Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[The last face Xion expects to see again is Roxas's. Especially not with feathers, looking exactly as he had when he had disappeared all those months ago. Xion's completed her changes in full by now. But he's here, he's real and Xion takes a step towards him-]
Roxas...
[And instantly her eyes are watering and she sniffles, lower lip trembling as she breaks into a run at him, arms outstretched to hug him tight against her if he doesn't object, because she's going to cry something fierce on him. She's missed him so much. So, so much. Axel doesn't remember her at all but this is the same Roxas who does, the Roxas who had first shown up here in this strange world with her and he's back and finally it feels like a missing piece has been returned home.
She's cold, but surprisingly warmer than the ambient temperature for a change.]
[ The last thing Roxas is expecting in the town is for anything but the villagers he's approaching to shy away from him. The less-than-savory weather is thankfully buffered against his plumage, and so he isn't cold aside from the patches of skin still left unfeathered. He keeps himself warm enough with his feathers folded about him and his arms crossed over his chest, but nothing prepares him for the sound of someone running straight for him—on hooves less than feet?—and for furred arms to squeeze tightly around his middle. He knows that voice. Looks like he doesn't have to ask around anymore. ]
Xion! [ The shock wears off quickly; his mouth pulls in a smile and he winds his arms back around her. He doesn't squeeze as tightly, if only because he's not use to hugs at all, but this feels right enough. His chin hooks over her shoulder, and he gives her a small squeeze. ] I've been looking all over for you!
[ He'll notice how different she looks once she pulls away, but already he feels the odd, warm fur tickling his neck and arm and cheek. She's gotten a lot furrier. And there's something wet seeping into his shoulder... His smile falls. ]
[She rubs her face against him, sniffling a little more because No, she's not crying you're crying-- No, she's totally crying and its out of sheer relief.]
You've been gone months, Roxas! I- I thought something bad happened to you! Axel's here now too, but... he doesn't like me anymore- doesn't remember me? I think he thinks I'm going to hurt him or something--
[The rest of it becomes fast babbling peppered with sniffles and her pulling away rubbing furiously at her face. She's crying, but she's smiling, at the very least.
[ Months? And Axel arrived? Roxas doesn't know what to address first. When she pulls away, he can finally see the signs of age on her. She's changed so much since he last saw her—and with the sort of changes that don't come just from a few days of him being in the hospital. He wants to be happy about seeing her again, but he just watches her in all his surprise and confusion and tears, his hands resting on her upper arms. His voice is small and surprise: ]
I've been gone for that long? [ His hunger still clenches and rolls in his stomach, but he has enough sense to talk with her about this. ] Xion, I- I just felt like I was in there for a few days. [ So, yeah, he would miss her too if he felt like he had lost that much time at all. Now he has to compensate for that somehow. He looks at her with worry. ]
I'm really glad you're okay. But what do you mean, Axel doesn't remember you? What happened?
[She nods, hugging herself now instead of Roxas, recoiling in on herself.]
I don't know- He showed up here two months ago, he changed his name to Lea or something and he doesn't remember me. Demyx and Larxene do though- they're both here too. I don't know what happened because he remembers you too.
[Her eyes are watering again, and she rubs at them furiously. It's just like when she'd come back from death with Walter, only this was Roxas and she's closer to him. Or not anymore, not really, but it's Roxas and there's something undeniably different about him than anyone else.]
[ Roxas keeps his hands at her arms, just to give her something to ground herself as she continues to cry. He wants to comfort her somehow, but what can he really do? He needs to find Axel and sort this out. He furrows his brows. Even if she had grown closer to Walter since he left, Xion and Axel were still the people he was closest with. ]
Whatever's going on, we'll fix it. I promise. [ He doesn't want to think that the scientists might have altered him somehow, but it sounds like a possibility. ] Where is he? I'll talk to him and get to the bottom of this.
[ ...She found him out. He makes a mental note to find and talk to Kairi about this later—Xion herself didn't seem in a state for it, and with months being behind him, Roxas feels like he has a lot of things to catch up on. For now, yeah. He presses a hand back over his stomach, quelling the urge to squeeze his twisting stomach. Claws in your skin isn't all that comfortable, and he needs this shirt. He swallows. ]
I'm... starving. [ He says it quietly, in case there's anyone listening. Now that he's said it out loud, the hunger feels a little more painful. ] I don't even know if they fed me while I was in the hospital. I don't even remember how I got there... [ He lowers his hand from her arm and brings his eyes to the ground. ]
I'm still changed, so I guess that doesn't matter. I don't feel any different.

All of a sudden she sags limply. He'd gone, only to return to this. How had he managed to not eat anyone in so long? To still be in control? Xion can't figure it out.]
Roxas... I.. I should have some food. Maybe. I think. Come on.
[ Why is she so down again, suddenly? Even if she had been crying a moment ago and worried about Axel, she seemed happy to be back with him, at least. So why the change in atmosphere? Was it because he hadn't changed? Or found a way to reverse the effects of becoming a monster?
Brows furrowed, he tries to offer her a reassuring smile, waving a hand in defense. ]
I-I can catch something for myself, Xion. I can't take the food you guys already have. I should go into the woods and find something, or maybe I can fish.
No, no. It's alright. We have more than enough for you too! Our stockpiles are pretty big since I'm never full anymore, so I eat quite a bit!
[She smiles, but it doesn't reach her eyes. He doesn't know, so she wont tell him.
Not yet, anyway. It's better to let him eat some human meat and feel better than to let him try and quell the hunger with fish or deer or something like that and have him go berserk and hurt people in the end.]
[ There's something off. Roxas can't point out what it is, though he offers her a smile back, trying to seem entirely sincere about it. He trusts her. And she trusts him too, right? Her words seem reassuring enough, so he's going to look past his weird gut feelings. It's probably nothing anyway. ]
Alright. I can help you restock later on. [ He's thinking she means that she's never full as a figure of speech... ] You definitely look like you eat a lot more. You've changed. You look... furrier.
Because I am furrier. And these antlers grow back every time they break off. Which happens more often then I like. [She laughs, but it's mostly to hide how uncomfortable she is.]
I'm gonna try to help you look out for that from now on. [ Once he learns how to turn into a tiny bird eventually, he'll be able to do it all the time!! ] That doesn't sound fun. Are you and Walter still living in Bavan?
Yeah, right next to the lake. Walter turned into a Merman, so he needs the water a lot of the time. It's more convenient like that. Especially with the forest close too.
[ Sorry but. Roxas is really starving. He'll get them started on walking, ignoring the angry churn of his stomach. He keeps a hand (claw?) over his stomach, but he can at least walk normally, though his eyes are squinted, as if that would ease his pangs of hunger. ]
Anything else I should know about? You said Demyx and Larxene showed up too, right? Where are they?
[She'll start leading, even if he does know the way back.]
Uhm... I'm not really sure where they are, to be honest. Bavan, I think. Also there's a fourth god too now, who's fighting with the fog god over us apparently?
They're fighting over us? [ It's concerning that there's another god around, but also important that they not be treated like some kind of toys to be fought over. ] You mean they want control of us, as monsters? Who are they?
