Welcome to Ryslig's test drive meme! If you're considering apping here, this is where you can try your characters out in the game's setting. A few things to note: Manticores have been added to the bestiary! Lots of people have asked good questions on the FAQ, so do take a look. For the first app round only, you can app TWO characters. Mod applications are open until Wednesday! Reserve and application dates have been announced. Test drive meme threads can be used for your roleplay sample! Sample scenarios: SCENARIO ONE: You've just been released from the hospital in Vandare and no one really seems to know what to do with you. The locals offer polite advice but don't seem to want to spend a lot of time with you. You and the other new arrivals stick out like sore thumbs, so perhaps one will spot you wandering about town. SCENARIO TWO: You've become hopelessly lost in Lager Woods. Paths don't seem to lead where you remember them leading, and you feel as if you're going around in circles. Childlike giggling can be heard from no direction in particular. Suddenly, you stumble upon another character, who seems to be just as lost as you! Perhaps you can find a way out together. SCENARIO THREE: The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? NOTE: Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[There's a record scratch on Xion's end.

Gosh, this person looks really familiar, but she can't seem to place it. Hopefully Kairi doesn't mind being eyed up and down in confusion before Xion just gives up and chalks it up to having seen her on some strange world before.

She doesn't have the time for this.]

Yeah.

[ That's okay, it's enough like looking in a mirror anyway. She's doing the same thing to Xion, though it seems mostly focused on her torso. She knows that coat, and it's only ever brought a good thing into her life once. The odds are not in her favor.

But she's not trying to grab her, and she doesn't seem to recognize her. The best course of action is clearly to play it cool and pretend she doesn't know she's probably talking to a Nobody. ]

Oh. Um. I'm sorry, I probably can't help you. I just got here.

[Good plan, Kairi. Xion doesn't seem to notice anyway. It helps that she's never really had basic human interaction before, so that much is definitely stacked in her favour.]

A lot of people just got here. You... don't remember anything? How you got here? Maybe what attacked you?

[ Kairi shakes her head, crossing her arms to rub at one of the scratches once she's reminded of them. ]

No, nothing. They told me they found me in the water, but I don't remember anything before I woke up in that hospital. Whatever happened before that, I don't know. I went to sleep in my own bed, like always.

[ Something tells her she knows the answer before she even voices her question, but she can't not ask. If they're stuck here, in the same position, maybe they can work together. ...if it's not some kind of trap. Definitely a possibility. ]

Do you remember anything?

[Sort of the same with her, really.]

It's the same for me. I don't... I don't know anything. How anything happened, or even why. I'm.. I'm not even from here. Lots of people aren't but that's not normal.

[Kairi rubbing at her own scratches makes Xion rub at one of the bite marks that have clearly punctured through her coat on the sleeve. It's bothersome, and everything about it just feels wrong.

Something mighty important for a Nobody to think, she thinks.]

I thought so. It's the same with me.

[ The people from here, the ones trying to avoid her, they seem to know what they're doing. But the other people, like this girl, everything about them seems out of place. The people like them have to be from other worlds, there's no other explanation. If she's wearing that coat, she has to know that much, but Kairi isn't going to bring it up yet.

Instead, she holds out a hand. ]

My name's Kairi.

[Xion's doing her best not to mention the same thing.]

I'm Xion.

[But to the hand, Xion just looks at Kairi a little quizzically, not really sure what she's supposed to be doing with it.

... It's going to be harder than she thought to pass as human, if she can't figure out a simple gesture like this.]

[ Well, that's okay. Maybe it's not a custom where she's from. Maybe she's just wary of touching other people covered in scratches and bite marks. Kairi wouldn't blame her for being worried about infection, and only waits a beat before dropping her hand. ]

Do you think we were brought here by someone?

[The hand drops, and Xion relaxes slightly, no longer worried about what to do in that situation.]

... We were fished out of the water. Thats what they've told us, anyway.

I remember. But what I want to know is how we got to the water in the first place.

[ If it's the world that brought them here, then there's a bigger problem that they'll need to take care of as a group, maybe. But if a person brought them here... How powerful do you have to be for that? ]

Xion... Are you familiar with other worlds?

[Just like that, she tenses once again, not really sure how to react, other than a slow nod.]

... Yes- but- You know about them too?

[ On the other side of the coin, Kairi relaxes, glad she can talk about this with someone else who might be able to follow her train of thought. ]

Yes. I know that's not something we're supposed to talk about, but I think the situation we're in right now might be a special case. It's not the first time I've woken up like this.

... It's not?

[That catches her attention the most right now, but thankfully Xion is at least on the ball enough to wave Kairi down a bit.]

Can we go somewhere more... private for this? I don't think we should talk about it here.

Oh. That's a good idea. Even if it's true, I don't want to start a panic.

[ She looks around, a little uneasy now. Had anyone been close to hear them? She wasn't paying attention. She gestures to the road and looks back to Xion. ]

This way? Or does it matter?

It shouldn't matter which way we go, I think.

[Just anywhere away from other people should be fine. She'll follow after Kairi wherever she leads, anyway.]

I wasn't sure if you knew if this led to anything.

[ Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Man, where are they supposed to stay? Are there inns? How is she supposed to pay for a room? ]

How long have you been here?

Oh, no. I don't. I've only been here a few hours now. At least, if I count from the time I woke up. Anything else I don't really know.

I figured that's what you would say. I guess that means I wasn't out for very long, in that case. Seems like we showed up around the same time, doesn't it?

[ Them and who knows how many others. ]

Yeah... But the thing is that we don't know anyone else here. At least, I haven't seen anyone I know around yet. So it's not entire worlds that are coming here either, just a few select people.

No, definitely not. But I wonder if anyone I know was brought here, too. I really hope it wasn't just me.

[ She can just imagine what they'd have to say about her being kidnapped to another world again. Without her Keyblade, even. ]

If they were brought here, I hope you find them. I haven't seen any of my friends here either.

[And she really, really wishes she wasn't alone here.]
