Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
It was a good thing he didn't say that then; Yukiko would've cried even more and wonder if it was the demon talking instead of her friend. At least the hug was a bit of comfort.
She did sadly. But she didn't want to hurt anyone just in order to eat; it scared her and to be honest...she would feel like a monster. Funny how the thoughts she had on herself changing was different than on her friends.
He resists the urge to call her out on it. To tell her to man up a little and that she needs to stand on her own too feet, but he knows that's also the demonic rage inside of him.
"If you don't," he finally says as a warning, his voice low, trying to be as gentle as possible yet attempting to push her into the right direction, "you'll lose everything that makes you who you are. You won't care who you harm or when or what. You'll strike out at the first thing you see, friend or foe."
Good thing he didn't say those words: that would've earned him a good slap across the face and with those claws, it would hurt. She already knew that she had to eat...people but she wasn't going to jump in head first like he did.
And she was still afraid...if she started doing it what would make her stop after for food?
She doesn't answer, just looked down at the ground. This is a serious morality decision after all.
He could send the fear off of her and attempted to relax a little by running his free hand in her feathery hair.
"Hey...remember when we talked at the shrine? How you wanted to keep managing the Inn." He looked down at her, smiling. "Keep that with you, no matter what happens. We all have something that can keep us who we are, even in the strongest of darkness. We'll figure out the mystery of why this is happening. I won't rest until we do."
"It doesn't have to be that bad," he added, the demonic part of him wanting to answer it never is but he kept it at a more controlled level. "You don't have to hurt someone in the prime of their life. There are many people near the edge of death...true monsters wouldn't care if it was friend or foe, or someone who didn't deserve to die just then..."
He sighed. It was hard to have good empathy when his entire body didn't have as much of it anymore.
"It's hard. I can't say if it will ever be easy. But...I'll come with you. I've spotted a few people on their deathbeds in the city. We can make it painless for them, I promise. They won't feel a thing."
But taking a life is still wrong in her mind. And how the hell was she going to explain it to said sick people? 'Oh hi there, I know you're terminally ill so why don't I kill you and eat your corpse?' That doesn't sound right at all. Shouldn't they be able to go in peace?
But him being there with her was a little comfort.
"I'll be." He'll pluck the soul out of them first while they are sleeping. No harm, no trouble. "Are you strong enough to fly on your own, or should I help you?"
Actually he looked down again, the look of pain on his face evident.
"A-actually, would you mind?" He looked towards to her hand still digging in his.
She's really sorry about that. Maybe they should get that cleaned up soon. Even demons could get sick or hurt.
With his other hand extended to her, she nodded and slowly stood up but couldn't help but look down at the ground. Seeing her feet take more of the form of a bird was really unsettling and really hard to stand.
She nearly yelped out, wanting that extra support but remembered something rather big: she wasn't a princess or that girl who wanted to be saved. But in this case, it was hard to go off on your own unless you want to die.
"..."
Quickly for him maybe but her...she took one shaky step forward and fell flat on her face. Scary monster indeed.
And yet so perfectly normal, that he had to laugh again.
"You can do it, Yukiko!" An enthusiastic claws up followed, even if she probably couldn't see it right now with her face so close to the ground. He didn't want to help her with every little thing unless she asked for his help.
Was it wrong that she wanted to throw something at his head for that? Clearly when she lifted her head, she was definitely annoyed. Give her a break Yu, not everyone can take to their new forms so quickly.
She had to push herself upward and back into a standing position, wobbling a bit as she tried to move a bit. It was more like shuffling or baby steps but it was something.
Possibly. But there she was attempting to walk and, honestly, as terrible as this might have sounded if he had thought it out loud, it was good that she was having trouble. It made him concentrate on other things, keep his mind on what needed to happen that night, and chased the demon away, even if just for a few minutes more.
"There you go. You'll get the hang of it in no time."
She doesn't want to get comfortable in this form, hoping that someone would find a cure for this soon. Yukiko surely didn't want to stick around long enough to start laying eggs or anything of the sort.
...he does realize that's kind of how baby birds are made, right?
She doesn't look back at her new appendages but she did stretch them out before curling them back in again. She was still in shock so it was going to be hard to get her to do things.

Yu was a patient friend. He'd wait until she was hungry, let her decide when she'd do it, but he'd make sure she didn't go off the deep end from hunger first. As much as he wanted to speed things along anyway.
"That's good. I'll show you how to fly once you're ready."
She wouldn't be ready to do it ever. That was the problem: too much holding back and constant worry. And she wouldn't want him to carry her because it was just be a burden to him. To be honest, she was wondering why he was here.
Nonetheless, she just nodded and kept on walking. Gods she just felt numb, like this was just a dream still.
He was still stuck in his positive world; in a way that's what made him fit to be a leader, but in a world like this, it could be dangerous, especially with that demonic edge that now loomed behind him.
"Don't worry," he added, smiling again. "I'll be by your side and we'll all figure this out together."
Tentatively, he tightened his hand around hers, to give her some comfort, and, perhaps, his own inner strength.
It was easy to say that they would stick together but there would always be a test for them to go through. Yukiko did know in her heart that they always pulled through but right now, it was looking pretty bleak. What could they do as monsters to stop this?
But then a sign appeared. Clawed hand grabbed onto clawed hand, trying to show that neither of them was alone in this. And for just a moment, there was a small smile appearing on her face.

"Let your body adjust," he coaxed, slowly moving backwards so she'd be able to stand on her own. "You'll find that your brain will adjust quickly."

"How are your wings feeling? Can you move them around a bit?" He moved his own as an example.
