Welcome to the Ryslig Test Drive Meme! Below are a few prompts to get you started, but you may make up any prompt you desire! Please take a look at the navigation page for rules, setting information, and links to reserves and apps. Have fun!

SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[ Hey, to someone who doesn't know what galaxies are, the fate of the world seems about as big as it can get!

Still, it's a familiar story for most. Thankfully, Toph's formally educated enough to put it into familiar words, though her tone softens as she does. ]

It's a lot to explain... They always had a strong military and economy. The avatar was gone, and a comet was coming that made them even stronger.

Basically, they saw a chance and took it.

They took advantage of the weaknesses they saw in others.

[ It's just like the First Order, just like the Empire before them. It's sad to think that this sort of thing is universal, that it happens again and again all over, but Rey knows enough not to be surprised. Just disappointed.

They walk in silence for a bit, before Rey looks around and announces, ] I think we're almost to the edge of town.

Something like that. I think it was just greed, clouding their ambitions.

[ The war initially started to 'spread the fire nation's success' to the other nations... By force. Just another excuse.

Toph's more than content to walk along quietly, seemingly busy thinking before she hears Rey speak. ]

Oh- Good. Are there any farm houses in the distance? They might even have some spare clothes.

[ AFter walking around for so long in her soaked light clothes, the chill was getting worse. ]

[ Rather than continue to talk about wars and greed, Rey casts her eyes on the horizon, seeing what's out there. ]

I think I see one, over the next hill. It's a large wooden house surrounded by fields. Looks like it could be a farm.

Looks just like one to me!

[ Hah- Hah- ]

But yeah, that sounds like it. Have you seriously never seen a farm before?
Where do they get food where you're from?

[ D'oh. ]

...Right.

[ Rey keeps walking, following the road out of town towards the farm house. ]

No, I've never seen a farm. I grew up in a desert. We got food by trading junk for pre-portioned meals you just added water to.

[ Toph refrains from remarking that she's never seen a farm either. But only barely. ]

Just water?... Sounds pretty weird. We didn't have anything like that where I'm from.

[ She's at least... heard farms. Or been near them. That's better off than Rey is. ]

Yes, you add water and stir and it forms into a sort of muffin, with greens.

[ It certainly wasn't the tastiest food available, Rey knows that now. She's been eating much better with the Resistance. ]

Huh-... Weird.

[ Says the girl who could throw rocks around like they were nothing. But she followed along all the same, sticking so close to Rey they almost bumped against each other sometimes. ]

What other kinda weird stuff did you have there?

[ The bumping is okay. Rey keeps her pace slow enough that Toph can easily keep up. They have plenty of daylight left, they can take their time in reaching the farm. ]

Well, I don't exactly know, do I? It's not weird to me. I should be asking you what kind of weird stuff you have in the Earth Kingdom.

[ The reason is fairly clear at least. Whenever Rey needs to change her step to accommodate an incline or avoid some obstacle, she can hear it and try to copy. As long as she can sort of sense how the woman is moving, she can follow along. ]

I guess!... Though we had plenty of weird things. Like the constantly shifting desert, the hidden library. Uhm. [ It is hard to recall off the top of her head. ] The king of Ba Sing Se had a pet bear! It wasn't even a platabear!

[ Rey has never heard of a bear before, let alone a platabear. But she latches onto something that does sound familiar. ]

Jakku had something like that... The Sinking Fields in the Goazon Badlands. If you landed your ship there, it would sink right into the sand. Come to think of it, there was something similar on Pasaana, too.

[ Does every desert planet have sinking sands? ]

[ Sure sounds like a desert and normal desert hazards. ]

What do you mean by ship? You keep saying something about them and it doesn't make any sense.

[ At this point, she just wants to get this confusing topic over with. Please.]

How do you 'land' a ship in the middle of a desert? Did you bend it out there?

Bend? What--? [ What does that even mean? ] No, the ship flies. It takes off and flies through the air, then you land it somewhere else.

[ This is basic stuff, how does she still not get it?? ]

[ She skips over the confusion over bending, focusing instead on a point that just clicked! A point that makes her recoil a little. ]

Oh! You mean like an Airship?!

[ There's only one nation that has those that she knows of... But none of the names make sense otherwise. Her voice is a bit more wary. ]

I thought the Fire nation were the only ones who had those...

...Sort of. Only with more distance capability.

[ If Toph doesn't know what a planet is, then airship is probably the best Rey can hope for. ]

And obviously not, because I've never heard of the Fire nation before.

Wherever you come from, they're more advanced than anything I've run into.

[ Which is not a super high bar, but she doesn't know that. ]

Speaking of which... What did those pamphlets they kept trying to hand out say?

[ She at least has the good sense not to shoot back an, "Obviously." ]

Oh right, those pamphlets! [ Rey still has some tucked into her belt. She pulls them out now to read the titles. ]

"Bunnyipyips and You." "What to Expect When You're Expecting... To Turn Into A Monster." What could that mean?

Wow... That is... Not helpful at all.

[ Oh how little she knows. The phrase yip-yip sounds familiar though. ]

Haven't seen a bunyipyip before. Maybe it's some kind of flying bisonrabbit?

I wouldn't know what those are, either.

[ The pamphlets are full of fanciful illustrations, but they don't seem very realistic to Rey. ]

Is a bisonrabbit large enough to ride?

Don't know, never met one. Flying bison are large enough to ride though! They're pretty neat.

[ She already misses Appa... He was nice. ]

What did you use to get around where you're from? Aside from airships.

[ Rey keeps flipping through the pages of the pamphlet on bunyipyips, hoping there will be some kind of helpful illustration. ]

We'd ride speeders or swoop bikes. I had one on Jakku that I built out of spare parts. Some of the scavengers ride Luggabeasts or Happabores. I think it varies from planet to planet, but speeders and bikes are pretty commonplace.

[ At this point, she's not even sure what to ask about first. She's never heard of ANY of those things before. Except bikes, at least. And only kindof. ]

Speeders? Very simple name, right to the point. I take it they go fast?

[ There's a little bit of sarcasm in her voice, unable to help but tease the name. ]

That's about the gist of it, yeah.

[ She knows it sounds obvious. A bit like naming a planet "Earth." ]

Swoops go even faster than speeders. They're basically just an engine with a seat. Podracers are the worst of them all. That's a sport, and it's one of the most dangerous ones in the galaxy.

Sounds dangerous... And fun! Did you do any of that?

[ Her excitement makes it clear where Toph's interests lie. Most dangerous sport? Sounds like her kinda thing.
