkward laugh. ]

[ He's losing it in front of Roxas, this is terrible. Roxas doesn't need this right now, he needs answers and - and apologies, and a plan, and a bunch of stuff Lea doesn't have ready. Lea can't even show him his Keyblade, explain that he's ready to make a bunch of things right, and this thought breaks his heart a little bit. ]

[ Okay. There. He's shut off the waterworks. For now. Lea slaps his cheeks with both hands, partly to invigorate himself and partly to lighten the mood a little bit, and manages to give a better laugh this time. He turns back to Roxas. ]
Well, I was going to start off by telling you I have my heart back, but I think I spoiled that surprise a little bit.
[ And Roxas is just left there.. awkwardly... as Lea attempts to pull himself together. Thankfully Roxas is patient; Xion herself had gone through some turmoil once he had arrived, though she had been a lot more open with him about it. Roxas can't expect the same from Axel, especially if none of them had become used to having their hearts returned to them. Axel didn't seem to have changed much at all; Xion had told him that Axel had only freshly arrived, but Roxas didn't guess that it was this early.
When Axel manages to turn back to him, Roxas offers him a sympathetic smile, his head tipping lightly towards his shoulder. He's such a dad. ]
Well, yeah. [ Roxas doesn't seem surprised at all. He presses his own clawed hand over his chest, his palm pressed to his own beating heart. ] We all get one when we come here. It's weird, right? I'm not even used to it yet.
[ Lea knows Roxas has already been here for some time. He must know about the temporal discrepancies going on here. Lea's not sure - he's not sure what point in time Roxas is from, but...
Roxas isn't angry with him.
( his arms remember heat and his body remembers twin Keyblades relentlessly slamming into him, and his back remembers searing pain and the force-cancelling of his own spell - )
So he's probably from further in his past. ]
Actually, I - the thing is, I know you've gotten a heart from coming here. But that's not what I'm saying. I... already got mine back. Outside, in my time. I'm -
[ - he puts a hand to his own chest, mirroring Roxas's posture - ]
[ Roxas is actually missing a lot of the physics on this, Lea. He hasn't met anyone besides Xion from his own universe, so he's completely unbeknownst to the temporal shenanigans taking place here. As far as he knows, everything is moving along in real time. Sorry. :')
At least he gets that what's going on might be beyond his current understanding. He searches Lea's face, his smile vanishing, brows furrowed. He lowers his hand as he watches the one Lea places over his chest, and then his eyes travel back to his face. ]
What do you mean? [ The possibility is frightening, but- ] Like you've changed some other way?
I - no. [ Lea shakes his head, drops his arm down to his side again, puts his other hand at his hip, and thinks. ] Roxas, if you got a heart... You don't have memories of your time as - [ Sora - ] as a human, so if you got a heart, you'd just... be you, but with a heart.
[ Lea's hands come together, and he rubs his thumbs over the patches of small, red scales on the backs of his hands. ] It's a little different when you have someone to go back to being, I guess...
Anyway, Roxas...
[ He might not know about the time stuff, and if that's the case, well... ]
What's the last thing you remember before you first came here? To Ryslig, I mean?
[ That much makes sense to him. The "time" aspect of it is confusing, but Roxas seems to simmer down as Lea explains, shoulders slackening as he gives a dull nod. The tattoos are gone from underneath his eyes, but other than that, Roxas can't see any clearly visible differences—aside from the scales, which his eyes flicker down to as Lea picks at them. He's going to figure that's from the changes, but he can ask about that later.
So are you still the person I remember? is what he wants to ask, before that other question comes up. His eyes travel downward, studying the floor. ]
...You and I had ice cream after I went to Wonderland for a mission. [ Some guilt settles in the pit of his stomach. ] It was the first time we had ice cream in a while. Xion was mad at me for some reason. [ He dares a look back at Axel. ] You said I 'pushed the wrong button'? That was a few days before I got here, though.
