Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ And sure, they might look a little funny, a werewolf and a dripping wet faerie. But surely the town had seen weirder. ]

You don't have any business in Vandare, do ya? I think we oughta take the car back.

A month?

[Jesus christ what had HAPPENED while he was gone. The faerie's jaw hangs askew.]

Yeah I better get back

[ Oh, Vergil. Majima hopped into a gleaming red car with a convertible top and started the ignition, motioning for the faerie to hop in the passenger's seat. ]

I'll say. Ya missed the fun, man. Some kinda crazy meteor storm hit the city.

When doesn't something crazy happen here?

[He looks exhausted, getting into the car and pulling his hair back again.]

But I can say- I wasn't home. And if I saw the sea of stars, I don't remember it.

I didn't see ya there, either. Although that doesn't count for much, does it...?

[ Some things were perhaps best left unexplored. Majima pulled out of the parking space and started down the road, towards the direction of Bavan. ]

Hm.

[He frowns, looking up at the sky. He had a lot to catch up.]

So you guys took the expedition; what happened?

Where do I start? Ended up on some kinda crazy trumpet bird with a sea full of zombies. Then I found a way inside with a couple other monsters, and it was haunted as shit.

[ MAJIMA..... ]

Uh, didn't see ya there, though. Which was probably a good thing.

Jesus.

[He stares, concerned, but- well- what did you expect?]

What else happened, should I ask?

You remember that Burnham guy, the captain who was tryin' to find the Sea of Stars? Found his body out there, and a bunch of other monsters. Only... you know, not like us. Plants that took over your body and ghosts and shit.

But sooner or later, we all woke up back here again. Honestly couldn't tell ya if what I saw out there was normal or not.

[ But at least they could look at some nice fall scenery while they drove to Bavan! ]

Not really. Almost sad I missed it, though.

[He glances up. God- he is going to have to figure out warm clothes soon. Great.]

So I guess we're back where we started as far as research?

Ha. We did at least get a gander at the Sea of Stars, and that's something.

[ Majima's tone was wry. ]

Hope you ain't too disappointed. Hell, I'm glad to see ya back in one piece.

Well, that's something. I guess it's not fit for a cruise, huh?

[He's not that disappointed. Of course he'd like to be part of it but, well- considering his track record, he probably would have been maimed.]

Glad to be back in one piece too. I'd rather be here than nowhere, I guess.

Not unless it's a Halloween one.

[ It honestly wouldn't surprise Majima if Ryslig had spooky cruises, the sort that a comfortable socialite could go on while not actually facing down any sort of danger.

Trees skipped past, fields and bales of hay. ]

Hey. Know you're probably not up to it now, but... what do you think about goin' out on the town once you're settled back in?

Hey, that's not a bad idea. Like a casino on the river, Halloween on a ferry.

[He smiles tiredly, nodding towards Majima gently.]

You're a good pal. Let me get back, see if I still have a room with Jack, find a new home if not, then- who knows.
