TEST DRIVE, MARCH ROUND

TEST DRIVE MEME
Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:

  • Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
  • You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
  • The reserve date has been announced.
  • Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
  • NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.

Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.

SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.

SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.

SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[San is going to be disappointed when Jack doesn't cut out the kiddos. However, he also isn't interested in making enemies so soon, so he restrains himself from saying it just to make his point.]

I don't, actually. [He spreads his hands impassively and shrugs his shoulders. Having warning spread meant they could corner and hunt them like fish in a barrel. But Jack is still only human, and his tech is malfunctioning. Better to play by his acquaintance's rules for now.] But whatever floats your boat will float mine all the same. Lead on.
dominateartimus: (I wouldn't agree)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-02 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
[That certainly earns Jack a raised eyebrow. Here he thought the other man wanted to keep his unruly reputation unknown until he was settled in a bit more. Then again, the shade was trying to keep up his own appearance to the public despite his unusual appearance and hiding the fact he was responsible for several comatose innocents after ripping out their souls while in his more monstrous form.]

Well, I could give you a tour but you've already acquainted yourself with the hospital. [He takes the lead and gestures the masked man to follow him with his hand.] As for your earlier question, they're anxious every time a group of people are fished out of the water with various injuries. Eventually, they transform in to monsters. Hopefully you're not too attached to your human form.
pandornah: (hey young blood)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-02 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
[Hm.

Jack already had a various amount of scars on him, but he had noticed a few new scratches when he had woken up. As a matter of fact, he was quite attached to being...well, him.

You would be too, if you were him.]

Sooooo...you have a freakshow...problem.

[He gestures with both hands, and eyes a scratch on his wrist while frowning.]

So you're not actually from around here either.
dominateartimus: (Darkening thoughts)

[San was a completely different supernatural being before he arrived on the peninsula. He wasn't pleased to adjust to his mortal body's demands and weaknesses, even with the additions of becoming a shade.]

The townsfolk would agree about the monster problem. [He stuffs his hands in to his pants pocks and it was clear that he was annoyed with the subject of his next sentence.] You can thank the multiple gods that they worship for causing this.

[With his focus preoccupied on the various methods of how he'd get back at the deities, he's unaware of the wisps that start to pour out from his skin. His human appearance was starting to fade in to a dark, featureless humanoid.]

I'm a foreigner, just like you.
pandornah: (put on your war paint)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-02 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, a history lesson, my favorite. Religion lesson? Whatever.

[There's a lack of sarcasm in his tone, but also a lack of excitement, making it difficult to tell if he really means what he says. Given the fact that he hasn't looked away from San, its likely that he's actually interested in the topic, but doesn't want to appear too interested.

Because then you look like a freakin' nerd.

His eyes do, however, follow the subtle changes going on with his companion's body, one eyebrow raising with interest and his arms relaxing slightly. The goings-on were similar to how he saw Angel behave when her powers were active, save for a few obvious differences.

If this place saw siren-esque powers as a curse, then he didn't even know what to say.]

Have you uh. Met them? The god-things.

[Because everyone knew that gods were just really powerful creatures and not actually indestructible. The Sentinel and the Destroyer had proven that to him.]
dominateartimus: (Mark my words)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-02 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be a mix of the two. [He confirms, even though he was being somewhat reluctant to explain. Then again, he hasn't done that much research on the gods.] I'll spare you a lecture on it and if you do get curious, the library has several books on the subject.

[San comes to a stop upon hearing the question about meeting one of the gods and turns to face Jack. His face is expressionless -- thanks to being in his shade form -- but his tone continues to be hostile as the wisps around him start to thrash.]

I think I've met two of them. Apparently one of them were in disguise and talked to people in their dreams while the other, in a different disguise, asked questions before trapping several people in a basement for a couple of days.

[He files that information away for later, and instead focuses on the encounter he knows has happened already.]

So they're friendly...cute. Oh, you got a little bit-a...

[He gestures helpfully to the thrashing wisps, drawing his fingers back before he can touch them.]

dominateartimus: (Never seen a soldier quite like me)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-04 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
They're not. If they were friend-

[He says bluntly, still sounding angry with the gods. But that comment about his appearance causes to pause in his explanation before looking down at himself. At least the wisps have calmed down a little.]

...Of an unusual look going? [A small chuckle slips out.] This what I look like normally if I don't maintain my human for. You can thank the gods for that.
pandornah: (one maniac at a time)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-04 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if I'd call this uh. Human. But, potaytoe potahto.

[So the price of free reign on the townsfolk was turning into a...monster. That was what he was following. He can't quite figure out who the real perpetrator is here. If the townsfolk acted in a way that made gods angry, then they probably deserved to be eaten.]

Could be worse, you could be oozing acid or something. Actually, that sounds pretty gross as much as its awesome.
dominateartimus: (Considering)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-04 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't referring to this form. I was talking about my previous appearance, what would be my normal one back home without the glowing eyes and 'shadow'. [That's not exactly true, but not like Jack needed to know that.]

It does sound amusing, but I have it lucky compared to some others. [He starts to lead the way again. Even if his hand was starting to change in to a different limb.] They have to deal with becoming an animal every night or are forced to be a hybrid between two beings.
pandornah: (and scrap metal the tanks)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-04 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeesh.

[And that was going to happen to him? Suddenly, things seem less appealing. He has this horrible vision of being half man, half skag and its the worst.

The only thing worse would be being surgically attached to a CL4P-TP unit.]

How's the curse work--wait, don't answer that, there's no way you have that answer or you would've fixed it. [Mismatched eyes flick sideways] Right?
dominateartimus: (Neither angel or demon)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-04 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
There's people working on a way to fix that as we speak. Not sure how many scientists are on-board but I know quite a few in the medical profession who are doing their best to make the changes less of a pain. All you can do is hope that your transformation won't be too painful.

[Another chuckle slips out of him as he turns a corner, leading them on to a different street. The shade still hasn't noticed that his hand turned in to pincers.]

A few people on the network believe and say that they can kill the gods. They claim to have experience but not everyone believes them for obvious reasons.

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-05 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
You know what they say, bucko: no pain, no gain.

[He's been shot at, cut apart, branded, and had metal surgically installed in his face. He likes to think his pain tolerance is pretty high.

That doesn't mean he'll actively seek it out, of course.

The thing about trying to kill the gods though, that gets his interest. He won't say that he's killed gods before (not because he made other people kill them, but because he doesn't wish to make himself a target).]

That's a laugh. You ever see anyone try?
dominateartimus: (Cool and collected)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-05 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
I do. I tend to say that phrase to others back home. [Sometimes. It really depended on his mood at the time.]

Here? Not yet. [He shakes his head before his hand reverts back to normal.] Although I would love to see them try. Unless you're asking about where I come from.

[The shade comes to a stop before turning to look at the other man, making sure the new comer was still following. Then he gestures to the place before them.] Welcome to the market. It's not much, but it'll have to do.
pandornah: (one maniac at a time)

[personal profile] pandornah 2015-03-05 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Its a good little jingle, yeah.

[He never found Pandora to be an impressive planet, except for the fact that it was hiding so many vaults -- in theory, at least. He hadn't confirmed it yet, but considering the fact there were at least two...it stood to reason there could be more.

But that was neither here nor there. Pandora was a sad little desert planet, and this market...well, it was better, but it still didn't measure up to what he would've implemented, if he was in charge.

He sucks back on his teeth.]

You're tellin' me.
dominateartimus: (If I were you I'd listen)

[personal profile] dominateartimus 2015-03-06 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Jack's response causes him to chuckle, even though there was no movement in his face, throat or chest. Don't mind him as he takes a moment to change back in to his human form.]

Well, if you don't like the selection here you could make your way to Bavan. Things are a bit more advanced over there but you'll need to take a carriage. Unless you enjoy walking everywhere.
