Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ Despite having been here alone for some time himself, Stan absolutely believes he doesn't really know what Mabel's been through. He's a grown ass man that's dealt with being homeless and in prison and dozens of other bad situations and Mabel... well, hasn't.

So, yeah. He's gonna drop to one knee and wrap Mabel up in a hug like he's intending to never let go - because right now he kind of isn't planning on letting go. ]

I'm sorry, pumpkin. Didn't mean to leave you alone like that.

[ Even if she hadn't already said it flat out, there'd be no question in his mind that she is alone. If Dipper or Ford had run into her they wouldn't have just wandered off. ]

[Without even realizing it, Mabel's eyes started to water. She was going to turn into some kind of monster with no real reason why and everyone being mean to her. All she wanted was someone to help her.

But now that he was here, things seemed to be okay! Or at the very least, she hoped so. As she continued to hug him, she kept on crying]

I know you wouldn't! I just don't want to be alone here! Everyone is saying I'm a monster and I don't even know what's going on!

[ Yeah, the monster thing... Stan had handled it alright, but he's not really surprised that Mabel is having a hard time with it. It's probably scarier when you're a thirteen-year-old girl and not a tired grumpy old man who's already been through some serious bullshit. ]

Hey, look, that's... uh...

[ 'Unavoidable' is absolutely not what she wants to hear right now, and while he's not about to lie and insist it'll be fine he's not really sure what else he can do. ]

S-some of the people here are real jerks, you know? But the monster thing is... well...

[ ... Unavoidable. Damnit. ]

[In the back of her mind, she already knew what was coming. She didn't want to turn into a monster despite how much she didn't want to. With a frown, she let go of him.]

...I'm going to turn into one, huh? I know you're turning into one too!

[But the thing is, he turned out looking adorable! And yet, here she was. She had no idea just what kind of monster she was going to turn into]

What do I do, Grunkle Stan? I just don't want people to be mean to me! I want them to like me!

[ Okay, so he can't do anything about the monster thing. On the other hand, he thinks he can do something about this. ]

Hey, come on. Does this look like a place where everyone's gonna hate you just for looking a little spooky?

[ He gestures expansively at the surrounding crowd and, indeed, most of them aren't paying Stan or any of the other monsters much mind. There's a few icy looks here and there, but nothing more. ]

And you even managed to get along with the Northwest kid. Anyone who doesn't wanna be your friend just cause you've got claws or wings or whatever is just some stupid jerk who's not worth your time, alright?

[He's got a good point. Now that she did look around, there weren't anyone paying much attention to him. Now that she thought about it, there were a bunch of other people who looked a little weird too. In fact, most of them just minded their own business.

Suddenly, she felt herself smiling for the first time since she gotten here. ]

You're right. Who cares if I'm some weird slimy monster with six heads or something? What matters most is what's deep down inside!

[A beat]

It's the heart of a girl who can make you just as equally gross!

[ Oh good, it worked! Stan lets out a bark of laughter and ruffles her hair, and he's even careful with his claws when he does it. ]

The last thing you need is an extra head, kiddo. Never mind five extra heads.

[ Fortunately, he doesn't recall seeing any multi-headed monsters around here, but thinking about the monsters he has seen gives him another thing to jump to. ]

But hey, it's not all slime monsters. I met a guy that was half squirrel the other day, and apparently I'm turning into some kinda flying lizard.

[In return, Mabel couldn't help but giggle]

Oh c'mon, you know five extra Mabel heads means the more fun!

[Granted, there was a part of her that was still worried about turning into a monster in general. Who will she turn out as?

She wasn't sure but just having someone who she knows here is good enough to calm her anxiety]

Flying lizard? That's just a another way of saying miniature dragon!

[ Yeah, he's definitely gonna take a raincheck on the multi-headed Mabel thing. ]

Do I look like a miniature anything to you?

[ Besides, he knows some monsters change size, but he's pretty sure gargoyles don't. But it seems like he's gotten Mabel more or less calmed down, so he pushes himself to his feet again. ]

You don't gotta worry about the monster thing right now, anyway. Apparently it takes about a month for anything to start happening.

No but you shouldn't let size get to you! You're still big and mighty to me no matter what!

[That and if he did turn into a miniature dragon? She can turn out just like that lady who owns dragons!]

But I still gotta prepare though! If I do end up being weird, I might need an equally weird monster name to match!
