Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
I've been waiting all day for you to show up-- [STANFORD PINES, AT LAST WE MEET---ohgod what the hell is that?!? You know what, screw this place! Skeletons were bad enough but this, this just takes the cake, now don't it.]
D-don't eat me! I'll give all my money to charity, really, I will--- [Composure, what is that? Whatever it is, it sure left the building. And if he weren't so scared, he'd probably play everything up, you know, crocodile tears style, but that's not gonna work so you're left with scrambling so his back's against the wall. If he's gonna get chewed on, he's gonna see it coming, okay, he's not gonna--- okay, he is gonna cower a bit, hiding behind the box, great strategy-- he's not gonna--]
You'll be hearin' from my lawyer!! [It's the best threat he can manage right now, okay, give him points for trying.]
[ Stan’s laugh, both coarse and boisterous, echoes through the street. ] Your lawyer ain’t here. [ He leans in, eyes glowing once more as he immobilizes his prey. ] No one is. [ No Bud, no town; no one left to protect him.
Gideon had proven quite the pest in the past, driven by some stupid obsession that involved taking everything and everyone from Stan. Ironically, it had led him to lose such himself, a victory in itself to watch the little skunk carried off to jail in the end. He’d gotten justice, proven to the town how evil the kid truly was, but seeing the boy cower before him was almost as satisfying. His long wip-like tail moves from side to side as his smile stretches further.
The termite rambled on about how dangerous he could be, how he was some great threat one should not take lightly. But what he’d failed to realize was how dangerous Stan could be and now he would see first hand.
The demon reaches for Gideon with clawed hand, threatening to tear his custom tailored suit as he lifts the boy by his collar. ] Oh, I’m gonna enjoy this.
[ He flaps his monstrous wings, preparing for flight just as Gideon’s collar begins to rip. Before Stan has the chance to realize what’s happening, the shirt tears completely, freeing the boy from his grasp and allowing him to run. ]
Shows what you know!! [Step one: hire lawyer. Step two: ???. Step three: revenge. It's a very good step three, he relies on it a lot. There's a whole lot of, uh, other stuff to sort through, though, mainly panic and gerroffme and did we mention the panic, because that's kind of a Thing right now.
He's stuck with whatever crowd he can scrape together out of prisoners and villagers. All because that family had to meddle and get in his way. They're both fakers, aren't they? So what if he spied on everyone and maybe tried to hurt a few people to get there. Only real difference is Stan's the one sitting on a gold mine. When he gets his hands on it, well, then we'll see who's got the power.
On his own, Gideon's not much, no. The way he's squirming and attempting to either guard his hair or throw a punch isn't helping his case, either.] Wh-what are you, insane?!
[His shirt rips and he runs for it. Doesn't think twice, just goes. Heads for the busiest street he can find.
[ The noise to escape Stan isn’t human, Mister Mystery resembling more of an animal then a man with the roar he produced. He jumps into the air, wings carrying him well above the crowd as looks for his prey. He spots Gideon just as he steps into the street, the shine of his hair like a beacon among the crowd of pedestrians. ]
I’m gonna find you, kid! [ he calls out tauntingly and flies after him.
Gideon needn’t look back to know the demon was hot on his heels, heavy wings heard flapping above as he tries to swoop down and snatch the boy. He dives for Gideon at the first available opening, claws mere inches from catching the boy’s jacket before he collides with a fire hydrant. The force cracks the cement and delivers a powerful blast to Stan’s face.
Disorientated, the demon struggles to follow the four Gideon’s he sees run off into the busy street. Cars honk and swerve around him, the wail of a semi’s horn the only warning Stan gets before feeling the impact of the truck.
The collision sends Stan flying into an overhead power line, smashing the wooden structure and snapping the conductors loose. Sparks light up the sidewalk as the wires drag against the pavement, dangerously close to the injured demon that lay there. Reduced to his hands and knees, Stan looks around for signs of Gideon, hurt but by no means down. ]
Oh no, you're not!! [Great comeback, kid. Take you all day to think of that one? Kind of hard to shout it while ducking between people's knees, and especially considering the wide birth they're giving him.
There's a sound like a bomb went off somewhere behind him, and he he sees the sparking power line and jack-knifed semi-truck when he looks back. By now most of the townsfolk start looking around for Potential Gideons so they don't get munched on. Given the sparkly hair, they're probably onto him, too, and they start heading inside and barring the doors and-- you get the idea, right out of the standard monster attack playbook. By the time Gideon remembers to start moving again, most of the streets are thinning fast.]
Just give up already! [Maybe there's an alley he can duck down? Sounds like as good a plan as any, let's do it!]
i'm not :P
