TDM: OCTOBER

TDM: OCTOBER

Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[After wandering around the area, Ken didn't know what to think. When he woke up, he figured he would have woken up in the dorm. But alas, he was placed in this strange new environment with no idea just where he was. Trying his best to find some kind of information, he figured the best way was to ask other people.

However, that came to a halt the moment he heard an ear piercing scream nearby. Wasting no time, he just ran straight to the sound wondering what was going on.

From there, he just stared at the vines wrapped around man and then back at the boy. He wanted to say something but in that split second, he heard the man fall straight to the ground. What just happened, he wasn't sure. However, he knew what happened to that man.

Fearing for his own life, he just took a step back away from the boy.]

What did you just do?! What was that?

[The young voice brings Nagisa back to Earth Ryslig with all the abruptness and force of a bag of falling bricks. He turns on the spot, blinking as he does so and causing his eyes to go from to depths of space to a vivid bright green as his nictitating membranes open back up and disappear behind his eyelids.]

[Sure enough...it's another child standing behind him. Another child that's clearly trying to keep his distance. Another child that's scared of him.]

[And that's a sight that Nagisa simply cannot bear to see. He raises his hands up placatingly in front of him, hoping to show that he means no harm. He also keeps his distance, not taking a single step closer for fear of making the poor boy even more fearful.]

I'm not going to hurt you...you have nothing to fear from me at all, don't worry. I...only feed off of vile adults like this one.

[Despite his hands up, Ken didn't believe him. Vile adults or not, he still took the life of another person. Keeping his distance, he took a few more steps back away from him.

In the back of his mind, he wasn't sure just how he could run away should he try something funny. He has no idea what Nagisa did but he wasn't taking any chances.]

That doesn't make it right! You killed him, evil or not! [Did he really just say that?]

[He sighs a little, lowering his hands a fraction of an inch, but still keeping completely open. He's not going to try anything. Promise.]

I did kill him. I don't deny that, but...despite what you may think, it was the right thing to do. Sometimes there's just no other way to end the suffering of others than by doing away with the source itself.

[At that moment, Ken had to lower his guard. He couldn't deny what he was saying, he had to deal with a similar issue himself not too long ago.

It was strange hearing those words out from someone else.]

That's true but he didn't need to suffer. [Granted, he didn't know what this man did to warrant such a thing but he rather be optimistic for now]

[The nymph looks back down at the body, eyes narrowing and a disgusted scowl curling his lips.]

We'll have to agree to disagree on that matter, I'm afraid. As far as I'm concerned adults like this, adults who are more demon than human and would lay their hands on innocent children... They don't deserve a peaceful death. The deserve to feel the suffering they inflicted a hundred times over.

[He turns his attention back to Ken, expression softening once more.]

You just arrived here, didn't you? [Green eyes roam over the other boy's clothes. That is definitely not the sort of outfit you see in a shop window around here.] My name is Nagisa Shingetsu, and I really am sorry for both frightening you, and for causing you to witness something like this so soon after your arrival.

[A beat] I guess I can't try to convince you, huh?

[With that, there was a look of sadness but understanding on his part. Did this man do something that terrible to warrant a painful death? Once again, he didn't know. However, he couldn't blame Nagisa for what he did if it was that bad. If it were any of the people he fought before, he would have the same inner rage as he did.

Still, it just wasn't right for someone to suffer like that. But if he wasn't going to try and talk to someone who wouldn't change their mind.]

But my name is Ken Amada and I'm assuming you're familiar with this place. [How was he suppose to feel about meeting a murder? But he's still keeping his guard up]
