TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER
Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!
SCENARIO ONE
You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.
There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.
SCENARIO TWO
So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.
Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."
Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.
SCENARIO THREE
"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.
Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.
Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.
SCENARIO FOUR
The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

Interesting...
[It makes sense, though. If his form is based solely on his keaton mask, then it stands to reason Link's form would be based on something he owns.
Yes, this must be how monsters work, he's cracked the code.]
Well... if they start to feel sore, please- ["speak up" was what he wanted to say, but maybe that's not the best choice of words.] -let me know. I will stop for you. It's not as if we have anywhere to be.
no subject
He nods at Kafei, smiling still. Kafei might be... forceful, in his speech, but he's a nice guy. He'll definitely let him know! But that confident smile of Link's assures he's not planning on it becoming a issue.
...Then he raises an eyebrow and looks around. Where were they planning on being, anyway? Somehow, Link's able to communicate that sentiment solely in the change of his expression. What the hell.]
no subject
They're all strange and surprisingly helpful for some reason.]
I didn't have a destination in mind. I figured since we're becoming monsters, we might as well play the part, but I still feel normal...all things considered.
The ones outside of Town always seemed so mindless, I'm...surprised I don't feel any different. You don't have any strange urges, do you?
no subject
Oh! He pounds a fist against his hand, giving a confident smile. He's found an answer, it would seem, as he starts digging through his bag.
Link then presents on flat proffered palms a generous handful of shiny, heart-shaped trinkets. Heart-shaped rocks, heart-shaped pieces of foil, heart-shaped confetti, heart-shaped broken jewelry that's clearly fallen off of someone's stuff.
...It looks like he's been collecting these things, and his face is practically sparkling with pride.]
no subject
[Listen, Kafei's a lover of love too, but even this is too far for him-]
Link, I have a very low tolerance for thieves these days, please tell me you didn't steal those.
no subject
Kafei. How could you. They're
mostlynot stolen.]no subject
You...You can't DO that!! You have no idea how important those could have been to someone! The cultures in this city are really bizarre!!
[NO ONE WEARS ANY MASKS.]
We're returning these!!
no subject
....Does he look like he'd steal things?! He's only really stolen from monsters! And it was really important!
He shoves his trinkets back in his bag and shakes his head, not yet willing to sacrifice words to defend himself, either. Instead he just keeps that annoyed face from before going.]
no subject
[Kafei doesn't get it, why doesn't Link understand? Something something heroes.]
What if you stole an important gift? A token of love?! I guess the rocks are alright... But some of those looked expensive, don't you think?
no subject
So Link hesitates, turning back toward Kafei, raising a brow.
...Well, if he wants to know what Kafei means and why this is so important to him, it looks like he'll have to defend himself, after all.
Link raises a palm as if to stop Kafei and shakes his head again.]
I didn't.
no subject
Then why did you act so guilty?
[See THIS is why he needs the annoying little fairy-]
I was ready to drag you all over the city, you know.
no subject
He'd rather figure out what's got Kafei so bothered!]
What happened?
[He asks, crossing his arms and tilting his head, his brow raising quizzically. Why does this matter so much to Kafei?]
no subject
Almost instinctively, he places his mask over his face, as if that will somehow shield him from answering anymore questions.]
I believe stealing is wrong, there isn't anything strange about that. Most people would agree with me.
no subject
[Link leans from side to side as if that can help him see past Kafei's mask... and nearly loses his balance in the process, with those wings behind him. Good thing his tail's on his side!
He sighs after a few attempts, though, and nods. Kafei's right... generally stealing is wrong.
But sometimes you have to do it anyway.
Like when facing a big pig monster.
...But Kafei doesn't have to know about that. Link settles with a nod and crossing his arms again.
He'll figure out what's up with Kafei sometime, he's sure.]
no subject
...And I may have jumped to conclusions, so...forgive me. As long as they aren't stolen...it's a very nice collection you've gathered.
no subject
...or maybe he's just pleased to have his collection praised. Judging by the pleased and rather placid look on Link's face, that might have something to do with it. He just gives Kafei another thumbs up.
Then he takes something out of that bag, motioning to shove it in Kafei's palm; if he accepts it, it looks like Link's found a fox-head shaped rock, too!]
no subject
...thank you.
[He guesses it's a gift either way??? It's the thought that counts, although he has no idea what he's going to do with a rock. Oh well, into a pocket it goes.]
At this rate, you're going to wind up with an awfully large hoard. Be careful not to carry more than you can manage.
no subject
He just shrugs his shoulders and rubs the back of his neck, starting to lean back as if to seem care-free— but only ends up having to right himself after nearly falling backward.]
no subject
Those wings will be the death of you.
[And then, without even thinking:]
Do you think they're flight worthy?
no subject
Not yet, it'd seem. He mimes his hand running across the other hand, jumping, swooping through the air... and then swooping into a loop and crashing. Looks like he's just not quite the right... flying shape yet.]
