Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note:
Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample!
Sample scenarios:
SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town.
SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together.
SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.
[ The description is a little alarming, but if he has a cute name like that he's probably not too dangerous? Kairi shakes her head, but it doesn't look like that explained much more for her. ]
No, I haven't seen him. But I can help you look, if you want. I'm looking for someone too.
[He nods.] All of my pokemon have gone missing, but the place Zuzu seemed most likely to go to was closest.[- As far as he can tell, anyway. He isn't familiar with the area other than what he's seen in the past hour or two.]
Ah! And We can keep an eye out for them too, of course. What are they like?
[He clears his throat] That said... Zuzu isn't here, and your friend with the silver hair isn't here. Where do you think he'd go? You'd said you're lost, but maybe you've passed a direction you think he might go in?
[ That's a good question. Where would Riku go? He probably wouldn't be quite as enthusiastic about asking the residents for information as, say, Sora. Given their attitudes so far, that's probably a more reliable train of thought. ]
I think he'd look around as much as possible, first. Maybe check out the water. That's what I was going to do, in case I could find a trace of... well, anything. To be honest, I'm not sure what I'm looking for, really.
Uhm hmm... There sure are a lot of footprints around here, and all from the same tide too.
[They couldn't all have been from fisherman picking out people from the water, could they? If so, that would be an unsettlingly high amount of victims- He pushes the thought away for now.]
Do you see any prints that look like any of his shoes?
[ That's kind of mean. It occurs to Kairi that she is also wearing sneakers, so she backs up to look at her own footprints, just to make sure she doesn't mistake them for anyone else's. ]
[ Something about this kid really reminds her of Sora. Maybe it's the chatterbox tendencies? Maybe. She looks a little overwhelmed by the description of his pokemon, but she's still putting on a smile. ]
Okay, let's give it a try. It can't hurt, and I think we might have something like pokemon on my island after all. Just under different names.
[ Or something close enough, anyway. She makes a sweeping gesture at her side, motioning for him to get moving. ]
Nothing familiar at all huh? We might be far from whatever town you were at before, ehrm, that happened to you.
[He broadly gestures at your dress. It's a discouraging thought for him, really. If Kairi was moved a great distance on the island, that might make this search more tedious.]
I noticed that, too. Something tells me there's more to us being found in the water than they're letting on. Especially since there seems to be so many of us, you know?
Not all of them were from this island either, which is weird too; you're lucky you're familiar with a part of this island. The old man made if sound like not many of us are.
Can a person really drift all the way to a different region? [- He has experience being washed out to sea, you know. This is the second time for Ruby, but unlike last time it appears he's been sent adrift to a new landmass instead of a different traveler's route.]
[ Well. Familiar enough. But she won't comment on that, taking a moment to straighten up on her toes and look around. ]
I think it's possible. This-- Well, something really similar happened to me once when I was little. I washed up on the island where I live now, with no memories at all.
[ She's glad amnesia isn't a bonus here, too. On the upside, they can bond about their terrible ocean adventures. ]

A water/ground type pokemon. A big blue tough looking creature with fins and orange gills on his head. His name is Zuzu.
no subject
No, I haven't seen him. But I can help you look, if you want. I'm looking for someone too.
no subject
Ah! And We can keep an eye out for them too, of course. What are they like?
no subject
[ At least, she doesn't think so. ]
What exactly is a pokemon?
no subject
[Actually; Sapphire's dad HAD said there was a region where pokemon were scarce.] - Unless you're from Orre?
[He was listening he swears. Silver haired kid, yeah? BUT THAT OTHER QUESTION TAKES PRIORITY.]
no subject
Well-- Actually, I'm from these islands. We don't communicate much with anyone else. I guess our island doesn't have any pokemon?

I don't think I'm that good of a detective. But, maybe. See any that look like they came from a really big pair of sneakers?
[ She loves her boys but they have some big feet. She does look around, just in case. There are a lot of footprints... ]
no subject
A lot of them look like boots, but I'm not sure?
[He vaguely remembers Mr. Briney leaving tracks in Dewford Town when they made landfall. Some of these remind him of that old-man's boots.]
- Some of them look like they could be sneakers, but I don't see any freakishly huge ones.
no subject
[ That's kind of mean. It occurs to Kairi that she is also wearing sneakers, so she backs up to look at her own footprints, just to make sure she doesn't mistake them for anyone else's. ]
Maybe we should look for your pokemon first.
no subject
[Too bad your jokes can be a little insensitive and the best of times, Ruby.]
Yeah. And... [He goes on to describe his pokemon's bizzare appearences - who would've been an unfun wall of text for everyone otherwise.]
- Nana and Coco might be over that way [he points] . Wild mightyena and delcatty like living in open fields, I've heard.

To the fields!]
Nanaaaaa, Coco? Come! [He whistles, but all that responds is some wind.]
Do you see anything that looks familiar?
no subject
[ Maybe they wiggled their way into a rabbit hole or something? Who knows. ]
no subject
[He broadly gestures at your dress. It's a discouraging thought for him, really. If Kairi was moved a great distance on the island, that might make this search more tedious.]
- I'm Ruby, by the way.
no subject
Oh! My name's Kairi. Before what happened?
I can backpedal my comments if I'm wrong about assuming about her dress ^^;
[Which is a shame really. Finding people with good taste in clothing is rare.]
It's like what happened to mine. You were rescued in Vandare too... right?
[Like the others he saw? Otherwise this is going to get awkward rather fast.]
no no it's fine! I just wanted to clarify c:
[ For cheap, hopefully, since she didn't wake up with any money. But it's the same story on her end! No awkward here. ]
But you're right. You woke up in the hospital too, huh?
Sweet \o/
[He nods.]
The only helpful person I'd met in that town was in that hospital. The rest weren't too sociable. They don't seem to like outsiders very much.

[ It's just suspicious! ]
