SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[While the sight and sounds are chilling, there's a Nephilim observing that doesn't dare interrupt. Even if there wasn't anything left in the body that they would personally find useful, but hauling it back to share with other monsters is always on the table. Assuming this nymph didn't already have that plan in mind.

Hm. But still, what an interesting sight coming from that sort.]

So is it just you that's back now?

[Don't worry, he definitely didn't intend on leaving the body behind. This is some good fertilizer right here! Thanks be to the Fog God, for giving him TWO ways to eat a person. Now he can destroy rotten adults completely: body and soul.]

[Plus, Jataro likes to snack on the bones.]

[The nymph turns in the direction of Sora's voice, blinking and causing his nictitating membranes to open and his eyes to go back to their usual green. A look of confusion crosses his face. That's definitely Sora but...he looks so very different now.]

No, Jataro is back as well. [he's just Elsewhere right now.] Though...we really were gone for quite some time, weren't we? You're a completely different species yet again. [First a shade, then a robot, now an angel...goodness! The nymph can't help but shake his head a little with a wry sort of smile.]

When did that happen? Oh, and...don't come any closer. My pollen is still hanging around and the last thing I'd want to do is drive you mad, Sora.

[The subtle reminder of just how many different monsters he's already been thus far definitely gets a smile out of Sora despite how unpleasant he felt it was as a simulacrum.]

I saved up some coins since last time. [And while it isn't too specific, the detail should be fairly obvious. Then Sora looks toward the air around Nagisa and then the ground for visual traces of the stuff.]

Interesting trick in that case, where did you pick it up?

I see. [Devoted follower of the fog though Nagisa is, he can't fault Sora for that. He's willing to admit she's capable of making mistakes. That sometimes she doesn't actually know what will make a person happy. His main goal is actually to help her become better at that sort of thing...] Well, I'm glad you managed to find a form you prefer, then.

[He has to imagine that being a simulacrum would be kind of hard. As cool as robots are...he's not sure he'd want to be one, himself.]

And my Hope Pollen was more of a gift than a trick I picked up. It was an ability bestowed upon me by the Fog God in return for my service.

[To that, Sora nods. Knowing what friends and enemies alike could do with and without god or coin-purchased powers is always good information to stow away in his book.]
