MONSTER CROSSING: CHANGING FORMS

MONSTER CROSSING: CHANGING FORMS

PENINSULA LIVING

Welcome to the island peninsula of Ryslig! We hope you'll make a happy, relaxing life here. Get settled in and enjoy life. Are you a new arrival, or perhaps an (animal) villager? Are you confused? Worried? Don't be--there's nothing here than can hurt you. Except wasps. And tarantulas.

So, what are you going to do with your new life? Are you going to go collecting bugs and fish? Will you be wandering the halls of the museum? Mailing passive-aggressive letters to the neighbor you don't like? Are you taking a quiet moment to tend to your elaborate garden? Maybe you'd like to take up a job as a barista at the local café, or listen in on a concert from our very own K.K. Slider. Or...perhaps you'd even like to deal in illicit (fake) art?

Feel free to make up your own character's villager equivalent or check the taken page for their assignment! This is a meme, after all, and it's April Fools, so do what you want. Below are some prompts to inspire you. Have fun!
1. Moving In - So, you've decided that peninsula living is the perfect getaway for you. Congratulations! We've delivered all your luggage to your house lot, and it's time to unpack. There's a lot of furniture to get through...maybe your neighbors'll drop by to help, or bring welcoming gifts!

2. The Museum - Ahhh, the museum--the perfect place to learn all about the native bugs and fish on the peninsula, as well as historical art and fossils! There's an aquarium section, along with an open conservatory where you can observe insects and creepy-crawlies in their natural habitat. The fossil hall is dark and spooky, but offers a great chance to learn about dinosaurs and the critters that came before! And why not become a little more cultured by staring deeply into the eyes of the Mona Lisa?

3. The Roost - This café is the hippest spot on the peninsula, and the perfect place to grab a cup of coffee and chat with your friends! Brewster is the pigeon in charge of this joint--if you're nice, maybe he'll let you help out.

4. Nook's Cranny - Welcome to Nook's Cranny, yes yes! Your one stop shop for all your island needs! Looks like there's a rare item on sale today--but you're not the only one who's got their eye on it! Quick, snag it before it gets sold out!

5. AHHHH!!! - Well, you went and shook the wrong tree, and now there are wasps chasing after you. Now what?

6. Wildcard - Make up your own prompts!

[Emmet sat on the stool looking down at his coffee. This wasn't what he ordered. He ordered a Mocha with three scoops of sugar and lots of milk. In other words, something that shouldn't have counted as coffee in the first place. It would have made the teeth of lesser people hurt, but not him. Maybe the Barista who took his order misheard him? Or perhaps they were just too busy and gave him someone else's order. He started to wave down the person/animal behind the counter to try and get their attention.]

[He had built a net. It wasn't the best net in the world, but it was his and very flimsy and he was going to work on catching them all. And by 'them all' he meant bugs. He had a booklet ready to mark down his captures, and he was quietly trying to sneak up on anything that vaguely looked like it it would scare Blathers. Then he saw it, bouncing merrily off of a villager. A flea. He quietly approached the villager and had his net ready to catch and brought it down as quickly.]

Gotcha!

1. It was Zeki's first day on the peninsula and she couldn't be more...

...underwhelmed. It was very quaint and pretty, and her new home had everything she needed. It just wasn't very fashionable, and Zeki was very fashionable. Well. It could pass for cottagecore, she supposed. But the casual goth 'I'm dark and mysterious but I'm above having to prove it to you by looking like it' subculture was all the rage right now. But since fitting in was so important, she supposed she'd have to get rid of her thirty identical black sweaters and buy something cozy and 'in.'

Likewise, some of her furniture would need swapped out. Fortunately, this was the perfect time to go through it, while it was all laid out on the lawn. Anything black and lacy had to go, no jewel tones need apply, and the Ouija board coffee table was definitely out. Come help her sort!

2. All things considered, the museum was more Zeki's speed. And it was especially nice because she could go and enjoy it without having to take ownership of the unfashionable aesthetic. If you find her, she'll be looking at the fossils and judging them for having died out. Not adaptable enough. Oh well. They're interesting to look at, and maybe she's sketching some of them.

3. Ah, now this was the place to be. It was popular and there was plenty of gossip to eavesdrop on. She hasn't bought new clothes yet, so she'll be sitting tucked away in a booth, sipping her coffee (as black as her soul) and looking like she doesn't want to be there.

4. It's time to buy new clothes! She's looking for anything with yellow flowers, mushrooms, gingham, pastels, and ribbons, and at the moment, she's considering a simple white sundress. Sundresses were very chic.

5. BEING CHASED BY WASPS IS NOT FASHIONABLE OR POPULAR, THIS IS AWFUL.

6. If there's one hobby Zeki can keep across subcultures, it's her art. She just can't make anything dark and spooky. Instead, she'd taken her paints and canvas, an easel, a cute thermos, and a colorful striped throw blanket (it was a bit faded and worn looking; she'd paid extra for it to look shabby) to a park and started doing a bright and cheerful landscape while sitting right on the ground.
