Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
"No- I mean my friends if any of them have shown up. They'd still be human, not like me. And I'm not hunting anything, really. I was going to the butchers." Granted, the butcher isn't anything like the one in Bavan where she usually goes, where she's worked out a deal the best she can. But they're still wary of monsters like her, and it's enough to have them doing what she wants, even if she hates thinking of it that way, until she can pay properly for what she's taken.
Xion slouches a little, looking off to the side. What she's doing clearly isn't helping her cause, so she tries for another approach. "My name is Xion," she tries for the friendliest tone she can muster, awkwardly holding out her hand, though she doesn't move. "It's nice to meet you." Maybe introductions would set him at ease? She doesn't know, but at least she's trying.
Wait, hold on a second. Sam had been operating under the (fair) assumption that whatever this creature is, it's exactly that; a creature. He understood that there are beings who transform from one thing to another, but this one in particular doesn't ring a bell. His brows furrow together as the blade lowers slightly, his interest piqued.
"What do you mean...you are--were human?" That...that definitely puts a whole new spin on things.
He eyes the extended hand, not ready to take it even with a friendly gesture. Is that a smile? It's hard to tell with that boney skull. Sam doesn't return the gesture or the smile, but his expression appears a little more curious than on edge.
"David," he says with a nod, one of the aliases he uses.
"That's right. I was human." When her hand isn't taken after a bit, it drops to her side unassumingly. That's fine, maybe he doesn't know what a handshake is, she hadn't when she'd first arrived. Surely someone would tell him eventually. "You've seen the pamphlets going around right? There's a few new ones around, but they're mostly true. Everyone who ends up here changes into a monster after awhile."
Not the friendly Halloween Town kind ones either. "I was one of the first to show up here, but... I don't always look like this," She gestures to herself. "Some of us get more... monstrous when the fog is around. And there's even another kind that's even more troublesome. It happens less frequently, though."
Right, the pamphlets. He'd received quite a few when he arrived, although he'd initially written them off as a hoax. When it came to the supernatural, the locals weren't usually so open about things. Usually. He's been proven wrong more than once and it seems that this town is one of those times. One comes to mind in particular, Alternatives to Human Flesh. Were they preparing him for what he might encounter or...
...what he might become?
She only confirms it. Sam swallows, this time lowering the machete entirely. He knows it's not wise to just take anyone on their word, let alone a monster, but with everything he's experienced thus far, it's hard to argue. Though the last thing he wants to believe is that a young girl could turn into that--that he just might.
"What are you?" It seems fair enough to ask, his brows turning upwards as he glances along her figure, something that might be inappropriate had she not turned into, you know, a monster.
The machete lowers, and Xion herself relaxes visibly. She'd smile in relief, if she could.
"A Wendigo." Or that's what she's been called by the locals. She's never heard of them before coming here, so she doesn't exactly have a better guess. Werewolves, Vampires and Shades, she knows and gets. Rather, Shades she knows more as 'Ghosts', but it's the same basic idea. "I think we're one of the least common things to turn into, I only know three others not including me." She readies, in case he asks about that too.
She's glad there's not many Wendigo like her, though. She couldn't imagine there being more than there were, especially with the constant hunger that was only ever barely satiated by humans, and even then it's not particularly for long.
Xion doesn't know what she'd do without Walter. She doesn't like hurting people. Maybe that's a little selfish to put such pressure on him, though.
