Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
Mikasa had heard the stories of mothers, of Eren's mother in particular, but those had since degenerated for her. For her, the nightmares were real - the cabin door opening to her father skewered, her own mother next... the blissful grin on the Titan as it snapped Eren ( her ) mother in half. Those things that had been built for them in precautionary tales were not nearly so horrifying as their reality. Therefor, in some ways they both seemed to briefly occupy a fantastic state wherein Mikasa nor Eren truly mentally validated the alterations in their joined existences.
For a moment, at least.
Mikasa had always been a realist. Still her current reality was difficult for her.
"Armin would be useful now."
A call to the third man not there, who, despite a few reservations on Mikasa's part, did complete them. She knew they were not two, but three, in some corner of her mind. Still, a part of her, that part that he had encouraged to fight, believed they were they only ones needed to survive. If Mikasa had him, she'd be okay. Even if they were changing.
"When I knew you became a Titan," She says, slowly, carefully, "I never thought that you were one of them, not even when you tried to swat me."
"For a time, you relinquished yourself to those instincts, but later, you proved that your humanity was stronger. We can do that again, together... No matter what may become of us, we will not... lose our humanity!"
The fire in her eyes grows now, even a her feathered arms lower just slightly; hairs along her neck furl more pronounced, suddenly a minuscule ruff of downy. It's not total acceptance, really. She gestures him closer, to her, pulls at his softer hands. No, she'll never let him go, never desert him, no matter what they become.
"What else do you have?" Come close - to anything else, it would be a death sentence.
It was hard to be realistic when you were turning into a giant bird. But then again, until recently, Eren didn't know that humans could turn into Titans, and vice versa. He's really quite sick of having his world view turned on its head. It exhausted him mentally, and emotionally.
Eren feels bad admitting it, but... "I wish Armin were here, too. He'd know what was going on... he always read more old books and stories than me. Plus... I know he'd really like to see the ocean." Even if it meant turning into something strange. At the mention of the swatting incident, Eren flushes a little. Not his finest moment, not at all. But then he'd figured it out, and become humanity's greatest hope. What a burden... but one he was willing to accept. Then he looks at her, eyes full of that usual determination, even if they also show a bit of fear. "Right! I know that if we stick together, we can manage this!"
Normally, Eren would be put off by how overprotective Mikasa was. However, this time was different. She was going through it, too. She needed him as much as he needed her. It evened the playing field, and made him more open to being helped, as long as he helped her.
"What else...?" Eren scratches at his head thoughtfully. "Well... not much. My bones ache. Not really bad, but I hurt all over. And my eyes are kind of... burning..." he starts rubbing at his eyes. Actually, they were hurting more now that he was thinking about it.
