Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: Manticores have been added to the bestiary! Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. For the first app round only, you can app TWO characters. Mod applications are open until Wednesday! Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[She could pick up an accent, something syrupy and slow and she pegged somewhere around Louisiana. Maybe New Orleans or Baton Rouge. Not that she'd ask. Yet.]

As long as you can swear to me that you're not a serial killer who plans on scalping me and adding blonde to your collection of weird death trophies, I suppose that's doable.

[Any plan to keep walking was drawn to a very sudden halt as Remy turned and gave her his best 'wtf' look, his smoke almost falling from his lips before he caught it again and laughed.]

I ain't. Mais, got to ask yaself, if I was, would I admit to it? [His grin returned before he made a cross over his chest.]

Cross my heart, killin' be the last thing from my mind 'round a belle fille.

I keep hoping that if I ask, I'll actually trip up a legitimate serial killer. There's got to be one or two out there that just want to get that load off their chest.

But, hey, I won't deny it makes me breathe easier knowing I get to keep my hair. I happen to like it as is, you know, attached to my head. Consider me relieved.

[The reaction had her smiling and she moved to start walking in the direction he'd been going. It wasn't one she'd come from and she could only hope that it led to an 'out' path.]

Oh yeah, 'nd what would ya do, when ya found such a person? Paper for a science magazine, unlockin' the mind of a looney? [It was all said in good humour, a light teasing but not mocking. She seemed like she could take it.]

Remy LeBeau, by the way, since we seem to be stuck down the same rabbit hole at the moment.

I was thinking more along the lines of kicking them in the nuts and running, but hey, a paper might be a good thought for when I wasn't in mortal peril.

[Yes, shit talking was one of her fortes, and there was a bit of tension that drained out of her when she recognized a like-mind in a place like this.]

Veronica Mars. I'd advice against eating any mushrooms or taking bad advice from talking caterpillars.

[That drew a louder laugh from Remy, holding the smoke between his fingers during it so not to lose it on the forest floor.]

But it'd certainly be memorable.

[But his laugh had her smiling as she looked back at him before she peered into the woods around them for a bit, still trying to see if she could catch sight of their followers.]

Your guess is as good as mine. I remember being wet. Being in a hospital type-place, then they just shoved me out and sent me on my way. And then I made the unfortunate decision of deciding that the path through the woods looked safe enough.

Huh, 'nd here I be thinkin' I be a special case to get that sort of treatment myself. Clearly need to start a club, exclusive membership or some merde like that.

[Taking a long draw on his cigarette, Remy glanced over to her.] Let me guess, that path slowly started to get less 'till ya noticed ya were no longer on one?

[She gestured outward with her hands, like he should just look around for his answer.]

Something like that? Wait, don't tell me... you've read this book before?

[It was said tongue in cheek, Veronica more than aware that they were both getting screwed over somehow here.]

Read? Cherie! I be a good ol' southern boy, what makes ya think I can read? [Remy's smile stayed in place as he said that, not minding one bit about making fun of himself.] Gotta make sure those books got some pretty pictures in it for me.

Oh, don't give me that. It's always the ones that try to play dumb that are more clever than they let on. I can play the dumb blonde card too, you know.

[But it was a hollow reprimand and she turned to look further down the not-path.]

[Taking the non-path Veronica suggested, he walked quietly for awhile before speaking up once more.]

Lets see if we got similar earlier chapters then. Woke up in the hospital but 'fore that life was just as normal as ever.

[She stepped over a tangle of roots that tried to trip her, hand going out against the bark of the tree next to her and coming away with a slippery sort of moss on it. Eww.]

Yeah, that's about it. Last thing I remember was putting Backup in the house after a walk.

Cheatin' has its merits too, dependent on the situation. [He instinctively reached out a hand, offering it for balance if she needed it.]

Backup... dog? [Remy hated dogs. Trained ones or household ones, they were a nuisance on the job. Unpredictable, noisy, and far too well built to pick up a thief. Didn't have that problem with a house cat.]

[Well wasn't that kind of him. She accepts it because, eww, really, gross tree slime, getting her balance back and picking up a stick she could use to scrape the worst of it off her hand with.]

Purebred English Pitbull. Best protection a girl can have in California. Well, other than mace and a taser, but it's so much more entertaining when Backup goes for the family jewels than when I tase them there. I only get pants wetting and passing out. His reactions are much more fun.

'm startin' to dislike this talk, ya seem to steer it back to the same painful topic. Which, don't get me wrong, some hommes deserve it, but havin' that equipment myself, can't say 'm a fan of bein' hit there.

Hey, plenty of men in my presence get to keep their package all in one piece. It's the ones that step out of line that have to worry, so as long as you're not that type, it's not a concern.

[Not that she had her dog on her. Or her taser. But she did still have a very quick knee, so she wasn't completely without any means of defense -- and in Veronica-world, that was important.]

[Yes, but maybe a little naive on her part to think that was a cure-all for a difficult situation.] Think I be fine then.

Wouldn't happen to remember what direction ya were headin' when ya got into this place? [Remy was really doing his best to ignore that laughter around them, focus on something that could be fixed: getting out of there. Leave the giggling children type... things to when they became a problem, not just a distraction.] Easy 'nough to climb a tree 'nd get a bearing from the sun 'nd at least head in the right direction.

[Possibly. But she was naive in thinking that a taser would solve all her problems as well, especially when half the people she came across that she needed to use it on just picked her up like she was nothing. Being small sucked.]

I wasn't actually paying attention to direction until I got lost. I figured a path was good enough. Serves me right for thinking logically, huh?

[And it did, in a way. She should have been paying more attention. Should have figured that something was off after waking up here in the first place. But no. Nope, she'd just figured that some sign of civilization was better than nothing.]

That be 'ssumin' this place runs on logic... but still was safe to 'ssume so. [Don't worry, Remy had done the same thing.]

Guess we just pick a direction 'nd hope it be goin' in the right direction, 'nd preferably away from our followers.

Easier said than done. They're everywhere. Just when you think you're clear of them... the teehees start back up. Now, I'm not a violent person [Hahahahaha], but I sort of want to find one of them and just... yank their hair. Really hard. Maybe sucker punch them in the gut, depending on how small they are.

I don't really know how we're supposed to be able to tell. This way's the same as that and we seem to be going absolutely nowhere.

Of course ya be. [Remy offered her a grin at her confident statement, no hint of sarcasm or teasing in his voice, just appreciating her attitude to the situation.]

For now, just hopin' it ain't the direction of a giant cookin' pot or oven or something.
