SCENARIO ONE

You wake up on the beach thoroughly drenched, with your mouth full of sand. The salt water is making all the cuts and scrapes on your skin sting and the sand isn't helping. The air is slightly humid, ruining any feeling of refreshment you might have gotten from your dip in the ocean.

There are lights in the distance, but the unfriendly scent of gunpowder fills the air. If you're lucky, you're alone. If not - you might find yourself staring up into a pair of monstrous eyes or down the barrel of a local's shotgun.

SCENARIO TWO

So you've just arrived, and already some of the natives are trying to get on your good side with offers of food, shelter and other luxuries in return for hoping you don't eat them. They even have some helpful pamphlets to share with you. "How To Deal With Changes", "Alternatives to Human Flesh", "What to Expect When You're Expecting (to turn into a monster)" are all on the more informative end of the scale. There's even some detailing certain monsters, and the changes they go through. Some of these seem to have been passed down from one monster to the next.

Among these however, are some... not so helpful ones. "Bunnyipyips And You", "Axe Thief Axehounds," and "So you're becoming a Fur Bearing Trout" among others. Sometimes they have marks on them from previous readers saying they're lies, or pointing out good "jokes."

Then there are the people who aren't happy to see you at all. Glares and silent, judging stares if you're lucky, torches and pitchforks attempting to drive you out of the town if you're not. You may need a friend to help you.

SCENARIO THREE

"Seek us out," the voice whispers in your head, and before you have time to question it you've found yourself in someplace entirely alien.

Maybe it's the Fog God's ghostly town of Dyster, where exultant followers dance around bonfires and sing their praises to the skies above. Maybe it's the Fourth God's arcade, with small robots wheeling about amidst the lights and colors of old pinball machines.

Only one thing is certain: you are not alone, in this sacred place.

SCENARIO FOUR

The time has come and you've found yourself becoming a monster. Is the change instant, or gradual? Are you familiar enough with monsters to know what's happening, or is it a complete shock? Feel free to pick any monster type for this prompt, but note that you may not get the same one in game.

[Altair looked like he wanted to refuse, but he just sighed in defeat and accepted the hoodie. He could tell the blood was making her uncomfortable and he didn't like having blood on his hands either. It brought back unpleasant memories.]

[He used the inside of the jacket to wash off the blood, that way she wouldn't have to see it, and handed it back to her.]

I wish I did, but I don't even remember how I got here let alone where here is. Do you remember anything?

[She shakes her head slowly and drapes the hoodie over her arm.]

No, I was watching a movie. Treating myself, you know? And it had just gotten to a good part.

[Peace frowns.] Now I'm out eleven bucks and a pair of cute shoes.

I remember getting in a car with a friend but that's it.

[If it was just him, he would have guessed that the Order drugged him with something that messed with his memory but too many things didn't add up. Why couldn't he hear souls or feel Her presence? Where was Sirius and why kidnap Peace? Was she a mage too? It was possible. As far as he knew, they hadn't found the new mages yet.]

Did you have magic or some sort of strange ability before you came here? It might give us a clue as to why we're here.

Uh...[Think fast! Think fast! Peace looks side long, her lips pursing.]

Nope!

[She knows she's a terrible liar, and now is no exception. She just hopes that he doesn't catch up on it, and resolves to apologize to her grandma's memory later.]

Must just be a... uh, a weird coincidental happenstance! Right?

[Altair wasn't convinced and he fought the urge to raise an eyebrow. But he could understand why she would want to keep her powers, whatever they were, a secret. He and his friends had been hunted down because of theirs. He wasn't about to reveal his secret to a strange either, even if she seemed nice. So he decided to act like her little lie worked. He got the information he needed so it was fine.]

I guess so. Sorry for asking such a weird question.

[Peace seems relieved that he appears to believe her. Lying wasn't fun, and she was bad at it, but maybe he was dense?]

It's OK, it's not the weirdest I've ever been asked. [That is an undeniable truth, at least.]
