Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[Hiro's okay with horror stories. As a kid, his brother would share some of the creepy Japanese legends that their parents used to tell him, and all it really did was spark Hiro's imagination. So while it might not necessarily be soothing to him, he doesn't mind it at all.]
Well, you said she wears a mask when she shows up, right? How could I answer her if I don't actually see her face?
[He smiles.] That's actually a good answer. If you question, her, she gets confused. If you say "you're just okay" or "average" or something along those lines, she won't kill you either. The way it goes, if you say 'yes', she takes off the mask and asks it again. If you say yes again, she'll cut your mouth too. If you say no, then she'll just kill you. Also if you say no from the beginning, she'll kill you.
[A-ya turns back to Hiro, still smiling.] It's a little believable if you imagine it as a woman stalking people out of spite instead of a spirit, right? People in the 70's actually were worried about it apparently.
[He grins a little. Sometimes his survival instincts really help him out. Or at least he'd like to think they do.] Wow. That's... pretty crazy.
But you're right. I guess that sort of thing could just be some psycho obsessed with, y'know, standards of beauty or whatever. [He shrugs one shoulder.] Plausible, but still pretty out there.
That's what I like about it. It has a strange story but it sounds believable enough that if you spread a rumour that you saw a woman with a mask and scissors, people would become anxious.
[Such a fun personality he has. But he seems to like Hiro well enough. He likes anyone that goes along with his hobbies.]
Do you know any rumours or urban legends like that?
Urban legends, huh? Hmm. [He taps a finger to his chin as he thinks back, trying to remember a story that didn't come out of a horror movie or anything.]
Oh, here's one. There's a place in Ojai Valley - in California - where there was some really big wildfire a long time ago. According to the story, a man and his son lived up there and were trapped by the fire. The father died in the fire, but the son survived with some really bad burns. By the time people got up there to rescue them, the son had already gone totally nuts. He'd hung his father up on a tree and tore off all the burned skin, before disappearing into the mountains.
People say that sometimes the son shows up at people's camps in the area and attacks them, wanting to take their skin and replace his own with it. I think they called him Char-Man 'cause of how burned up he was.
