Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look.
You can only app ONE character per round so choose wisely.
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
NEW! Players with characters already in the game can earn up to a maximum of 3 coins by replying to potential character threads! You will need to have your normal 20 comment AC in the game. You cannot use this to go over the bonus 10 coins per month total, but you can use it if you are missing some threads to reach that coin total. Same rules as normal bonuses apply.
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: So you've just arrived, fresh out of the hospital, and already the natives are trying to get on your good side. Offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all great pamphlets. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: You've heard about the fog, but you've never seen it before. Now, the mist surrounds you. Barely able to see before you, you need to get home - and fast. It's far too dangerous in this situation.
SCENARIO FOUR: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
It itches a little, that's all. [More than a little, really, but
compared to the feeling of having horns suddenly shove their way out from
under his skin, he'll take some itching any day.
Her comment about the woman she's staying with, though, catches his
attention; he hasn't given much thought to the situation of those brought
here as children. (Of course, it may be because his own childhood was very
short.) If they're too young to work and earn enough money to have their
own place... well, that's inevitable, isn't it?]
Perhaps you should make some friends among the other newcomers here. You
may fare better than with natives.
[She nods lightly; hers was itching something fierce as it continued up to her shoulders where it started to change to a soft yellow. She wanted to just dig her fingers in and scratch away but how rude would that be.]
Mm, I should. It's just such an odd predicament, it makes things a little awkward. What about you? Is someone waiting for you to get home?
For me? No, there is no one. [He pauses, recognizing the bleakness
of the statement; it's true that he lives alone, and slightly isolated --
probably not the wisest choice for a man adapting to near-blindness. But
it's more comfortable, more natural for him.] ... My name, by the
way, is Itachi.
[Where are his manners? Oh wait, he's abandoned them years
ago.]
[Well... sounds like he might be in the same boat as her. While she's not living alone, per se, the natives don't exactly seem to care. She smiles to the introduction.]
Mine's Olette.
[And... well, why not. He did say to make friends.]
Say... you wouldn't happen to have any extra rooms where you're staying at, would you?
[It's perhaps a testimony to just how long Itachi has spent as an unapproachable monster that the question is actually one he did not see coming.
She's asking to crash with him? Him? Uchiha Itachi, the mass murderer? People don't do that. They give him a wide berth and look at him with nervous eyes, the same as she did when she first ran into him.
But he looks down at her thoughtfully, and considers how nice it would be not to be forced to eat his own cooking all the time.]
[She waits quietly for him to decide. She knows it's something to think about, he might even need more time. They don't know each other and that's reason enough to decline.
But it would be awful nice to room with someone who was going through changes like her...
To his question she blinks, then smiles]
I can! I know a few recipes, and I'm sure I can learn others!
Then that is the deal I will offer you. Cooking in exchange for lodging.
I have a spare bedroom you can use. [It's rather precipitous, but
the truth is, he's not accustomed to being fully alone. The last eight
years have seen him with Kisame always at his side. This girl is a far cry
from his enduring partner, but... better than nothing.]
