Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[She accepts the rock from her, running her thumb over the smooth surface.]
I've never done it before. Do you just throw it?
[That's what she'd seen Xion do, anyways. Naminé squints her eyes a little in concentration, throwing the rock as hard as she could (which wasn't very) in an underhanded motion, causing a small 'kerplunk' as it sunk without even a single skip.]
[Naminé accepts the new stone gratefully, expression sheepish.]
I'm sorry to waste a stone like that... I'll try again.
[She extends her arm back and forth a few times, as if judging her throw, before releasing the stone at an angle as Xion suggested. It skips just once against the surface before sinking down, but once was enough to make Naminé's expression light up with excitement.]
It's just a rock, don't worry. [Really, there's no need to be so sheepish! She'd just grabbed a bunch that looked fine off the shore, and really, they were all going to end up in the water anyway.]
You got it faster than me. I think I probably sunk about fifty rocks before I did it.
Beginners luck, I'm sure. Plus I had you here to teach me, Xion.
[Naminé gives her a soft smile, tilting her head slightly. As she looks back up, the sun's finally dipping below the horizon, and she can't help but hum slightly in disappointment; she missed the eternal state of the sky in Twilight Town, the colors were beautiful and very fun to sketch.]
We should head back before it gets too dark.
hello i am not at home rn Q_Q dealing with small children
[She nods a little, standing up along side Xion and wiping the back of her dress in case any dirt had stuck to her.]
Sounds like a good idea. Scary situation or not, two heads are always better than one.
[Naminé hoped, anyways. They were definitely at a disadvantage what with their powers being gone and all, not that hers would've been particularly helpful for anything but running away (nor anything useful that Xion didn't already have at her disposal), but she'd like to believe that groups would be less likely to be bothered than single travelers. If worse came to worse, they could always grab a stick... or something.]
[Xion nods. They don't live too far away from each other anyway. Not to mention the fact that Naminé sort of already looks like an easy target for something bad (it's not that Xion wants her to be, there's just a certain frailness about Naminé that she can't shake from her head.]
C'mon, lets go.
[Xion motions for Naminé to go first, grin on her face.]
[That seemed like it was just asking for disaster. But she won't object-- if Xion thinks that's best, she'd take her word for it. She had more battle experience, anyways. Teasing? What's teasing?]
[Okay, to be fair, a lot of it is just teasing. But then there's also the other part wherein if Naminé goes first, then Xion is the most vulnerable one. Meaning Naminé has a good head start for her to fight anything off. And if it comes from the front or the side? She's still a lot more safe.]
[The blonde nods, starting their way back towards the city as she nervously wrings her hands in front of her. Naminé was already planning the route through her head, hoping to avoid any alleys or particularly deserted places-- which was rather hard, considering the only housing any of the new arrivals could find were in the more dangerous sections of town. It ought to be fine though, right? For now, it was just them and the bugs chirping in the distance.]
I've never really asked-- what do you think of this place so far, Xion? Do you like it?
It's not so bad. I mean, it's scary with all the monsters around, but... Here I can be someone i'm not, you know?
[Without getting into the details of having formerly been heartless, anyway. This place is different. Magic doesn't exist and there's monsters running around eating people.
And yet, she likes it. Likes it for the feeling of 'wholeness' it brings. How weird.
[Xion suddenly yells in pain, dropping to the ground hard. Her entire body feels like it's on fire all of a sudden, like she's too big for her skin. It's not long before she's panting and hyperventilating, curled up in a ball on the ground to try and make it stop. For any of it to stop.
She curls tighter around herself, blunt nails digging into her arms, drawing blood. The smell does nothing to help the sudden wave of nausea, but at the very least she manages to keep from throwing up.
And then everything gets loud. Bones break and reform under her skin, and it hurts, and there isn't anything she can do to stop it. Eventually, she ends up digging now clawed hands into her arms and ripping her skin off, only to show patches of fur underneath.
Eventually, the sounds she's making of pain start to sound less and less human, before they're just snarls and growls as she continues ripping everything off her body.
It's probably horrific to watch, especially if Naminé had decided to stick around for all of that. Because she's now a lot bigger than she was (easily double her previous size). And, you know, a wolf too.]
[Naminé rushes to her side, placing her hands on her shoulders in a desperate wish to help the other girl in any way she could. The combination of the intense beating in her chest with the overwhelming smell of blood sends Naminé reeling, stumbling back gagging just in time for the horrific changes to begin in her friend. The blonde trips over her feet and falls to the ground as her eyes grow wide and horrified, scooting away desperately as Xion's body twisted and ripped, bile rising up in her throat. Overwhelmed and filled with fright, Naminé lurches to empty the contents of her stomach on the ground next to her, body trembling with nauseating pain. She'd seen some pretty horrible things in her day, but this? This takes the grand prize.
As she turns back to look at Xion's state, despite the blood in her veins running ice cold, her body goes rigid as she sees what had befallen her in the end. Noises of fear and distress bubble up from her throat unintentionally, unable to comprehend what had become of her friend, and what in the world Naminé should do next in this sort of situation.]
Xi...X-Xion...?
[Every part of her was screaming at her to run, but her concern for her friend kept her in place, hoping that perhaps there was something left in her the same as before, that maybe, just maybe, she could help her with whatever had caused her to reach this state. Naminé couldn't just abandon her, fear or not...]
[Her mind is going full throttle, and she can't seem to stop it, even when all the pain has finally died down. the scraps of cloth still on her get torn off; they're too tight, too constricting and feel wrong against her. Once that's taken care of, however, she can smell blood, and she can smell bile, and suddenly her mind focuses. Something is sick. Injured. Weak.
It doesn't take more than a turn of her head to figure out what. Naminé is small on top of the other things. Fear is coming off of her in waves, and really, what could be more delicious? Already, she's rising into more of a bipedal stance, closing the distance in the few steps it takes, ears pinned back and snarling all the while.
And then she stops. just like that.
No, she can't hurt the blonde- Naminé. They're friends. She's supposed to protect her, because that's what friends do.
Xion shakes her head violently, to clear any thoughts of making a meal out of the small girl. It works well enough, even if it does nothing to abate her hunger.
She sits on the ground across from her, watching carefully.]
... Naminé?
Hi yakkk comp shut off I'm too drunk to find charger here's ur drunk tag
[Naminé carefully stands to her feet in front of Xion, tentative and worried despite the fact the other girl had decreased in her aggression. She nods as her name is spoken, eyes a bit hopeful at the more positive direction the situation was going, glad to see there was at least some humanity left in Xion.]
Y-yes, it's me... are you, are you okay...?
[Well no, obviously things aren't okay, but she more so meant now that the whole.... wolfy thing seemed to settle down and all.]

[She chuckles lightly, offering another stone.]
You have to kinda... throw it at an angle? Side first, if that makes sense.
