Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[It's a furry arm that Roxas reaches out for, one that belongs to a much more furry Riku. He was only in the area in Vandare to look at new human arrivals. Though the blond nest of spikes is distinctive, the manticore merely bypassed him as yet just another monster, not a familiar face.
He stops suddenly when grabbed, ears alert when Roxas speaks and pupils wide with surprise. Plenty of people have arrived, and an equal number have left, but as far as he knows no one's come back in the form that they've left in.
Does that mean he knows this place and remembers them? Has time passed on for Roxas back home? Does he know that they've fought like enemies?
Riku secretly hopes not. They were far from friends, a relationship not even decent enough to be called acquaintances, which is something he's still personally fine with. He's undeserving of such titles anyways. But someone still needs to look at him. Watch him from the shadows.
The harpy will be met with an unfamiliar face; gold eyes, cat ears, some light fur around his slight muzzle, but the voice should be familiar enough.]
[ Roxas hadn't recognized him even before he grabbed him; not only was Riku nearly concealed in his new monstrous form, but at this point, Roxas is desperate and in a haze of hunger. He's someone he might be able to get some information from, if anything.
When Riku looks back at him, Roxas doesn't recognize him at all. He meets him head-on, mouth pressed together, eyes squinted as he searches the stranger's expression for some sympathy or help. When Riku speaks, his eyes round considerably, his lips parting open. Roxas has been gone for months, but to him, it only feels like he's been gone a few days. ]
Are you- [ He trails off, searching the stranger before letting his arm go and furrowing his brows. ] ...Riku? Is that you?
[After the last influx of people and Lea's reaction to particular at that time, Riku's rather desensitized to the shocked expressions now. He doesn't blame anyone if they want to question his identity.
There's a light sigh and a nod of confirmation. At the very least this confirms that Roxas knows him from here and not just from their universe, and it's one less person that he has to explain their monstrous nature to.]
[ That's definitely Riku. Now that Riku had wordlessly confirmed the fact, he's picking any of Riku's features that have been steadfast through his changes out of his new monstrous form. And yeah, none of this could have just happened in- ]
I was only in there for a few days. What happened? [ He looks at his own hands, like the people in the hospital must've done something to him and not to them. What's going on? ]
[Where to start, is what Riku wants to say, but he bites his tongue. He's not very sure if he's the right person to tell him what's going on. A friend might be better suited for something like this.
Plus, does he really want to mention everything that's gone on here? Even for someone that's already turned into a monster, it's pretty horrific news to receive.]
It's been months here. A lot of people's changes have progressed, and there's still no fix.
[It's not good news, but it covers the important points that the harpy needs to know.]
[ The comment hits him like a blow to the stomach. ]
Months...? [ This can't be right. But Riku's changes really couldn't have progressed this quickly. He doesn't seem the type to joke around about it either. ]
Not even anything from Bavan? ...How is everyone dealing with it? [ His eyes narrow. ] That fog's still coming in, right?
[Lots of questions, that is to be expected. Riku shifts his weight from foot to foot, momentarily looking away.]
The fog's still coming in. There was nothing new from Bavan and haven't been any new leads for a while. And how everyone's dealing with it... that depends on the person.
[ Roxas swallows, a pang of hunger striking his stomach. Even his own throat is dry. He blinks hard, his eyes flickering downward, but he looks back to Riku in the end. Both of his arms fold, pushing down over his stomach. He's hungry, but when will he get the chance to speak to Riku again? ]
Has everything been okay? [ His brows draw together. ] Everyone's changing more and more... When the fog comes in, is it bad?
[Riku watches Roxas' movement carefully, ears and eyes alert and focused. He starting to not look good to the manticore, but Riku can't remember how far long his changes were before he vanished.][A pause. His ears go flat against his head.] ...I don't think it's a good sign that you're back here, Roxas.
