Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[ True. Furry trout don't sound scary, just gross. Wouldn't that make swimming way too difficult anyways? Frankly, a werewolf sounds way more realistic than a furry trout and she's not even a zoologist or anything of the sort. If you're a werething you get to be a person a lot of the time, and then hopefully something cool the rest of it.
Rin's answer doesn't surprise Emi. ]
Drifting along during a full moon, and you wouldn't even hurt anyone, probably.
[ Unless she was low-lying enough to be fog or something. ]
[Maybe not. Lots of stuff with fur can swim - like otters, or seals. Incidentally: Those are also two animals Rin doesn't think she's mind being a wereanimal of. Seals, especially, seem like they have a good time.]
Not unless they don't like rain.
[Rin's mind is wandering again, thinking of all the stuff she could rain down on people. Water, obviously, as well as sleet and snow. But what about other stuff? Her mind drifts off - not unlike a cloud itself - daydreaming of rainbow-colored clouds that rain paint down onto the world below.
She's quiet for a while while she ponders such important concepts, but that's pretty much par for the course for their friendship. Eventually something brings Emi back to the front of Rin's mind - maybe it was the sound of her wheelchair on the road? Rin's not really sure what it was - and she speaks up again.]
[ Well, there's getting hurt, and then there's just... getting a little bit wet. Or a lot wet.
Hopefully Rin doesn't cause any flooding if she becomes a flood, that would just be sad. Lots of unpleasant stuff falls from the sky, though, and a lot of it is just different kinds of water. Emi's quiet with Rin as well, wheeling along beside her, trying not to think too much - Rin's probably doing plenty of that - and she stops, taking a slow breath when she's spoken to. ]
[Rin closes her eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath. Her head is swimming with thoughts and ideas - which isn't unusual, but it's even more than usual because of everything that's been going on.
Rin wants to clear her head of all that stuff for a moment. She's about to say something important, and she doesn't want to lose her train of thought before she says it.]
I don't know what's going on here, or how we got here, or what's going to happen to us. This whole thing is really scary, and I'm not sure what to do.
[She stops for a second, if only to take another breath.]
...but I'm really glad you're here, because this would be a lot scarier by myself.
[ Right now, while Emi's not gonna say she knows what it's like for Rin, there's a lot going on in her head too. Lots of stuff she's trying to put off thinking about; her mom, Hisao, her friends and the track team and those top end running blades she lost and the fact that, if this place truly were horrifying, she has Rin with her...
Emi dips her head. ]
...I don't know what I'd do either if I was alone here.
[ They weren't quite close enough, so she scoots her wheelchair closer, reaching up to put a hand on Rin's shoulder. ]
I'm... pretty scared anyways, but I'm glad you're here.
[Because, to be honest, Rin was a little worried Emi would be upset by her statement. Emi obviously didn't want to be here, so it seemed like it might have been a bad idea to say that she's glad Emi is here with her. It seems she was over-thinking things, though, because Emi feels the same way. That's another thing that makes Rin feel glad.
Emi's hand on her shoulder and the look on her friend's face, however, do not make Rin feel glad. The sight of the tears building in Emi's eyes is something that tips Rin's emotions over the edge.
The reality of what's happened comes crashing down on her all at once. They're just a couple of kids, stranded in god-knows-where. They don't know how they were brought here, or if anyone knows they're missing, or if anyone would even know where to start looking if they did know the two of them were missing. Rin tends to react to things oddly, and this situation itself is especially peculiar, but at the end of the day she's still a teenage girl stranded somewhere she's never been before, and expected to fend for herself.
Needless to say, it isn't a good feeling.
Rin doesn't say much else, though. She just turns toward Emi, drops to her knees, and puts her head onto the wheelchair-bound girl's shoulder. When she does speak, she doesn't bother removing her face from the fabric of Emi's shirt, and as a result it comes out as a muffled sob.]
[ Emi doesn't want to be here, but she also doesn't want Rin to be here, and she doesn't want either of them to be alone here... maybe someone who didn't know Rin as well would be offended, but Emi had too much to worry about anyways.
They could only feign confidence for so long though, and she feels her throat tighten as Rin drops down to lean against her, head on her shoulder. All she can do is wrap both of her arms around Rin, matching the position, face pressed against her friend, breathing in short, sharp gasps as she tries not to cry.

Way better than being a werewolf.

M-me too... I just... I want to go home too...
